CMO TOP 10 Announced

Thanks for the good thoughts! Two issues:

1. If they have another contest, I want to enter, not run it... and maybe do some things better next time.

2. It was never about a free trip for me. If I had made it through I would have been willing to pay my own way for each trip (though it would probably require a second mortgage!)

I want to meet you! :thumbsup2 You make me proud!

Hits to the cmo site took a drop yesterday...

Well, I read thru the Great DISbate again, and used a scale to rank each candidate.

I have a clear winner...Justin! and I was as fair as I could be!

And you won't believe this - 3 people tied for 2nd! Wow - I'm not kidding. So I'll add another 100 votes total.

So I'll vote this way:
-1st place: 100
-2nd places(3 way tie): 33-1/3 votes each...rounded up to 34 each
-5-8 places: 10 votes each

Thanks for participating! I better get voting!

I don't know where I fell in your count, Catotigger, but I thank you for your support. Keep spreading the Magic, because there's a little Fairy Godmother in all of us!

To everyone who was sad by not making the top 20 and those who then felt the blow of not making (do not get me started about how mad I was about some of those choices) the top ten...

NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!

I am a semi-pro actor. I was sad and a little sidetracked about the CMO deal, but I refocused on my goals. I am super excited to say I've been cast in two paying acting jobs this past month! Both jobs are "Non Union" but pay very well. One of the jobs is for a TV pilot and hopefully will continue.

You all are great supportive people with so much to offer.
Keep dreaming with your heart and keep wishing on stars!

Congratulations! I will be keeping warm acting thoughts for you. Let us know the titles of the projects.

Keep spreading your magic!:wizard:

Vickie and I are wondering also - it's 11AM pacific time Tues and still no local press coverage as promised and no website update? I check the Seattle and Bremerton papers every day for CMO news, but nothing! I love the sponsors and I wonder if CB.com will be promoting us locally. Anybody getting local newspaper coverage?

Hey David,
loved your Autopia car video!
I am getting local coverage (very local). The LA Times, as far as I could tell did not consider this contest news. Nor did the local TV media. Maybe when Brittney Spears stays out of the spotlight, The CMO will be interesting to the Greater Los Angeles Area. In the mean time, I just keep working locally and spreading the Magic to all who will listen!

Oh - I know you would! :)

But what if it's MY turn to be Oprah? ;)

Me too Cat!!! I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to get to be the one to surprise everyone and pay for it all!!! I could form my own Dream Squad! :hyper:
Powerball is tomorrow night!!!

The arranged two newspaper interviews and a tv interview for me last year. I wasn't concerned about that stuff, so I didn't spend any personal time doing it. I was all about the person in front of the computer.

You mean the crazy obsessed people like us??? Huh??? popcorn::

Did you contact Brady?
Your link is messed up below.
You should just place it in your signature.

While I would hope that the Top 10 are getting friends and family in front of computers, I would also imagine that the winning candidate will not take a single vote for granted.

There are many, many reasons to use every resource to get the word out.

Selfishly, I hope that the Top 10 do an excellent job promoting Careerbuilder and Disney Parks because I don't want this to be their last contest. If the candidates all only work to rally 25 people each to vote for them over and over... then the reach for the sponsors will be 250 people. WOW. They could have made more impressions with a sign on a busy street. Why bother with another contest?

But furthermore, wouldn't each candidate have to assume that the other candidates would have as many or MORE friends and family? It is possible that the non-friends/non-family votes will be the difference between 3rd and 4th. Why sit and wait for those extra votes? Go get them!

If you only do what every other candidate is doing (including what the sponsors are doing for everyone) then the best you should be able to hope for is a tie.

Another reason to promote with local media: We are on Day 11 of the voting period. Which email would you rather send to friends and family today?
1. Hey guys... thanks for voting for me for the last 11 days. I need you to sit at your computer for 10 more days. Thanks. I really appreciate it.
OR
2. Exciting news! Our campaign is going so strong that I've been asked to appear on "Good Morning Ourtown" tomorrow morning! Tune in at 7AM. I am so grateful for your help. Keep voting! I'll have more updates on how the word is spreading tomorrow!

I think version 2 gets your friends and family more inspired... so its a triple bonus... more exposure for sponsors, more exposure for your campaign (and those critical extra votes), and something to inspire your friends and family to keep voting.

Another thought about Day 11. If you haven't already contacted all of your friends and family at this point and you are not rallying them to vote for you, I don't know what to tell you! So... do you think that every other candidate is just hoping that's enough? Or do you think there are some candidates out on Sunset Blvd. passing out flyers? If Amy Kate got only 10 extra votes from that effort, you are now 10 votes behind her. (Assuming she still put in her own hours voting for herself too)

Bottom line, every vote matters. This year, there are not 25 winners. You could argue that there are 3 winners... but in my mind there is only one winner. Do you want to leave a single vote on the table? Are you prepared to lose by one vote?

Ok... um... I guess I'll put my soapbox away. (Thanks for the loaner Tripp)

Thank you fgm! I agree with what you said. I got a call from the PR firm to set up an interview with a very small local weekly paper. Did Britney call you? She won't return my calls! I hope you do call Brady at the LATimes. He's been great.

Thank you, great analysis! I try to tell family/friends about Vickie's daughter, Karen, actually using CareerBuilder and about the SuperBowl CB ads. Agree w/you - CareerBuilder has to get a lot out of this to be willing to continue. Many thanks Fleagle!! David (Dav-odd) (DooDah)

I'd hope they realized that their exposure would greatly reduce with only 10 finalists vs 100 finalists out trying to get the votes flowing in. I haven't seen much buzz on the net about this contest. We in this room care about it, but most of the boards have been totally silent for a week now. As a matter of fact, most of the boards haven't even had one visit from a candidate.

Gotta say Eric, if they weren't sorry about passing on you, I am SURE they must be now!

The entire contest is based on promoting Career Builder, Disney AND ultimately the person trying to get the job!!!

WHERE IS THE BUZZ??? I have been doing search after search and nothing new and exciting.

The Top 10ers can be as supportive as they want of one another but that could just end up clouding the votes......are people running as a team or individuals, you know?

I would be calling all my CB/Disney contacts the very second I got a report of a slow site, etc. (as a matter of fact, when I was placing my "promised" votes, I was tempted to contact them myself due to slow servers and wanting to be assured my votes were being recorded). :confused3

I am so very envious of the position you Top 10ers are in --- please enjoy this enough for all of us!!! And good luck!!! I am ready to vote lots more!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Ann. I didn't really mean that to be a criticism of anybody in the Top 10. I just really hope that everyone is doing everything they can to get votes for themselves and to promote the sponsors.

Selfishly, I want there to be a bigger, better contest next time. In my opinion this year's prize is a step up from last year's (although I think last year's was HUGE). If it gets better than this? I honestly can't imagine it.
