Closing Time!

Anyone still waiting on contracts to show up for closings 5/20? Seems to be taking ages!
Same here. Closed on 5/20, deed recorded on 5/21, still no contract showing. Two weeks plus seems to have become the going rate lately, and it sounds like people have had to give a nudge to MA even to get contracts to show up at the 14-15 day mark (and even that has only worked in some cases).

I received a response back from MA today saying they couldn't add my resale contract due to a "an open contract on the Membership." So basically I shot myself in the foot by buying some more points from DVC direct yesterday. So that's an own goal on my part. 😖

On a brighter note, that would lead me to believe that closings on 20 May are getting close to being added.

Also, on a totally different topic, how do y'all get your resorts to show up in your posts? Is it in the Signature setting?

Still waiting for a member services email. Hoping it comes soon because I am trying to get a last minute August trip in with some approved PTO and I’d like some availability still so I can cancel my All Stars stay…

At least I’m not the only one crazy enough going through closing now with a goal of booking in August. I have a Boardwalk stay booked. I honestly can’t justify going on cash now that I’m under 2 resale contracts, but I haven’t had the guts to cancel it yet.

I realized I had PTO approved and decided I was going to do a ridiculous thing: take one kid on a trip this summer and take the second kid on a trip this winter as a one on one thing. Overall should save money because we can do studios with just two people and I know my August trip kid is less picky, so will be completely happy wherever we stay! But I’d really love to go to AKV as I haven’t been there and I think we would love it.

My son has been asking to stay at AKV especially after watching the series on Disney+ about the animals.

Based on other entries, this seems to be taking an inordinate amount of time, mostly due to 20 days for ROFR and 22 days for the seller to do their thing. I don't have plans to go until next year, so I'm not under pressure to get everything in place, I just WANT IT!

Edit: for some reason, DIS boards would not let me enter the broker's URL and is hiding the actual name. Curious.

Holy cow, I thought mine at 62 days was excessive.

I did hear back from member services today on my 5/20 deed/closing. They said I am in queue to get processed this week. It also says to allow an additional 7-10 for the points to show after that.

I really feel like these contracts should have time limits for buyers and sellers to do their parts, not just a closing date far off that they say they can amend.

I totally agree. There is absolutely no reason for a seller to take 6 weeks to return closing docs unless that timeline has been agreed to ahead of time.

Laws govern this and I don’t know the answer for sure, and could be wrong but I think legally, the closing date is what determines the timeline and that date is what allows a buyer to walk away.

I have not found anything to suggest a seller can be forced into time limits for any part of the process, other than that date. Maybe someone else has found different info??

I will say as a seller, I never agreed to a closing date of less than at least 60 days from when the contract was agreed to. Too many things could happen to delay the sale.
