CM Lanyard Pins available on eBay but not on CM lanyards

I just came back on Saturday form an 8-day vacation at the world. I enjoy pin trading but I am not obsessed with it. I was able to trade for at least 75% of LS 4 pins without much trouble. I can tell you that the Chip and Dale food pins are the tough ones from this series. I was able to trade for the cheesecake pin and it was the only C&D pin I saw all week.

I know next to nothing about pin trading -- what is a lanyard pin and what makes it different form other pins? I don't really "get" the whole pin thing, but I'm trying to understand it. Here's another question -- if you are going to start pin trading do you buy pins you like or don't like? If you're going to trade them away, do you buy duplicates of ones you like so you have something to trade? Like i said, I don't really get it -- help!

They have a hidden mickey on them to distinguish them from other pins. These pins are not sold by Disney. To get them you need to trade for them off of a CM lanyard. As for buying pins, you can buy either pins you like or don't like. I just would suggest trading only pins you don't like at first. Otherwise, you might regret your trade later. We've all done that. We usually try to find pins to trade at a lower price. Sometimes you can find them at Disney outlets or on ebay. But you have to be careful and make sure it is a tradeable pin. Sometimes if a deal seems too good to be true it might be.

DS11 and I were there over the weekend and the pin trading (for Lanyard series 4s) was excellent. Yes, the best pins were on pin boards (POP on Saturday) and on the Epcot MouseGears board, but he was able to get a ton of pins including several he did not have in his collection. Many were on green lanyards, but even I found some (and I was always a step behind him) :)

We also traded with some people at Pin Traders, and he even traded with some guests at AK and MK. All Lanyard series 4 pins. Picked up a really good one after Scoop's talk on Sunday!

It was a blast.
