CM was very RUDE on the phone and hung up on me!

Good news! I called back Disney dining and just got off the phone with a very nice lady who had no problem adding the note to the rest of my ADRs. That took like a whole 2 mins. I was on hold longer then me actually talking to her. I knew I got a good CM as soon as she picked up, she was all energetic and was like good morning thank you for calling disney dining where we're celebrating the year of a milliion dreams, and as soon as I heard that I knew I got a great CM.

To the former dining CM - did you have to make a certain quota - was there difficulty with manager if you spent too much time on the phone with one customer? Not to excuse any CM, I was just curious!

Some dedicated Disney Dining folks do while others did not. This is why sometimes you'll get some that are very business-like and are "next, next, next" (which is understandable as long as they are not rude) and others which are very casual and will talk to you for as long as you want.

Hopefully this will shed some light on the subject. My wife works for a phone casting company that disney outsources its dining to. remeber that most of these people are independent contractors that you are talking to. Some dont always buy in to the full magic expierence or cast member attitude that you would expect. Basically you can be talking to someone at their house, who has never even been to WDW.

I'm sorry if this comes across as snarky (I really don't mean it that way) but this isn't true at all.

We had our engagement celebration noted on all of our ADRs on the phone - and it was always mentioned in some way when we arrived for our meal. Leis at 'Ohana, a congrats dessert at Le Cellier, etc.

As I said, if you read on, the notes are generally not read by the CM checking you in at the podium. This is because they have to physically actually go into your reservation (instead of just looking at your name on the front page), scroll down, and read any notes that were put in. This is why some people have experiences and some don't.

Yes, I read perfectly what you said. I just think that when you keep saying they're "generally" not read that it's untrue. On the majority of our TS reservations our engagement was mentioned from the server. I don't think that was sheer luck so I do think they read them more often than not.

Not trying to be rude....really I am not. My husband and I are going for our anniversary in august and I just never would have thought it was ok to have that added to every reservation.

I was wondering the same thing. To me, an anniversary is one special day to celebrate your wedding/marriage. I would feel a bit weird celebrating for 2 whole weeks. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Like a previous poster noted on this thread, not every CM reads through the notes of every resv. so if you just note it on one ADR, you run the risk of not being recognized at all, unless you remind the CM.

In January, I put on the ADR's that we were celebrating birthdays 2 of the meals, and frankly, no one cared. It was not carried thru to the actual sitting down at the reastaurant. Don't be too disappointed if it is not noted when you check in.

Reason being is because I have read on here several times about people having a note about a birthday, honeymoon, anniversary, etc noted on their ADRs and the CM they talk to tell them that their anniversary or birthday or whatever shouldnt just be celebrated on just 1 day but should be for the entire trip and I agree.

Just wanna add that we will be married for 4 yrs this August. You wanna know how many anniversaries we actually got to spend together - 1 and it was our 1st anniversary. 2nd anniversary DH was on deployment and 3rd anniversary DH had to work to get ready for a deployment. So us celebrating our anniversary everyday for 13 days isnt gonna hurt or kill anyone. I think if anyone who is a military spouse can understand my point of view for the reason being to celebrate our anniversary each day we are down there.

For us, it was nice to already have everything noted so if the server wanted to do something special, great. If not, oh well. Personally, I would rather have it noted than to mention it to the host or hostess. I guess it just felt more like pixie dust that way since we didn't know if it was coming or not.

I suppose it depends on how important it was to you. If it were very important to celebrate at each and every dinner (as is the case with the OP) then I would definetely mention it at the podium. I just think it makes more sense than "hoping for pixie dust". Like I said though, every couple is different and what's important to one may be quite the opposite to another. There is really no right or wrong here.

What works for some doesn't work for others...

Last year we celebrated our 10th anniversary at Disney. We noted our anniversary on our ADR for the day of only. We mentioned at V&A that it was our anniversary trip but we couldn't go on the actual date.

We wore our buttons everywhere and whenever asked we told them it was our anniversary trip, but the actual date was XXXXX.

We were surprised to get special desserts some places with no notes on the reservation. By wearing the buttons and telling our server that it was our anniversary trip, but not the actual date pixie dust settled on us every now and then.

I guess even without noting on an ADR occasionally pixie dust heads your way.

That's not been our experience. When we celebrated DM's birthday, I had forgotten to mention it when originally booking 1 ADR (Chef Mickey's). I had to remind our server about it. But at 'Ohana, the CM at the podium saw it on our reservation when we checked in, and they had a signed card and lei waiting for her.

I just came back from our trip earlier this month and on my birthday with the note in the reservation and not said at the podium, there was a birthday button and a birthday menu waiting for me, with a terrific seat by the window.

Yeah, when we had our engagement noted on our 'Ohana reservation, we had a GREAT table for two to watch the fireworks. So romantic!

It looks like I'm in the minority here- but to expect a free dessert at every meal for your anniversary just doesn't seem right. I certainly can see that you want to celebrate it every day- DH and I celebrate every day of the year , but to expect congrats or free dessert on a day other than the actual day seems excessive. If many people did that I'm sure it really would drive the price of food up. Just me I guess.

I am not going to take sides on either side of this "debate" just offer our experience:

Last year, I had my birthday noted on the ressie and ordered a specialty cake at Narcoosee's (Sad I know, that I had to order my own cake )

Didn't check on it when we arrived because we were promptly escorted to our window seat and given a personalized Happy Birthday menu. When it came time for dessert, here comes my beautiful cake! Yea Me!

Did the same thing this year, but for my son - ordered the specialty cake, noted it on the ADR and ate at Narcoosee again. This time, I checked on the cake when we checked in, and the nice CM at the podium assured me they had the cake.

Well, here comes dessert and our waiter knew nothing about it as he starts to hand out dessert menus. YIKES - I have to pull him aside and let him know we have a cake waiting in the back that I have already confirmed is there. No biggie, he snuck back and got the cake and then without us asking, he came later with a personalized menu for DS.

I just think that there is sooo much that goes on in the restaurants that it is hard to keep up with every special occassion. As you can see, two VERY similar situations with two very different outcomes.

I dont expect something at every meal. Heck, Im not expecting anything at all. Just to hear congrats or happy anniversary or seeing "pixie dust" on our table once is good enough for me. Im already planning on making my own "pixie dust" by ordering a cake for room delivery while DH and I are at dinner of our arrival night - gonna be a total surprise for DH and I also already called Debbi from Coral Reef and got my personalized menu and diver all set up - once again a huge surprise for DH. Im not going to go down and have high expectations and not get anything and let it ruin my trip. Im not like that. I mearly just wanted the note put on my ADRs that way they no it is our anniversary trip and if they like to do something, great. If not, oh well. Like I said, I already planned my own "pixie dust" which in my honest opinion is better then any free desert that a TS place can give us. Truthfully I much rather have a dream granted like a lanyard or dream fast passes then free stuff at every meal.
