i just switched our reservation from SSR to VWL and I was trying to get a sense of how much the dining plan portion of the total was, versus the resort. The CM on the phone quoted me a number that sounded great (~$750 for 2 adults and 2 kids <10 on the Standard Plan). Later, I had the wherewithal to do the math myself, and the actual cost is more than twice that. What gives??

8 days for a family of 4 on the Standard Plan. When I did the math, it was over $1600. Not sure if the CM doesn't like math or....

Not even close to $750

Quick Dining Plan
$52.50 per person per night ages 10+ (+$4.31 versus 2017)
$21.75 per person per night ages 3-9 (+$0.76 versus 2017)

Regular Dining Plan
$75.49 per person per night ages 10+ (+$6.13 versus 2017)
$25.75 per person per night ages 3-9 (+$0.81 versus 2017)

Deluxe Dining plan
$116.25 per person per night ages 10+ (+$9.57 versus 2017)
$39.99 per person per night age 3-9 (+$1.24 versus 2017)

*Estimates based upon comparing prices with and without the dining plans and divided by the number of adults/children per room, and then by the number of nights. Rounded to the nearest penny.

They don't know the price of the plan. The only reason we know is because we go and do the math: book with and without plans and calculate. The CM should not have quoted you what they did UNLESS you are booking for sometime in Jan through early March. There is a discounted package out there that includes dining, and that $750 COULD be correct for that offer.

I am going in Jan and using the Armed Forces Salute for a room discount.

Then I have no idea where they got the $750. Did you actually book it with her? If so, I'd take it at that price; you got a steal! But check to be sure what you are charged or what is left to pay on the balance to be sure.

Well that's just it. I looked at my notes and she quoted me $789; however, the total for the trip (8 nights in a 1 br villa in Boulder Ridge @ WL + Standard Dining Plan for 2 adults & 2 kids, with a 40% military discount on the room) amounted to just over $5000. I can't figure out her math. I'm on hold with them now.

Called back. Got an accurate quote (was what I had estimated ~$200/night for the Dining Plan). Not worth it for us, esp with DD6, who has significant feeding delays and only eats puréed food.
