A friend of mine did the college internship at Disney last year. She worked at one of the food stations in MGM and they used their real names (her name is Lauren and it read Lauren) and instead of writing where they were from below their names like they usually do, they got to choose which character was their favorite (due to that 100 yr celebration at the time or whatever).
I used to work at a drug store in college. We got to use our real names, but if a new person was hired, and there was someone else by that name, the new person would use a variation of the name, a middle name or something new alltogether. So we had Mike and Michael. When we hired another Mike (a friend of mine), he had to go by his middle name, which he hated. I then had another friend hired & his name was Tom. Well, we already had a Tom, and a Thomas, as well as a Brian (his middle name), so he got to choose a name - Billy (after Billy Idol!) The funniest part is that most employees never realized that these guys were not using their real name. So it's not just Disney.
I have never heard this before!! LOL... what resorts are you all calling?? I know that it is mandatory for cast members to have on name tags while onstage in guest areas at all times; so therefore, if your name is Mary, and you don't have your own name tag, you could walk around and be called Jane all day, because that's the name on the tag, but never have I heard of this!! LOL
