CNN reporting 12 miners alive!

They must have these mine rescues well thought out. The Pennsylvania miners were rescued as well--I'm just amazed that 2 major mining incidents...and they found them all alive (save the one tragic death of one of these miners).

Families Say 12 W.Va. Miners Found Alive 2 minutes ago

TALLMANSVILLE, W.Va. - Twelve miners caught in an explosion in a coal mine were found alive Tuesday night, more than 41 hours after the blast, family members said.

Bells at a church where relatives had been gathering rang out as family members ran out screaming in jubilation.

Relatives were yelling "They're alive!"

One miner was found dead earlier Tuesday, the mine's owner, International Coal Group Inc. said.

Neither the company nor the govenor's office immediately confirmed the news.

There were hugs and tears among the crowd outside the Sago Baptist Church loacted near the mine, about 100 miles northeast of Charleston.

Wonderful!! I actually felt optimistic when I heard that the one miner was found all by himself which indicated that the others were able to move away on their own. They had to "be" somewhere. Thank God that they are alive.

I was so happy to read this when I came on the disboards! Started watching cnn and was thrilled to see that 12 are alive, my prayers go to the one miner who passed away, so sad for his family. God Bless the miners, their families, and rescuers.

CNN is now reporting that only one is alive. I hope to God that's not true.

Amazing. The Ceo of the mine said only one could be saved and apparently there was a fist fight and a brawl. I don't know how this happened, someone jumped the gun with the news but this is awful for those families to think their loved ones were alive and then all of sudden to have this happen.

I went to bed thinking that 12 families were rejoicing in great news to climb back out of bed due to insomnia (dang prednisone) to learn that reports were wrong and instead there are 12 angry, hurt, and confused families mourning.

Gosh, such a sad situation.

I just heard this too,OH HOW SAD!!! God Bless them all, and let us pray for the young man still holding on..this is awful....hours ago I was crying with joy for them....I can't believe it!

This is actually quite typical of what we experience everyday here in West Virginia. The media circus swoops in (as if they really care), and our politicians are more than happy to oblige and feed the frenzy. After all, these men died supplying an industry that has a cash flow directly out of our state. The whole thing is sickening, but sadly, not unusual.

I just got up, I have to be at work at 4. I turn on ABC and they are doing the re-broadcast of the 10 news. The first story out is about how the miners were found alive. I know its a re-broadcast but I think something should have been done, maybe edited out and the news would have been a little shorter.

If I hadn't logged on I would have thought they were alive.

How awful- apparently someone "overheard" a conversation and assumed 12 were alive..... I bet that person feels horrible this morning.

I just saw the Gov speak. He said he was in the church, when he heard people jumping with joy in another room. It sounds as if it was just a terrible miscommunication that spread like wildfire through the church, and then the media ran with it. Sad.
