CM "Cast Names"...

I called today to ask a question and got Donna Mary. I thought that was such a strange name, now I know why!:D

When I asked for a supervisor she was Briar Rose...sort of knew that it wasn't her real name. princess:

Hey Amberle3!!

My husband has an Uncle Eight!!

I think it's because he's the eighth uncle or something like that. We just went to his 90th birthday party in Boston last summer. I don't really know what his real name is. Just have always called him Uncle Eight!

I've talked to some really sweet CMs in making PS for this trip, but the name that I remember is October. That was when I caught on to the fact that they were using "stage" names.

I didnt know about Disney doing this, but I knew credit card companies do it.Large banks and car places like Ford so it is not odd at all

I spoke to Capachino the other night! It's also fun to ask the cm's where they are from. They are not always from Florida. Sometimes, especially late at night you get a call center from Kansas City.

My fiance is Asian and apparently it's quite common to just refer to family members by number because the families can be so large!

Can you imagine trying to come up with names that had numbers incorporated into them? "Yes, this is my daughter, Cinco de Mayo"

The CM when I called was named Andrea or something...not unusual at all. Now I'm disappointed! lol. I used to work in collections and the people at the call center all used aliases to protect their identities.

If a cast member has a unique name or they were hired years ago, they are able to use their real names. But like the previous posters have pointed out, most people have common names and would cause too much confusion if there were more than one with the same name.
That's why CMs pick from a list of pre-approved "stage names".

I just thought of 2 names that stand out...Cinderella and Baloo.
They are actually a semi-retired married couple... :p

When I was a CM at the Disney Store Travel Desk, WDTC actually supplied us with lists of the "stage" names and the CM's real names for both the Tampa and Orlando Res. Centers. You would be surprised by how many of the unusual "stage" names are their real names!;)

Probably about 2 years ago, I got a CM named "Ariel" when calling to make ressies. When she said "Ariel" I said "Oh yes, and I am Mary Poppins" ROFL:rotfl:

I definitely didn't buy THAT name, LOL, but I have noticed that they have gotten stranger.

Now my suspicions have been confirmed! ::yes::

My 14 y.o. goes to school with two "Ariels!" One is spelled just like that, the other is "Arielle."

The two that I recall speaking to over the years are Sequoia and Emerald.

I got an Elton tonight. Now I am paying close attention to their names! He was clueless!! I ended up hanging up. I will just call back in the morning.

Wow--what a gem of a fact--that explains why Hattie Jo helped me make my ressies. Soooo funny! I may have to make another PS just to get to hear another great name.

Wasn't me--I promise :teeth:

Actually I called and got her before I we got a really good laugh out of it. :hyper:

Sue Ellen

Seven and Arizona ROCK!!! They both work in guest services and dine help as well.

Alice Dee may be the best agent you'll ever get....ask for her! ;)

This is really interesting, I had no idea they were fake Disney names! I got a message today from Marilyn at IPO- that's not unusual at all, but from now on I'm going to pay attention to those names!

I used to work at a rental car call center and when we reported for work, the supervisor would say, "Who are you going to be today?" since some people changed their "call names" frequently. The supervisors had to keep track so they knew "whom" they were listening in on when monitoring calls. :hyper:

I was "Holly", it was a fun way to fulfill the girlhood fantasy of having any name you wanted since you hated yours!

I've never taken notice to what the CMs' names were.

But I do have a cousin named Sevin. After her dad, Kevin, and mom, Sarah.

I found this out a couple years ago when I called to complain about one of the CM's over the phone. It just so happened that the new CM that I talked to told me that they had several complaints about the one I was calling about and gave me his real name so that I could write a letter as well. I don't even remember the situation, but I do remember that tidbit of info.

IS THAT WHY???

every week when I called to put more down towards my Ressie... I got a , Polly Ann, Anna Sue, Mary Ellen, Dixi Rose, I said to my husband " I think it is a prerecquisit that you must have two names to work customer service here".... I found it really odd... But Today when I made my last payment, her name was Henrietta.... LOL..

I find that interesting.. and also wonder why they cannot use thier own names.
