CMA's last night...a question...

Good point Denae! I didn't remember that part about Lonestar or maybe that was when I was getting some ice cream. I really thought it was aimed at Big&Rich.

Dh & I were flipping channels & stopped for a few seconds while Shania was singing with a guy (sorry, I don't know who he is). First thing DH said was "she's lip syncing", then they started doing some kind of cheesy dance together. Had to change the channel, so corny.

Gretchen Wilson looked awesome!!!

I was kind of hoping, she would have sang either Here for the Party or Redneck Woman instead of when I think about cheatin.

must have done that one since its her newest release from the here for the party cd.

Would have liked to see her win a couple of more awards but she was up against some other great songs and artists.

Yeah - I don't really understand the thrill of Shania Twain. (although I be the men will disagree with me)

Her "performance" last night was horrible...especially when it was obvious that HALF the duo was really singing (and it wasn't her).

Someone needs to give that girl a cheeseburger! And, I don't get what all the fuss about her is either. I did hear though, that she has been shut out of the CMA's and that Country Music doesn't really accept her and I think that might be why she was a "Special Guest". Either way - I can't stand when they lip sync. It makes it seem like they can't sing.

Tim McGraw had me drooling  And, I am sorry I missed Keith Urban - he is the new love of my life (sorry, honey)

Replace Billy with a Brass Pole and you prolly woulda had a better performance from her. Like back in the day before she was a star.

she must be a horrible live singer...

Sorry, but, she's a horrible singer live or otherwise. I think she stinks. Sorry Shania fans but the woman can NOT sing. I've seen her in concert and what a dissapointment.

I am bummed I missed most of the show due to a class, but I did get to see my "man" Alan. YUMMMMMEEEEEE!!!!! :) Bummer his sound was messed up.

I do agree with most of the winners. That's a change. Bummed Alan was shut out though. But, he has gotten his in the past, so that's okay.

I looked forward to the show all day. Some singers sounded good, others didn't. I can imagine how hard it is to get everything set up right for each individual or band in such a short amount of time.

Loved hearing Sara Evans "Suds in the Bucket" and loved the set with the laundry, washboard and tub too. Someone else said the decorated sets were too "over the top" but I liked them, they put a lot of effort into it and I for one appreciated it.

It was good to see Reba sing again, and I LOVED seeing one of my all-time favorites, KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, being inducted into the Hall of Fame!! He's gettin' old, but dang, he still looks good to me!! Saw him in an outdoor concert back in the 70's. I've always loved his voice, and his acting too!!

Seemed strange that the new Nashville Star winner, Brad Cotter, didn't make an appearance. Buddy Jewel, last year's winner, was there to present, so I wonder why they didn't have Brad too.

Did ya'll know that they are moving the show from Nashville to New York? Does it seem odd that there are no country music award shows in Nashville, home of country music?

just for 2005 for some reason...last night was in Nashville

Regarding the horse comment, one of the members of Lonestar said something about betting on a horse, meaning Big and Rich. John Rich was a member of Lonestar at one time so they were rooting for them to win.

I have never understood the appeal of Shania. All those little yips and barks in her songs makes me think of a chiuiauia! She is attractive in a trailer park kind of way, but she is no singer. It also irritates me that she courts both country fans and pop fans. With the two releases of I'm Having a Party, one version with Billy Currington and one with Mark McGrath of SugarRay. I mean, pick a genre, please! I don't think she would have become a headliner act if she hadn't had the great luck to get with Mutt Lange!

By the way, I don't think it was Brooks and Dunn's fault that they cut off Kenny. Pacing is the job of the director and this one failed!

However, I still was less then impressed with thier hosting duties.

LOTS of country stars court both country and pop. It makes them a LOT more money.

My other complaint is that too many of the songs were depressing. It's an award show. Sing something you can dance too (and not a slow dance!) You are suppose to be celebrating, not mourning!

While it was nice to see Kris, the voice is gone. I felt sorry for him.

I really didn't get Big and Rich either. They won't last, kind of like Billy Ray.

Even my boyfriend, who could care less is Shania sings, thought she looked bad last night.

Others might court the pop fans, but no one does it as blatantly as Shania. This instance of 2 versions of a song, pop and country, was also done with UP! as well, I believe. Not only that even the songs she passes off as country, are not exactly country sounding. They might have a little steel guitar thrown in, but there is a lot more pop-heavy beats.

I have to say I'm really disappointed with the CMA's last night. Seems like every year, they try and cram in more performers and let a few more awards slip over into the pre-show. That's really too bad.

Also i disagree that Brooks & Dunn were not good hosts. Trouble was it was done all wrong. I've been to 3 of their concerts and they put on a great show, and if they'd been left together for more of the show and let loose they'd have been a lot better. I blame whoever's the producer for this. Its hard to replace Vince but really, you gotta let the dice roll sometimes.

Course, I also think that last night was not the usual party atmosphere I'm used to for the CMA's. Did anybody else think this? Almost everybody sang something meaningful and poignant. While i expected that from a few singers, the fact that most of them did that left me a little dissapointed. All beautiful songs for certain, but I was hoping for a more upbeat night, and didn't get it.

Ah well, maybe the AMC awards will be fun. Too bad we gotta wait till spring.

I saw them on Kenny's site this morning. What awesome guys they both are. I'm quite angry that they didn't allow Kenny to finish his speech though. Dolly rambled for far too long.

I agree completely. The show seemed to be missing something. There wasn't a whole lot of excitement. And the few times that Shania talked, it sounded forced, like she didn't want to be there.

I was happy to see Reba perform, wish she would of won but Martina deserved it.

I have never heard of Big & Rich, me and DH were very baffeled by their performance.

Dolly almost seemed like she was talking to stall for time. It was rude that they cut Kenny off at the end.

Hopefully next years show will be better.
