Clothing steamers...

I know that personal irons are not allowed in the staterooms, but what about the small personal clothing steamers?

Has anyone used these before? How well did they work for you? I'm curious because I worry about the formal clothes becoming wrinkled during transportation.

And on that subject...how do you all pack your formal evening attire? When I go on vacation, I tend to pack those comfy clothes that travel well. Since this will be our first cruise or vacation requiring such attire, I haven't a clue.

I pack it..don't worry about the wrinkles and let disney's laundry press them when we arrive..it only costs a few bucks and well worth it.

If and iron isn't allowed..why a steamer.

Well I will probably get flamed for this but oh well. I pack our steamer, use it and make sure I unplug it and pour out the water afterwards. We have the my little steamer from joy mangano (got it off of ebay) I love it. Of course not sure how it works on formal wear but there is the Downey wrinkle release stuff, it works pretty well on normal clothes, but like I said not sure if it would stain acetate or silk/satin though.

It helps if you pack your dressy clothes in the plastic that you get from the dry cleaners. We'll use our garment bag & carry the garment bag on board so we're sure the luggage handlers don't pile luggage on top of our garment bag. Be sure to avoid overstuffing your garment bag also.

You can also send your formal out to be pressed by the laundry service, it's about 3 or 4 dollars. But packing the dress in a drycleaners bag, you will avoid some wrinkling, and carrying it on in a garment bag will also help, but I think sending it out is so easy. I doubt that steamers are "legal", but I am sure that many of them and travel irons are brought onboard and used.
