Just returned from a long weekend at the Sandestin resort. We stayed in a studio room on the first floor. Room was spacious, well decorated and clean. View was of the front entrance way. Free bikes for 4 hours per day but you had to drive or walk a mile to get one. Beach was over a mile away but provided chairs and umbrellas for free. Area was all very nice. I'm happy to answer questions!

Thanks for the report. I spend the winter in Florida, and will be stopping at this resort for 4 days on my way home in early spring (using Hilton points rather than DVC points.)

Sounds like a fun winter. I meant to say fourth floor and not first :)

I have thought about using our points to stay here at some point. If the beach is over a mile away, does the resort provide a shuttle? If not, is there plenty of parking at the beach, and is there a charge for parking? What types of activities for families and kids are available at the resort? Is there anything (besides the beach) near the resort that is worth doing or seeing? How difficult was it to get a reservation at this resort (I'm assuming you used DVC points?)?

Thanks!
Kim

The resort does provide a shuttle but it doesn't run too often and they advise to drive over. Since we were off season there was plenty of places to park. There is a pool with bathrooms reserved for Intrawest guests. I imagine during peak season parking might be an issue. There was no charge for parking.

We really didn't get out to see much of the area. Lots of golf. Canoes, bikes and kayaks are available for free. I saw lots of people with fishing rods.

I think the difficulty in getting a reservation will depend on the season. I called in late August to get mine. The only availability was a studio.

I liked the off season because it wasn't crowded. September always holds a potential for hurricanes...

I live in Panama City Beach 60 min away and off season you can get great deal some as low as $45 a night.
