You'll discover that quite a few of the contributors to this thread are fairly new to the DISboards ourselves. (It's just that this contest and this friendly group of people have inspired us to post away! ...The DISboards can be quite addictive, I've discovered!)

Have any of you checked out Brady MacDonald's LA Times blog lately? He posted the 10 finalists videos and wrote about them. Down in the comments section he has been adding updates as he gets them. Amy Kate is going to be campaigning in full Fairy-Godmother costume on Sunset Boulevard this Sunday morning.

I hope she can make it to the DISbate because Im SURE there are going to be stories from that experience that we all want to hear!

I really hope she gets someone to videotape the experience -- including some of her interactions with people and the crowd's reactions. She should edit a short video and post it on YouTube, then publicize the link like crazy on all of the Disney-related boards. 'Sort of a Real Word-flavored glimpse into Amy Kate's campaign... I know I'd enjoy watching it!

Come to think of it, in their copious free time , all of the Top 10 finalists should be videotaping any silly, public campaigning "stunts" -- for promotional purposes and posterity's sake. (I'm sure they'd be great for a laugh! )

I got my pins from the Fleagles when I got home last night! Sent them a quick message but wanted to acknowledge them here.

Aren't they super? Fleagle is not only creative, he has mad skills to put that creativity to use. I can picture stuff in my mind, but making it a reality is really hard - and it takes me forever!

I have to admit I'm just a half-hearted pin person. I've bought a few that we're meaningful, but I'm not a lanyard-wearing, pin-trading type. (not that there's anything wrong with that).

This pin, though has so much meaning to me, I plan to wear it here to work, and FOR SURE wear it whenever I go to a SPONSORs park. And I'm going to come up with something special to do with my extra one...

Anyway - thanks again Fleagle (and Mrs. Fleagle) for this tangible evidence of our shared experiences!

She asked about it and I explained about the thread and KTP's snowys.
She then noticed catotigger's comments about the pins and asked "what PINS!" (she is a pin collector)
So I explained about fleagle, or what little I knew as I am new to the whole CMO thing.
I guess you can see where this is going fleagle's!
Would there be a pin or 2 left for a newbie and his pin obsessive wife?
Will PM you with the details if there are.
If not, oh well.

Let me tell you, YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL!!!
After shovelling the driveway twice ysterday and once today with another few inches coming, im quite sick of it.
I do have pity for certain areas that have been hit worse than us.
Going down to -13C/8F tonight.
Oh to be at the "SPONSERS" right now, at 62F.

I'm so glad you like the pins and will forever remember what it stands for. I have an idea for the other one, but I'll post it later.
Enjoy Catotigger! Had Eric's CMO dream become a reality the "Community Magic Organization" would have been a reality too...and you all would surely have been the "Founding Members".

You may certainly have some pins....just pm me an address to mail them to and we'll get them out Monday.

Also, to fully understand the importance of the pin (because it isn't really a hot collectors item) you should go to Eric's website...look around and be sure to read his blog. EricKidwell.net

Eric (Fleagle) had made the top 20 but unfortunately didn't advance to the top 10. Admittedly we were disappointed, but also a bit surprised. Oh well. In any event, Eric had to make a plan assuming he DID make the top 10 because he took this contest very seriously and wanted to be ready with a bang come time for the big top 10 announcement. That's where the pins come in.

Anyway, if you have time go to his website or if you're up for a novel then you can refer back to the old thread. Wow, fun times! That's where it all began. Eric has a link to that on his site. Sorry, I don't know how to link you there from here....

Don't forget to pm me with an address and I'd be happy to get you some! They really did turn out great!

OK, second longish post of the day:

Some of you may remember from our original thread, that I mentioned something called Dean's corner.

Dean's corner is a monthly meeting where all the libraries' staff/faculty are invited to come hear about things happening in the libraries. I played my vid last month, but before I knew I had lost.

So at yesterday's Dean's corner I made a brief announcement about contest, then tried to explain about Fleagle, this board, and group of people. I told about the DIScademy awards - and let them know they had won the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role!

I had printed out the award and put it in a frame, and presented it to the group! They thought it was great - and wanted me to say thanks to you all. So...
