Club 33

What Disney fan DOESN'T dream of going to Club 33? I know I will never get there, but if I did I am sure I wouldn't be able to eat anything due to nerves and the fact that I would be crying the whole time!!!:upsidedow

I see so many people over time post here about Club 33 and why they want to go and my impression is that many want to go and say they went or want to go for s pecial occasion but I do not get the sense they are Disney people.

You have the guru's Like HydroGuy, SkiingFast, Sherry E, and kylie 71(who can top that here at least one trip every year since 1977) just to name a few, they invest in Disneyland, not just the park but in Walts ideals, his caring for Family Fun, and his love for mankind.

I spent many hours with Walt and Lillian mainly in the Burbank studios as he used to tow me from room to room building to building try to explain to a very shy 9 year old and older thru the years. My uncle was a producer for Walt which allowed me the priledge.

I have been considered to be a very tough individual over the years, but,in two weeks, I will be having lunch again at Club 33 having been invited by two caring individuals, who push forward Walts spirit for the love of the family.I will be standing there looking at Walts picture looking out the window with tears running down my face as I walk around a look for my friends shadow joining us for lunch. I would give up a 100 visits(if it were possible to have that many) to those people who take the time everyday to help others find their way through Walts home, mine and many others.

I am sure I have left out many names, not on purpose, just getting old and things sometimes just do not pop into my head, I sincerely hope not to upset anyone...and if I could wave a magic wand and give my virtual friends the chance I would do it in a minute.

And thank you to all the members who have made many special moments come true.....A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes...never give up on your dreams no matter how tough daily life becomes...you never know what is around the next corner..like when I got the email for an invite and please thank those "Walts Angels" for inviting you..you will never forget the experience.

Jack

PS Please forgive the spelling, grammer, etc..iphone is not the easiest to use for this..I know it is a bit sappy but that is what I am at times.

Jack that is such an amazing story! You brought tears to my eyes! Thank you for sharing!

Jack that is such an amazing story! You brought tears to my eyes! Thank you for sharing!

Its how I feel about Walt, Disneyland, Club 33 and his embassaries(sp) who do make dreams come true. I do wish everyone who truely loves Disney could have the opportunity to dine there, see the art work, the Trophy Room and partake of some amazing food with their family and friends.
Dreams to come true, I wish I could just convince my friend.

Thank you and have a nice evening.

Or you have the people like myself, who are not on this forum everyday (or even close to that), who go to work each day, trying to bring magic into each child (and child & heart). I love what I do. I may be young, and missed out on Walt's time, but that doesn't make me any less of a Disney guru, or the sense that I am not "Disney people". I commute each day, past the nearest Disney Store, to a Store that I feel brings more magic. Because that is where I want to be. I am not just there to work (bc believe me, the pay isn't great, and gas isn't cheap), I am there bc I love what I do, I believe in the Disney brand, and I was trained to be a Disney Ambassador.

Now, if you will all please excuse me, I need to get to sleep. I open our store tomorrow, and I need to pick out our Apprentice for the Day to help Wake up the Magic in our Store. pixiedust:

I wish there was a way to "like" your post! What an awesome story. I agree, there are so many true fans who are so deserving. I really hope they get the chance to have that experience, and have it be a meaningful one, vs. just something to cross off the list.

We got very lucky in that my husband had a work associate, that's company was a member. We got to eat there twice for lunch. The first time it was just my husband and I. I wanted to make sure I was able to take it all in. From the glass elevator, to the art work and seeing all the rooms. Even the special bathroom. :) I can not even tell you how many pictures I took. It was not about the food, or the meal. And it wasn't even something just to say "hey I've been there." It was truly the most magical experience for me. The second time we took our son, since we knew he was older and could appreciate it (raised to be a true Disney fan of course). They were experiences that I will never forget. Sadly my husband does not have that associate anymore, so that's the end of our going to Club 33. But that's okay. I know we were lucky enough to go twice.

It really is a Disney guru's dream come true. I hope it comes true for those of you dreaming to go! pixiedust:

That's awesome HappyHaunt! I was raised on Disney so have known about the Club for a long time, and have since raised my children on Disney. When I was a kid, my step moms boss was invited to the Club for lunch on business. She had never heard of the Club, and was not really into Disney at all. She actually declined the offered! My step mom & I thought it was so funny! We then explained to her what it was, but she didn't mind skipping out on it, was no big deal to her. Lol

Jack, you make it sound so magical, and I know it is!
So happy you and your family get to have that experience again..
I love your thoughts, thanks for sharing a little bit of yourself with us.

The post was meant to express my feelings about what I observe when I see the multiple posts. I am not a member and never will be one, I am not dising anyone, but I do not observe that Disney love when I read most. I am not a Guru and never will be and as I meantioned I can not list every in my post, I was listing my examples that came to my mind last night..nothing is personal.
I wish more people were like you........and you are not alone..I will work up to 2-3 jobs sometimes 16-18 hrs a day and in a place that does not exude any disney magic.

