The Power of the DIS!!!

Hi everyone. My name is Fleagle.

Of course it is all speculation at this point, but if those are the Top 3, then the Power of the DIS is HUGE. I'd be kicking myself if I were a Top 10 person who had just lurked here, or had not become more involved in the only internet community with this much passion.

As to the notifications:
If you recall, they let the folks that were tied for 11th know about 24 hours after they had contacted the Top 10. However, that was just a few days before the official public announcement and voting began. We have about 3 weeks before the Top 3 voting begins... and at least a week (probably more) before they announce who they are. Even if they have been notified, the Top 3 have some hoops to jump through first. So it will probably be longer before those tied for 4th get a notification.

Those 24 hours waiting were the WORST. I don't recall the exact details, but I remember thinking that they MUST have notified the Top 10, and I knew I didn't get a call. So, the "thanks for playing" email was actually a relief.

One thing I do know for sure: 7 people will be disappointed sooner or later. I hope that the sponsors are kind enough to let them off the hook quickly. These folks have committed a great deal of time and energy to promoting the Disney and Careerbuilder brands. They deserve to hear the news directly rather than having to feel the disappointment build over a long time.

I know that had my email said "you didn't make it, but please do not share this information with anyone but your family" I would have honored that request. So I hope the sponsors will at least give those who didn't advance some peace. Obviously they know the vote totals.

Crossing my fingers for all... for the winners to celebrate and for those who don't make it to not be too disappointed.

Plus, to my understanding (which could be wrong) but Brady made it sound to Eric back in the top 20 that Disney gave him all the information to write a story/post a blog/make a poll or whatever. Which wasn't true. In fact, when one top 20 questioned the sponsors about it they said not to talk to him. He somewhat misrepresented himself...and if you remember, the "poll" didn't even have all the 20 finalists. What reporter would have an incomplete poll? Ok, so that being established...and take it at what it's worth, again I'm no expert. Not busting on Brady...just saying....

Mrs. Fleagle... you know how I feel about all that. But I do think I should say that I interpreted what Brady said to me to mean that he had talked to the sponsors. Whether or not he intended for it to appear that way, I don't know.

By the way, don't bust on that SUPER scientific poll. I think Disney should have used that poll to determine the final winner. And I'm not just saying that because I won! (thanks Mrs. Fleagle!)

Again... total speculation, but wouldn't it be funny if the two people that Brady ranked dead last in his original Top 20 list (Tripp and Meggin) made the Top 3?

I'm with you, I hope whoever is waiting to hear something, they hear something sooner rather than later. As you said, even if they are asked not to share, this has to be hard on them.

I have to repeat my same refrain, though. Once all background checks, etc are done, why would Disney and Careerbuilder.com not want to let the top 3 promote for as long as possible. It would be fabulous publicity!

So, you mean I can STOP voting on Brady's poll? Why didn't you tell me? My fingers are nubs! I thought that in the event of a tie they would defer to THAT contest! Criminy! I wish someone would keep me up to date with these small details!

As a life-long southerner. Born and raised in Bama and lived in Ga, Ok, Tx. I prefer the contraction as y'all ;-)

I don't have a pref, but for some reason, after midnight, I find it easier to type it as ya'll. But in deference to your wishes, I will try to remember to type it as y'all.

After all, y'all all know to call a tall pirate on the ball to answer y'all's questions about spelling and grammar!

So background checks take a couple of days...and a couple of days to receive/send all the paperwork...excluding weekends, that puts us into mid next week...

I agree, I'd think D-CB would want to promote, promote, promote this!! Maybe they will learn from their past mistakes and actually promote this all over. I think we did more promoting on DIS than anyone/anywhere else!

Just curious.....didn't they already do all the background checks and stuff earlier in the contest? I thought Eric said they asked him all that stuff way back when? You would think they wouldn't want any surprises at this point in the process. Right? Final 3 should already be ready to go!
