:wave:Hi there! We are getting ready to head to DL late Sept. through early October. We are from a warm climate, and last Sept., even with a heavy sweater, we were miserably cold at night. I'd like to ask you, what are some good warm clothing options? Warmest fabrics, etc? Good jacket suggestions anyone? Thanks!

Fleece or Down are pretty warm. Down may be a little too much though. I am a big fan of layering....maybe wear a shirt, a light sweater and then a fleece jacket.

Were you wearing socks? As somebody from a warm climate - for park touring I have a tendency to wear Teva type sandals. Then at night your feet get cold.

I live here in SoCal and I get cold quite easily. When touring the parks in winter (weather in the 50's), I will wear UnderArmour tights and an UnderArmour shirt under a hoodie or light jacket and jeans. I also wear knee-length snowboard socks and tennis shoes. I even wear one of those ear-warmer headbands. That sounds really extreme, but I've never gotten cold watching the fireworks or WOC at night! That said, late September early October shouldn't be that cold yet. You could get away with what I mentioned above but without the under-layers.

Have you tried an Under Armor type shirt for layering? My husband wears them under his uniform in Winter and they are warm. The best part us they aren't bulky at all. They are really snug though so just be prepared for that.

The first time I went to Disneyland in early October the weather fooled me. I'm from Vancouver Canada so I can tell you what cold is as its damp, cold or slightly chilly for a good portion of the year being right on the coast. So I figured I had it in the bag when I saw the temperatures for Southern Cali.

On one hand I was correct as I got a sun tan during the day and used sun tan lotion and felt that I probably could have gone swimming on several occasions. However when the sun went down it got down right cold, and I was an unprepared idiot not wearing a jacket while waiting for the last parade of the day. My teeth were chattering, I was huddle up to my mom and I still caved and went and purchased a $50 hoodie while I was waiting. Let's say after that day that I layered my clothing in the evening to long pants, runners, a long sleeved shirt and a hoodie. I think you would be way too hot if you wore a winter jacket, but as long as your jacket is lined and you are wearing sleeves, you should be just fine.

Fleece is probably a good choice, I agree with a PP that down would be too warm.

I feel that even 90 is cold.. yes I know, Im a freak.... :rotfl2:
So I wear thermal tees most of the year.. I take fingerless gloves with me, and a hat..

and then I always have a jacket of some kind with me... layering is the way to go as stated above.. have fun and stay warm...:thumbsup2

oh no you're not! I am the same way...although I dont feel cold in 90º weather :lmao:...but under 80º in so cal uh yeah i do get cold...in Oct. I always can wear short sleeves and capris along with a jacket in the am...i can take my jacket off towards noon but when the sun starts to go down around 4:30 or 5...the coat goes right back on and usually this time its a sweatshirt or heavier jacket and i always ALWAYS change into pants, socks and shoes that cover my feet and sometimes i have to wear mittens because in the night im freezing...so i feel your pain:rotfl:

I'm w/ you chilly girls! I live in AZ and when we went over both October and march break I was freezing! I found a fleece under a jacket at night, with a hat, and socks + shoes were a must. Gloves would have been quite welcome!! Don't forget your rain ponchos too, just in case. One day we were so cold we went back to the cat and put on as much clothing as we could. It was hysterical and sad all at the same time!!

Being from Canada, I also thought I'd be alright in October, but I always packed two light sweatshirts anyway because my mom is always cold.

I have to say that I was freezing on the buses at night-we used to go to Downtown Disney every night and I was freezing! Thank goodness for light sweaters from Aritzia!

I just wanted to add....while it is a royal pain, I would plan for both types of weather. I'm in Northern California and tend to run cold as well. We were at DL in October 2 years ago and it was downright HOT to the point we had to change outfits for the evening because we had sweated through the daytime outfit! (Yuck!) We did pull sweatshirts on in the evening, but not every time.
California tends to be like that, even though it is October and 'Fall' it can still get pretty darn hot!

what the heck??? what part of Oct. did you go during??? the beginning??? I am there every year in Oct. and have never EVER been hot ...although i do typically go mid to end of Oct.

really... cold??? Now I'm really confused about what I need to start planning for packing. We'll be there 9/29 - 10/5. So I guess we have to pack hot and cold stuff. But how cold do I pack for. Is it like the cold nights in June? as cold as Thanksgiving time? Here I was thinking we didn't need to bring any long pants at all and just a light jacket. hummmm....

Yikes! This thread is making feel sweaty :lmao:

I live in SoCal (100m northof DLR) and historically I have always felt October can get very warm.

But anyway, I hope you guys stay comfortable. Have you though of a lightweight windbreaker material type jacket? Small, great for layers. Merle's the night air out without the heaviness.

Late Sept to early Oct eh.... Not sure what the weather will be like, but I can tell you that "Red" is the "in" color! :thumbsup2

We will be there during this timeframe as well.

Plan for warm days & cold nights. ;)

DH always wears shorts & short sleeve tshirts but he runs hot. For me & DS, we do jeans, shirts during the day & a sweatshirt for when the sun goes down. DS usually uses DH's sweatshirt as a blanket since DH is hot even in 60 degree weather! We are from Seattle area though- so cold doesn't bother us!

Don't forget it can get very cold sitting along the ROA watching F!

Definitely bring long pants. Yes...You'll want them! And I would suggest a sweatshirt to go with the light jacket. Although for my family- we just do the sweatshirt. A blanket for small kids in strollers is nice too! DS loved cuddling up in his blanket while watching F!

The weather at DLR in the fall can be deceptive. The days can be warm and sunny, but the nights cool down very quickly (thank you, sea breeze!). Layers are your best bet, and I have found that the better quality layers really work best (at least, for me -- and I get cold when it is 70*F). A wool hat (like a beret) works well and can fit easily in a bag or jacket pocket. Smart Wool tights or socks (not itchy and really good at stabilizing temperature -- cool when it's hot, warm when it's cold). Silk thermals (light to wear, amazing warmth from such thin layers, hand wash in the hotel sink and dry overnight). Always have gloves in my pocket. And a light, but workhorse, jacket -- Gortex is my favorite. Keeps me warm, but doesn't make me sweaty. And many Gortex jackets pack up in their own pocket, so they are easy to carry around. The Gortex also works as protective wear on water rides and for WOC splash zone!

Thanks to all of your wonderful and helpful replies!
Will definitely buy some thermal undershirts, etc.
Last year, brought only 2 pairs of jeans.. Ended up rotating the two through the entire trip! Never used the shorts.. So this year I'll be better prepared clothing-wise. Thanks!!:thumbsup2

Sik thermals! Thank you! Will order tonight! Great idea.
