Just found out Disney is not taking our resale purchase. Should have paperwork in next few days. Using a standard timeline, is there any possible way we could get a mid-late August reservation this year using DVC? Or is this a pipe dream?

Maybe. A lot will depend on where you want to stay, what size villa and for how long.

If you just passed ROFR, you still need to clear estoppel. It's been more than two weeks since I passed ROFR and I have not gotten my closing paperwork yet. My broker said to expect 20-30 days to complete it.

Once you've cleared estoppel, you need to send in your paperwork and the seller submits their. A reluctant seller could slow things down. However, your contract should have a definite "close by" date and your agent should hold both of you to it, barring any issues on Disney's side of things.

After closing, the deed gets recorded (usually takes a day or two unless there are holidays in between). Once that has occurred, DVC has to process the change of ownership. On my last contract (which was fairly recent) it took just under two weeks for the points to show up in my existing account. My broker had told me that it could take up to 3 weeks.

So, based on my own experience, it could take until mid-July to get your membership and points. At that point, a lot is going to depend on what's left. But since it is not a busy DVC time, you may luck out.

We got access to our points near the end of April and it had banked points which would have expired the beginning of August. We decided to book a May trip and were able to do a split stay in a 1 bedroom (2 nights Saratoga, 4 nights Wilderness Lodge) 3 weeks in advance. Studios were not available anywhere (maybe 1 night here or there).