Have a magical day,

Jack

Club 33 has been on my bucket list forever, yet I would never be so forward to ask for an invite on the forum. I can't imagine a member taking responsibility for a complete stranger. But I do understand why some posters try.

I'm sure BJD did not mean to offend, but I understand the pp's viewpoint. How can anyone gauge someone's merit through their posts or participation on the boards? By what standards does someone deserve that experience?

I did not hold Walt's hand (I wasn't born until 1967), but I do love Disney. I grew up watching the tv specials and movies. I played with the toys, heck I even have my old Mickey head plastic bank and my Disney on Ice program! Visiting WDW was only a dream for my family. I never walked through the gates of WDW until I was 40! We were hooked and fortunate enough to become WDW APers, then DL APers. I was delighted when I could bring my parents along a few years ago...Disney fans forever and first time visitors in their 60s.

I was reading my local paper today and the quote of the day really fits this thread...

"Many of us spend half of our time wishing for things we could have if we didn't spend half our time wishing."--Alexander Wollcott

I've found (through being a HUGE fan of the Dis podcasts) that one can eat at Club 33 through the Backstage Magic Adventures by Disney Trips through the DIS. Now this tour isn't cheap...about $2400 per person. I'm currently saving my pennies and hope to tag along in 2013-14.

I could also the VIP route during the slow months and probably luck out with a reservation. I was there last June and talked with a family (across the ropes at F!) who had just finished eating at Club 33 through their VIP tour. I think you have a good chance at getting in, especially during slow times.

Just wanted to point out a couple of ways to make that Club 33 dream a reality. Good luck to everyone!

Backstage Magic (now $2700) does "try" to eat at Club 33. My tour was on June 15, the exact day Carsland opened and I told my DW that our chances of having breakfast in Club 33 that day, with all the celebrities and executives around, were slim to none.

Imagine my surprise when we arrived at the Blue Bayou and ran the doorbell next door (after the Guide inputed the secret code). The door had a big 33 next to it.

So, we did breakfast at Club 33 and the tour gave you plenty of time to walk around and take in the ambiance of it and take pictures of anything we wanted (my favorite is about 10 of the tour members bending, slightly, ever so slightly, over the railing on one of the balconies in a classic Partridge Family pose). Also, the one where DW and I are on the balcony and the door is over our left shoulder.

What made it really cool, and I reference some of the previous posts here, is that all of us knew where we were and what it meant and why it was so special. None of us may have met Walt, or even lived in CA or FL, yet we were all big fans of Disney. All of us were extremely appreciative.

It is not a guaranteed stop, though and it is not mentioned in the daily schedule for Disneyland, so although your chances are good to execellent, they are not 100%. The are trip reports were Club 33 was not visited.

But, since we live near Chicago, IL, it was going to be the best chance we ever got. And, truly, that tour is so magical, not eating at Club 33 would have been a disappointment, sure, but it would not have lessened our enjoyment of the trip in anyway.

I think the DIS exclusive tours do include Club 33, but I may be wrong on that. I know that their ABD tours always include an exclusive element or two. :thumbsup2

Nicely said, HalloweenQueen! :thumbsup2

Thank you Halloweenqueen for understanding my point. Nobody should assume anything, about anyone.

And I know that BJD did not mean to offend me, or anybody else for that matter, and I cannot say that I was offended. I was just trying to make that point that just bc somebody doesn't have 15k+ posts, does not make them any less worthy. And with that being said, I am not in anyway implying that is what he meant, but rather, what one person writes may be taken by one person one way, and another person a different way. It is not safe to assume. And in no way would I have expected him to list, let alone remember, all the names he wanted to, I am confident there was more.

I hope that makes sense (it does in my head :lmao:), and I have no hard feelings to anybody on here. I wish everybody luck in fulfilling their dream of Club 33, you never know when your Fairy Godmother or Godfather is watching.

With that being said, I am in a magical mood today, so maybe somebody will get a PM for me with a wonderful offer. pixiedust:

What Jack was trying to impart is his feelings about when he visits Club 33, how special it is to him and his family and a little bac ground why. His family lives Disney 24/7, a living room deicated to Walt and Disneyland and Disneyland music constantly playing..this would drive most people absolutely crazy butnot his family and as HalloweenQueen stated can not judge a persons merit by the number of posts or there stated intentions.
But at the same time there may be a number of people who have posted on here for years and visited the land more times than some of the newer memebers can imagine that are still dreaming and wishing for that special opportunity. It never hurts to ask but you will find some folks a bit defensive about the continuim of poster who jump in and jump out carrying less about the history and the uniqueness of Club 33.
Jack expresses no ill will and wishes all the best at getting their shot at a very special place.

All have a great weekend, ignore the spelling and grammer errors.

Jack

I hope my post did offend anyone either. :thumbsup2

I just wanted to let everyone know there are options if Club 33 is really important to you. pixiedust:
