For those of you who cloth diaper, do you while at WDW?
We have 2 children that are cloth diapered exclusively, although our DD will either be fully potty trained by our next trip or we will put her in Pull-ups.
I would like to be able to CD while there but think I will be doing nothing but laundry if I do.
For those of you who have CD at WDW, any recommendations?

No advice for you, but I'd love to see your responses.

I CD my DS, and we have planned a trip in November. He will be 11 months old, and I'm considering cloth diapering on the trip. We have rented a villa at Kidani, so we will have a washer and dryer.

Right now we use prefolds and covers, but I also have six BG 3.0 and six BG organics. I'm not sure what we'll be using come November.

Here are my concerns:

Will I have room in our luggage for cloth diapers? With per bag airline fees, this could cost us an extra $50 each way if we don't. Not worth it.

We will have to pack laundry detergent, since the stuff provided at the villas may not be CD safe.

The last night of our vacation, I will have to do CD laundry, because I'm not about to pack dirty diapers in a suitcase. I'm not sure this is how I want to spend our last night at WDW.

A wetbag is just another thing to keep track of/get stolen in the parks. I'm not going to take a wetbag on a ride with me, but I'd be really upset if someone stole my planetwise bag. Who would still a bag of dirty diapers? I'm not sure, but wetbags are expensive.

I'm thinking about giving the Flip system a try. Cotton babies has a code right now for a free package of disposable flip inserts, and I got it to give them a try.

We only use BG 3.0's. If we were staying in a villa w/ a washer & dryer I for sure would CD while there. Throw the diapers in when getting the kids ready for bed and then throw them in the dryer when you got to bed. Morning time, new and fresh diapers.
But we unfortunately are not staying w/ a washer and dryer, split stay between POP & AKV studio. SO I would have to go to the laundry room and just not sure I will have the energy after long days.
But I did forget to mention in my OP that we will be there for a total of 12 nights and I do plan on doing a load of clothes once ro twice through our stay.

I've always switched to disposable when travelling so I'm curious to see the responses. Our next trip will be with a newborn and I'm always hesitant to use disposible when they are that young since all of my children have seemed to have skin sensitivity issues.

How many BG 3.0 do you have? If I had to wash every other day, I don't think I would do it. But, if you could go every 3 days it might not be such a drain.

I've washed clothes before at the resorts, and its not too bad since the laundry rooms are usually near the pools (not sure about AKV, haven't stayed there yet). Do you have a DH or another adult going with you? You could use this as your personal down time at night after your kids are in bed or during an afternoon nap. Leave the other adult with the sleeping kids, put your diapers in, grab a drink, and hang out at the pool/hot tub. This always works well for me since the washers and dryers at WDW have timers on them.

I'm a diehard CD'er but I get the Seventh Generation unbleached diapers when we travel. Less scary chemicals and neither DS nor DD has had any reactions to them. And that means you'll have room for souvenirs in your luggage on the way back! :goodvibes

Cloth diaperer here, but not when on vacation. I don't want to have to bring along diapers or worry about washing them. Kudos to you if you do, though :thumbsup2

Thanks for the idea. My buying club carries them but I've never used them. I think I'll be ordering some and giving them a try.

I highly doubt that we will end up CDing while at WDW but I was interested to see if anyone does do it.
The thought of having to use my downtime to wash diapers is not my idea of vacation. Looks likes disposables it will be.
Has anyone had any problems w/ their children hating the disposables when you use them for vacation?

I CD'd(Fuzzi Bunz) but hardly ever on vacation(except nighttime). My kids had no problem wearing disposables.

I did use CD's as their overnight diapers though.

Have you tried the GroBaby diapers? While they have a cloth inner, they also have a disposable inner (biodegradable), so that could work while you are traveling. I have heard many who have had success with that. Here is a link

Another option, that I have used is just prefolds and PUL covers. Prefolds (and flats) are easy to wash and dry and PUL covers are super fast drying. Those work very well when on vacation.

