Club 33 with a black AMEX?

I personally did not have a big problem with it (C33) until it closed off the Court of Angels to main stream park guests.

Yeah, I admit to some hater-feelings due to the "stealing" of the Court of Angels, too. I can logically separate that the members had nothing to do with it, it was Disney's doing... But logic and emotion don't always go hand in hand, and I feel very jealous of the few that still get to enjoy it. :sad1:

I am still attempting to figure out why the powers that be of Disney ever was interested in having an "exclusive" club in the park in the first place. Aside from the obvious monetary increase.

Mr. Disney desired a private location to entertain visiting dignitaries and other "important" peeps.

Like many others, I'm sad about the Court of Angels too. Hubby and I spent a lot of quiet moments there on our honeymoon, having heard that it was likely going to be a part of the remodel (but not believing it at that point!).

Just as the loss of the Court of Angels to the public is missed, the loss of the original iconic Club entrance door is a more of a sore subject among many members...not many take joy in the new entrance. We have all lost a piece of history through the progression.

Which if you look back at the time period would be almost expected/required if he wanted to do business. He needed to have someplace to take celebrities or business partners that had some privacy. It would be expected.

On a couple of recent occasions, there have been well dress groups waiting at the original door -- unaware the entrance had moved :scared:

Too funny! Lol
How I would/could have fun with that scenario if I happened to observe that situation.

I do not understand this. Why is Disney seeking out folks with a lot of money to become members of Club 33? How does this benefit Disney?

Because people without a LOT of $ can't afford the initiation fees/dues. If you stay at the Grand in a Concierge level room or take a VIP tour, you obvioulsy value Disney with $ spent and MIGHT like to spend a LOT on C33. If I had the $, I'd be a member, and I'm as unassuming a person as any when it comes to exclusivity. Not everyone there is interested in being "elite"
