Hopefully a CM will chime in with info. I know now the CM's have 3 reusable tickets they give their guests when he(she) uses their maingate to get them in. I know they are hoppers. Does the CM have to be with them when the guests decide to go to another park?

are you talking about a cm on their day off who brings a person into the parks as a guest? The CM shows their employee card and says me and this person (guest). The turn-styles CM then issues 2 park hopper tickets. On the back of the tickets your host CM name and employee number is listed. As you are a guest of the day off cm, it is just good manners that you spend the day together and dont just ditch the CM after getting into the park for free. As a guest of the day off CM, your behaviour in the park is as if you are a CM. If you do something you shouldnt, ie cause trouble or have to be removed by security, the day off CM, your host will get into trouble, the incident will be logged on their employee record.

On the other hand, if your host decides to leave and you dont, then it is perfectly ok for you to be in the parks, and park hop if you want to. Always remember though, that your park ticket will have your hosts name on it, and therefore even if your host is not there, your behaviour in the park is still linked to their employee record.

Yes, the CM is supposed to be with them at all times in the park. My husband works for Disney, and I have a maingate pass, so I can also take guests in. My husband does not have to be with me and any guests I bring, but I have to stay with my guests. If we go to another park, I have to go through the turn style first before their cards will work.

Let me ask you something.... What is the reasoning behind the CM having to be with their guests?

Their name and employee number is on the guests ticket, therefore they are responsible for making sure their guests adhere to Disney rules. Any bad behaviour by their guests will be traced back to them and logged on their employee record, which could jeopardise their employee benefits or even their job.

Also to me its just plain good manners. You have been brought into the park for free by a CM, therefore in my opinion, you should not abuse this privilege by ditching the CM once you are in the park.

You are talking about kids here right? Only kids would be rude enough not to adhere to rules. Im talking bonafide adults here. Let me ask you something else... You to tell me that the guests have to force the CM to be at 3 different locations at a park at the same time? If 1 guest wants to do something the other 2 don't want because each of the other 2 want to do something else how could the CM be in 3 places at once? Maybe the CM is a retired CM pushing 80 and doesn't want to hang out with someone 30 years younger.

Yes the CM is supposed to stay with their guests throughout the day. The guests no longer get park hopper tickets, the actual guest passes act as the park hopper tickets. The CM is responsible for their guests and their behavior and that is a little hard if the CM is not there.

The reality is that many people, adult or child, treat something differently when it's given to them for free rather than if they paid out of their own pockets - I think that's the reasoning behind it. If Disney has a rule, it's because someone along the line abused the privilege before it was a rule. I've seen lots of adult bad behavior over the years at WDW.

Do the CPs have the same perk? I remember getting white guest passes that said not for sale on them as a CP but I can't remember if I had to be there or not because I used them with my boyfriend and I was with him anyways.

No I'm not talking about kids, I'm talking about adults. You would not believe some of the stories I've heard, how people totally abuse the generosity of a CM who on their day off brings guests to the park.

Actually YES. If you are lucky enough to be taken as a guest by a CM into the park, then the rule is the group stays together. You do not split up and go to one location while others go to a different location. Is it that hard to stay together and do things as a group? Remember, you are a guest and your host is responsible for you, so therefore you do not ditch your host.

Well then, the guests should respect the retired CM pushing 80 and tour the park at that pace. It is very disrespectful to have the privilege of being a guest of a CM and then just ditch that CM once you are in the park. You cant have it both ways, you either PAY for your own ticket into the park and tour the park YOUR way or you are a guest of a CM, get in free to the park and tour the park with your host, at your hosts pace

Reread the post on the 80 year old please

If the 80 year old doesn't want to hang out with a 30 year old then perhaps they shouldn't bring the 30 year old in.

Honestly if someone is getting in free then they really shouldn't be whining about the rules regarding their getting in free. If you want to do Disney on your terms then pay, it's pretty darn simple. When you get something for free you adhere to the rules. Adults should be able to comprehend this simple concept.

I'd imagine the intention of the CM maingate pass allowing guests is for the CM to bring family and friends into the parks with them, not just get a bunch of people in for free and then leave.

sounds to me like you just want to get into the park for free, then once in the park you want to do your own thing and ditch your 80 year old host... That to me is very disrespectful and abusing the generosity of the CM host. You are benefiting from a company privilege, yet you don't want to abide by the rules of that company.

This to me sounds like you have found out that CMs have guest passes and you have talked an elderly CM into bringing you into the park as a guest, ie for free. It sounds like you dont know this CM and are just using them to get into the park for free and you have no interest in spending time with them in the park.

Partly this.

I saw something at Epcot last trip that looked like a CM getting a couple through the turnstiles they didn't know personally. Their conversation was one you would have with someone you didn't know.

Also at some point the couple said "Ok so we have to meet you back here at the end of the day?" and the CM looked like they were dressed for work in some sort of backstage maintenance role.

The CM does technically have to stay with the guest. HOWEVER, no body ever checks unless you do something stupid. This includes things like line hopping, getting fall down drunk at F&W, telling people you are in with out the CM who got you in, and anything in which security gets involved. If someone let's you in on their pass and doesn't stay with you then they must trust you an awful lot. This is to prevent CMs from selling their guest pass allotments. You can't even really give it away to strangers since if you go to the turnstiles and are like hey you 2 I can get you in for free you are then technically stealing money from Disney.

Also at WDW you are given a physical card that the CM only gets 1 of. So if you just get to run off doing whatever then you have to make sure you meet back up with them to give them their card back.

There are undercover security stationed at the gates that will watch CMs getting guests into the park; if the people obviously have no idea who the CM is, security will step in.

The exception is immediate family. If I were a CM and I got my parents into the park, they could spend the day without me and park hop without me needing to be there.

I have a friend who's sister has worked at disney for over 40 years. on our last 3 day trip my friend was given 2 ticket that were park hopper and we meet her one day and used her main gate pass she got us in ( I have a year pass) and then spend about 5 minutes talking with us and then had to go back to work we could not leave the park since we could not get back in. but I think it depends on who you get in and how long you have worked for disney

You missed part of what I wrote

I don't think anyone missed anything. People answered the original question - CMs are supposed to stay with guests. I would imagine it's the rule, regardless of how old the CM or guests are.

CMs can bring guests in as a perk. My understanding is the intention is for the passes is to bring people you can enjoy the parks with, rather than going alone or just with other CMs. It's a really nice perk. Many CMs bring their kids, parents, siblings, friends to enjoy the park together.

If you don't agree with the rules, call WDW and complain or buy your own ticket and do whatever you want.

Personally, I see no issue with the rule, and if there's a rule it's there for a reason, and it shouldn't really matter what the reason is.