I would suggest investing in some disposable liners (like the Imse Vimse ones) to make your wash routine easier.

If you are driving and can bring your stash and detergent, then I would continue. If you are flying, all that stuff adds so much weight, it might be easier to do sposies. I would do a couple test runs at home to make sure you don't have leaks or rash issues. Don't want to deal with a baby uncomfortable with a rash in the hot Florida sun. Yuck!

Good luck!

I've tried to CD on vacation, but it just didn't happen for us. LOL. We brought back some wet diapers, it wasn't pretty. Plus, I wouldn't trust doing my diapers somewhere where there might be fabric softener...I made that mistake with a drier once and my diapers repelled for weeks! Plus, I'm not paying to bring diapers with me with these crazy new airline fees.

The flip inserts are still narrow, I think. They're coming out with wider ones. If you don't have a heavy wetter the narrow ones should be fine and you can find really good deals online if you google is. DD pees more than anyone I've ever seen and she leaked with them.

DS hated disposibles. He would scream and cry if we tried to put one on him and beg for his "nice soft diapers".

This was our solution for him, and what we do with DD on vacation as well:

Buy 7th generation diapers, a size smaller than needed (cheaper!). Use a size smaller cover than usual...or a one size cover snapped on a smaller setting. You can use your bumgenius pockets like a cover. Just open the diaper and lay them in the cover like a prefold (or flip insert, or whatever you're familiar with), you can open the back if you want to, you don't need to. Fasten cover as usual.

For DD who has sensitive skin, (and for DS when he still complained) we lay a fleece liner (you can make your own. Go buy the cheapest fleece you can find and cut it into rectangles!) on top of the disposible, because her skin is wetter in disposibles than in prefolds with a fleece liner. Fleece washes and dries in about an hour in the hotel room, so you only need enough for one or two days, or you can bring enough for the whole trip if you want. I just carry a wetbag for covers and fleece, but that's nothing compared to CDs. Absorbancy of a disposible, feel of cloth for baby, not too bad on the chemicals with 7th gen.

The only downside: We're going to end up taking a lot of vacations during DD's first 3 years, and I think we'll end up spending as much money on sposies as we have on our actual diaper stash, which is completely rediculous.

We use cloth diapers on vacations where we drive, but I'll be buying some 7th generations for our WDW trip. It's going to be difficult enough traveling with 4 kids and getting all their stuff into the suitcases and dragging everything through the airport without having to add detergent and a huge pile of cloth dipes!

We cloth diaper too but will be using Huggies on our trip. I have cd'd while on vacay but those were only weekend trips and we are going for a week so the cd's will stay at home.

Just had an idea - maybe there is a diaper service in Orlando that would deliver and pick up from your hotel?

I CD'd when we went on vacation with my youngest when she was 11 days old. My oldest was 15 months and not potty trained. By the third day I was done doing laundry and we went out and got some type of "organic" disposable. If you are questioning it now about the laundry, I would say you will be tired of it there. Plus you would need to bring your detergent too and that would be a pain.

When we travel for 2-3 days we use cloth but any longer than that we use 7th generation disposables. That is likely what we will use in Disney. I have been thinking about trying the new Flip diapers with the disposable inserts.

WE did it. Totally easy. Totally do-able. SERIOUSLY.

We did Fuzzibunz, (love those) and they were seriously easy. Just throw them in a trash bag and when you need to throw them in the washer. How much easier could it be?

In the park, we would change her, and of course, it was no different than Target or wherever. You stick the dirty diaper in a big ziploc bag and back into the diaper bag it goes - no smell. When you get back to the hotel, you throw it out of the ziploc into the same trash bag with the others. EASY PEESY.

Seriously - dont think twice. Its totally simple to do.

Not trying to start a debate about diapering, but I'm curious about what you do to sanitize the washers after using them to get them ready for the next guest?
