CM room rates

I know there are reduced room rates for CM's but I have a question. We will be moving my sister in on August 2nd for the College Program. We want to come down a few days early and stay a few days late. Is there any way to get a reduced room rate even though she won't be a CM yet? Does anyone know the number I could call so I could just explain the situation and see if they will make any accomodations?

they require a CM's ID # to get a discount on a reservation, and you don't get your ID card until you go through the Traditions class. (usually on the 2nd or 3rd day of the CP)

And your sister -- the one who will be the CM - - has to arrange it.

So even if she called it is pretty much hopeless? This just really stinks since she will be a CM for part of the time we are there and we will be paying the full rate for the room!

Just an idea, but...

When we moved our DD in for her CP in February, DH and I got annual passes and got the AP rate for All Star Music. It worked great for us, and knowing we would be going many times during her program (she is in the advantage program, so she will be there 7 months) we would have gotten the AP's anyway. And, only one person in the room has to have an AP to get the AP room rate.

Thanks for the idea! We already have AP's though. However, AP rates aren't out through July which is when we are going. I am hoping they will release AP rates for the summer months soon, that would help with the costs!

If this question is not allowed, I apologize in advance. But...would anyone feel comfortable posting or pm'ing me the number CM's use to make reservations. I just want my sister to call and explain the situation. I am 99% sure they will say no, but it is really for my peace of mind. I need to know I tried rather than voluntarily spend thousands of extra dollars. Thanks!

the whole no discount before you check in sort of stinks (this will be the second time that i'll be on the program and both times i had to pay for the room before i check in). but this time i went through priceline.com, i did the name your own price and put in $39.00 with a 2.5 star in the disney area (not west disney) and i got all star music for $39 a night. hope that helps!

I know that the rates change for peak times and holiday weeks, but when would we know exactly what the discount will be? My family and my boyfriend's family want to come down to visit me on the fall program over Thanksgiving, but only if they can afford it. So basically, it's up to me, and how much of discount they can get if they can come!! I didn't know if any of the Fall Advantage/Summer program CPs could figure out earlier for me and let me know!! Thanks!

You should be able to check that online by logging in to your account, through TEAM Discounts, under Resorts, and then under WDW Resorts. This is the case for us here in CA, at least. Not sure if it works the same for FL CMs. But, you should have access to that info online. It lets you not only check the rates but also book the room...looks the same as it does on the disneyworld.com site, but it's for employees only.

I am going to want to visit my sister over Christmas and I am thinking that if I wait until August when she moves in to reserve a room there might be limited availability. So I would want to make the reservation now and then have her switch it over to a CM rate when she moves in. Is this possible? Are CM rates even available during holidays?

Yes, CM rates are available during the holiday, but, the thing is, it is already limited availability (that is, they only set aside so many rooms to be available at the full CM discount) so if enough CMs decide to book during that time, you might still be able to get a room at less than the full discount or (worst case scenario) you might be out of luck. I don't think you'd be able to just apply the CM discount to a CRO booked room, for the reasons I stated above. My guess (again, a big guess) is that August probably isn't too late to book for Dec., but then I've never done it, so I could be wrong. Hope that helps. You should probably call to find out the answers for sure, though.
