I never posted my entire timeline but just wanted share my experience with a different title company this time.

Last contract we used FirstAm and they are definitely slower. This time for our 2nd contract, my agent actually asked if we have a preference so I went with Mason and so glad I chose them! In my experience, they are more responsive and faster. Our offer was accepted on 7/3, and my contract membership showed up on my dashboard on 8/24 or 8/25. I did a chat with MS on 8/27 and got my points loaded immediately.

From start to finish, just about 54 days total, not bad at all! Compared to our 1st contract it was over 3 months! Way better experience this time!
When you chatted with the member - did you just ask due to planning an upcoming term?! Our contract is now on our Dashboard and looking for the points! ;)

Yes I told them I really wanted to book our vacation asap for the current year. But honestly, they don't care too much. You can simply tell them you see your membership on the dashboard and wondering if they can load the points for you.
 

Wow. Our closing took much longer. 2 months from offer accepted to points in account. Maybe I used the wrong broker!
Mine is taking about 2 months but it is on the Disney side now for me. I love all the data on the board but when you see other people closing faster, ROFRing faster and getting points faster it starts to drive you crazy. I think the mouse loves to keep us all guessing.

I think it's something much less devious or calculating.

If you've ever seen the DVC headquarters in Celebration, it's not a huge building, and Disney doesn't even occupy the whole space. I'd guess they maybe have 50 or 60 staff there, on a good day. Yes, there are a ton of guides and associates out in the "field", but at the admin level, I don't think they have an army of CM's dedicated to dealing with each of the various elements of administration. You'll hear a MS CM say something like "I'll have my team look at this", or "the XXXX team is working on that", but it's not like they have dozens of CM's dedicated to each and every element of membership administration, particularly those that aren't time sensitive or revenue generating.

Telling you a "team" is on your issue is better than saying "Bob does those on Tuesdays". I'd lay dollars to donuts that many if not most people working for DVC at the MS and MA level are wearing a number of different hats, depending on what stack of paperwork they are dealing with that day. It's also why I kind of chuckle whenever someone on the boards proudly boats that they are going to make sure their issue is "escalated". "Escalated" just means the guy in the next cubicle will deal with it next week.

Agree. Not saying it is devious but it certainly makes the direct purchase seem so much easier.
 
So, I've hit a snag. Got the DVC Welcome Home email today with activation code. Unfortunately, I don't have a Club ID number. After a couple of tries calling, I've been told that I have to wait for my new member packet to come in the mail. Has this been anyone else's experience?

For us, the second email, the one with the member number, came about 3-4 hours after the first.
I’ve also heard of several people having their second email go to junk.
Hopefully it comes soon.

We are new-ish DVC members. We bought direct VGF at the end of July and immediately started the process of buying a resale contract at SSR for SAP. We passed ROFR, closed, and the deed was recorded on 9/8. We are now on day 25 of waiting for the contract to show up and I'm becoming concerned. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? I'm checking the "Membership Information" page under my profile o the DVC site but am still only seeing our VGF contract. Am I supposed to be looking somewhere else? Driving myself crazy over here.

Already off to a slow start. What with Fidelity not responding to emails over the weekend (a curious fact in the real estate world that I still don't get), and First American taking my deposit Friday morning but only notifying the broker this morning, we're already almost a week in, but just going to ROFR.

If it is any help, our was recorded on 9/14 and still nothing. I keep seeing people recorded after us already in their account. Ours is an SSR as well, but I see others being recorded in less time. Hoping it is just in some random stack and not some paperwork screw up. Fingers crossed for both of us.
