during the execution of Saddam Husein.
Fox, BBC, and a host of other news channels showed up to the minute information about the execution of the Butcher of Baghdad, but what does CNN do? They show a repeat of an interview done earlier in the day (in between the weather forecasts of course).
You tell me, do you think CNN is really happy about the removal of this butcher from the world? Judging by the importance they are given it's coverage, I don't think so.
Good thing there are some real news channels to watch.

Maybe CNN wants to grab the ratings of the people who are NOT interested in Saddam.:confused3

I say good for CNN. I like having a channel to watch that doesn't include Saddam coverage.

huh? I am watching CNN and they have up to date coverage of
Saddam. I am PST what time zone are you in? Maybe it's different...:confused3

Hey, that's nutjob Nancy Grace - Headline News for you. :sad2:

Luckily, Larry King & Anderson Cooper (CNN) were smart enough to cover current news. :thumbsup2

:confused3 They have Anderson Cooper on since 9:45 (when I tuned in) and it's been non-stop Saddam coverage. Not sure what you are watching.

CNN was the station that I first saw that he had been hanged on...I also got their email notification first

Who knows but maybe they are trying to put something else on for people to watch?
I am not a huge person for the death penalty, but it is something I want to hear about because of things that surround it, but maybe there are people out there, that want absolutely nothing to do with it

yep, same here...Anderson Cooper and Larry King before him with nothing but Saddam...not a word of Lacey Peterson here and I have been watching for a good 2 hours! :confused3

OP is watching CNN Headline News - not the other CNN.

I'm watching it here at CST, and for the past 30 minutes at least (when I out of curiosity happened to flip over) they have been rerunning an earlier Lacey Peterson interview.
As for those who don't care about Saddam, that doesn't matter. The fact is that this is the biggest news story of the day/week/month, and maybe even the year. How can a channel that claims to be a leader in the news not show coverage of such a huge event?

OP is referring to channel with Nancy Grace on it.

I'm guessing CNN realizes that with two networks on the air and with what little information is coming down that they don't need to devote constant converage on both.

I see you're in Mexico City, I'm guessing maybe the only one you get is CNN Headline News? All of the coverage is on regular ol' CNN.

oh, I see...forgot that there was another CNN channel

Ah! That explains it. OP, put on the real CNN, not Headline CNN!

Aparently the only CNN I get (thankfully) is Headline CNN. But regardless, I don't care if it's regular, Headline, secondary, children's, sports, etc...CNN, how can they possibly not be covering such a story live?
It seems whenever there is something negative about Bush, that CNN makes sure that all of it's flavors are tuned in.

CNN Headline News is just that. They have a continuous loop of news, fluff, weather etc. They don't do "live". That particular channel is not equipped to show you what you want it to show. If you want the regular CNN channel, find a satellite provider that carries it, although it seems to me you might be happier with Fox.

You might want to look harder. I have a hard time imagining you don't have good old regular CNN. CNN has Iraqis on right now talking about what a horrible man he was etc. etc. etc.

Luckily, we all have choices in what we want to watch so go back to Fox news and be glad you have it. I'll be glad I have CNN.

Well, I'll have to admit that knowing that CNN has more than one channel (I never realized that CNN headlines wasn't the same as the regular CNN) does put a better taste in my mouth for the station. All we get is the CNN headlines and I have always been amazed at how shallow and useless it seemed. I mean come on, who really wants to know the weather every 15 minutes for cities all over the world.

I am still a bit surprised that even their Headlines station wasn't covering the Saddam execution, but if you say that is par for the course, then I'll take your word for it. I guess my question now is why bother even having CNN Headlines in the first place?

Yes, I do prefer other news channels - Fox, BBC, local stations, etc... but I guess I shouldn't be so down on CNN if they indeed do have a real station that seems to broadcast real news at the real time. I was just very, very surprised that they weren't covering this big story on the CNN that I get.

Oh well, live and learn.

The point of CNN Headline News is that you can tune in for just 30 minutes and get a snippet of all major news stories. They do have shows in the evening but for the most part, it is so you can get a quick overview of major stories and not spend hours watching coverage of the same thing.
