CMs Walking Guests Down Main Street?

Does this happen during EMH as well? Is it expected to continue long-term or is it a temporary thing?

After morning they mosey you back to Frontierland when the park opens to everyone.

God Forbid we be able to go to where we want to in the park! This is absolutely one of the dumbest things that they have come up with. Was there an incident or something that prompted them to baby us like this?

Sounds like you don't understand what we're discussing.
The CMs don't FORCE guests down Main St. (or anywhere else.)
What the CMs are doing is not allowing some guests to RUN through the park after rope drop and possibly injure themselves or others in the rush.
The CMs walk in front and keep some guests from bolting at full gallop to
A&E's meet or 7DMT or Space Mtn. etc.
All guests are free to choose what they want to do first.

Rope drop walks have pretty much been a daily occurrence in various Disney parks for many years. You can blame people who, if given a chance, would run full-speed to whatever the hot attractions at the time are.

Back when I was in college, at the end of Grad Hap (happy hour with cheap beer) the ushers would hold the ends of a rope and 'rope' everyone out of the room. (Yes, some of the drunkards mooed. I think they actually liked it.)

Like that but in reverse? I'm having a hard time picturing this.

You know how there are CMs at the end of the parade with a rope and people get behind them and follow the parade? It's just like that, but there's no parade in front. :-) it's simply a tool to keep everyone somewhat paced at rope drop.

Yeah, I remember reading posts about the "running of the bulls" at rope drop at DHS in order to get to TSMM.

If you feel you NEED to run down main street at full speed, sign up for one of the many runDisney events. Every 1/2 Marathon or the Full Marathon will let you run to your little hearts content down main street and through tomorrow land, around and through the castle and then out via frontierland. No CMs to stop you. In fact there are lots of spectators cheering you on. Downside is there are no rides open that early in the day.

To be fair, there are many people who would just run down the street as fast as they could causing problems if they don't do that. I don't get the parking lot trams though. There has to be a way to speed that up a bit. Every other park I go to that has trams like that do not take as long, they just load up and go.

This is nothing new. I specifically remember CM's doing this in 1991 on my first "grown up" trip to WDW.

I can remember getting walked down Sunset Blvd to TOT and RnR in the 90's. There was no "opening show" at that time but people were allowed to enter to Hollywood Blvd before official opening time.

At Disneyland in 2011, the park opened at RD just a small announcement and other than the first couple of people, whose tickets were scanned and standing on just the other side of the turnstiles, no one was let through the gates until opening. People were free to do as the please once they got through the turnstiles.

Don't know if you've ever seen a youtube video of people sprinting down Main Street to get to Anna & Elsa, but that's pretty much why they don't allow you to run!!

This a must at MK! We watched a guy nearly flip a double stroller with his two kids in it because he was trying to dash to Anna and Elsa.

Pshaw....no park at WDW can hold a candle to Tokyo Disney and their daily running of the bulls. Seriously, look it up on YouTube. Good stuff!

It happened both times I was there with DisneySea being the worst! We just got to the side and walked quickly. I didn't see anyone collide or fall though.
