Club 33?

It's certainly not the most formal Disney restaurant. That title would go to Victoria & Albert's. And while I think it's just sour grapes, occasionally I have seen people argue that there are one or two other Disney restaurants with better food. I strongly disagree with that stance. Regardless, I don't think anyone can argue that Club 33 is--by far--the most special of all Disney restaurants. I can't imagine that you'll have anything but a spectacular time.

Sure, it's a restaurant in DL that has a really short waiting list and only costs $33 to join for life. Just kidding, it's a private club/restaurant in New Orleans Square in DL that is very exclusive. The waiting list is about 7-10 years and the sign up fee is like $7500, plus monthly fees. As a member you can take people to DL for free as long as they eat at Club 33. Some of my info might be slightly off and there is more but that is the jist of it. Othersd better informed or actual members can fil you in better.

It's kind of looked at as the holy grail of Disneyland fanatics!

Its funny that V&A's would come up, I have to say that though intimate I would say that Napa Rose was more formal at least in its menu and the food there was AMAZING! I did coursed meals at both and Napa Rose won hands down.

Saying that, I think that Club 33 is about the experience. It is also about being in on a "secret" that in the grand scheme of Disney few have gotten to experience. And the history alone gives it the feel of being the "most important place to dine" in all the Disney parks.

But saying that I have tended to hear more about the restroom then the food. Haahaha!!! But doesn't mean I still don't want to give it a try.

Well seeing that they have a 14 year waiting list to become a member, that Club 33 is the only restuarant that serves alcohol in Disneyland, and that membership dues are astronomical I'd say this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would go.

Since I am the friend who is taking scrappinmom, I say YES!!!!!!!!! It is going to be so incredible! And how much better to share it with a fellow Disney freak??? I have wanted to go for FOREVER! I can't believe it fell into my lap.

The sad news is, looks like DH will be home that day and will be joining us... I need to seriously make him read up on the history of it so he can properly understand it's coolness...

I haven't eaten at Napa Rose but we did the Vineyard Room which was excellent. The food was *maybe* as good as Club 33 but not better and it didn't come with the incredible experience. VR was also more expensive.

But I agree, it's really about the experience. When I go I like to dress up a bit as I think it's a special opportunity. They recently changed the dress code so people can't go as casual as they had been, but there are still a lot of very casually dressed people. I know people have spent the day at a theme park, but I still think they should make some effort to not be a complete grunge.

That was going to be my next question....We will be spending the day at the park...I'm pretty darn sure of that...but I was thinking since it's March, I could probably just wear nice capri's and a shirt & be ok for the evening.

I believe capri's are OK, but no sleeveless shirts or tank tops. Since you aren't staying at a hotel and therefore can't run back to the hotel to change, I would bring a dressier shirt or sweater and shoes and leave them in a locker for the day. Then just do a quick change before dinner. You don't have to dress up, many people don't, but I think it makes it a more special experience if you dress up even a bit for it!

That's a good idea. I was wondering too what on earth I was going to do about changing! I don't want to go into Club 33 in my Nikes or my Crocs! I'll probably also go with capris and bring a nice sweater.

HAHA!! I've been on the Dis now for a few months since I booked our land/sea for this year! You know who told me about the Dis? KIM! Of all people.

Once I learned a few things, your lime green WDW shirts made a whole lot more sense!!!

That's a good idea.....We may be staying at DLH for the night...but it would still be nice to just leave the shoes/sweater in the locker...

& yes Sillylittlepixie....I think I'll try to find a nice lime green sweater to wear!

-No flip-flops allowed. When you check in at guest service, you will get a list of do's and don'ts. Heed them. Capris and clean sneakers and a nice blouse or Disney T-shirt is fine for lunch, something nicer is best for dinner.

-Order the Pirate Punch.

-Play a game called: sip your water. It's fun to see how fast the Evian people refill the glasses.

-Take the camera into the ladies' room.

-Take a larger handbag into the ladies' room (esp. if you are a scrapper).

-At the top of the lift, turn left walk two steps. The phone booth is from the Happiest Millionaire and the shopping cabinet is just to your left from there.

-Buy from the shopping cabinet and pay with a debit or charge card. Ask very sweetly to keep the Club 33 pen you signed your slip with.

-Tempting as it may be, don't steal the chargers with the Club 33 logo on it.

-Tip well. The servers sometimes have to put up with strange people sometimes.

I always bring my camera to the ladies room! WHen we ere in Vegas (hey wait I was with SillyLittlePixie then too!!!) anyway....I took pictures of the ladies room at the Paris hotel! They're beautiful!!!!

Well this is something that I know about. We are members of the Club.

I do believe that the experience is totally worth it and if you can afford it, GO FOR IT.

When you go with your friend, DO NOT mention that you won it at an auction type function - this is prohibited. Members pay yearly annual dues, but no monthly fees. I have also heard that Nicholas Cage is a member, I haven't seen him (I have only been a handful of times), but you never know.

I opened up this thread in another window to try to answer some questions, so lets see if this works. But first this IS the dress code. If you do not adhere to it, you will NOT be let into the Club and the member who made the reservation will be charged for the tickets and a no show fee. I think the OP mentioned that March 3rd is their reservation time, so pay special attention to the lunch dress attire. Club 33 doesn't serve dinner on this day (Monday).

2.11.1 “For lunch, members and guests may come in fashionable casual attire in order to enjoy the Disneyland Resort in comfort. However, no tank tops, cutoffs, swimsuits, bare midriffs, sweatpants or beachwear maybe worn. Walking length shorts are acceptable. Jeans are acceptable, provided that they cover undergarments and are not extremely faded or torn.”

2.11.2 “If members and guests have been enjoying the day in the Disneyland Resort parks, evening casual attire is acceptable for dinner. For gentleman, collared shirts and trousers are appropriate; for woman, an informal dress or pants with blouse are appropriate. A common question is whether shorts or short pants are acceptable. Shorts or short pants are acceptable for lunch only and not for dinner.”

2.11.3 “Appropriate dress for children and young adults should be in keeping with standards set for adults.”

Regarding the pricing into the Club. Yes it is true that you get into Disneyland for "free", but you pay for it in the Club. With lunch or dinner there is a minimum amount you must spend. Dinner has items with pricing and if you don't order enough money wise, you will be charged the difference. I don't recall the minimums at the moment, and my gal is out today, otherwise I would let you know. But the pricing is similar to what the Park Hopper passes cost at the ticket booths.

Yes, Club 33 is the ONLY location in Disneyland that you can purchase alcohol. I don't drink so I don't know the quality. It better be good quality, cause it is expensive.

Like I have said, I have only eaten lunch there, so I don't know the quality of dinner. But I don't think it could be bad, IMO. I just wish I had enough money to eat there more often. I think for a family of four (no alcohol), we were able to get out of there for about $300 - $350.
