I have a business trip coming up in a couple weeks and plan on taking advantage of the EMH at Epcot for the evening so I need to stay on-site that one evening.

I planned on an Epcot resort hotel but price even with an AP rate has me scared $275 BC or $240 Dolphin and up from there..... :scared1:

So I'm looking at my other options since I won't be at the resort long enough to enjoy it. Plan on spending most of my time at Epcot and then heading to the airport early the next mroning.

Which is the closest value and moderate to Epcot???? I can get a value for $90 or a moderate for $140 (all AP rates with tax).

Thanks!

POR is very close to Epcot, only about a 10 minute bus ride away. POFQ is right next door to POR, but the busses pick up there first, so the ride from POR is shorter. So if distance is your main concern, I would pick POR. It is a lovely resort!

Thank you both! I am going to take a look at both of those.

I've also heard that the POP is close to Epcot as well so that is also an option.

Though it would be nice to try a new resort for this 1 night stay :confused3

Pop and CBR are near each other. Pop is actually across from WWS.

If $$ is an issue, I'd go with Pop.

herc.

CSR is a 7 min bus ride. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

I believe that CBR is the closest mod and POP is the closest value. Is the Dolphin rate you got with any discounts? They do have some available for nurses, teachers, and used to be Entertainment book discounts up to 50% off the rack room rate. That used to apply to the Swan and the Dolphin. We stayed at the Swan a few years back on the Entertainment book discount. We have a lovely trip and those beds are the most wonderful thing in the world.

See this thread for more information on discounts at the Swan and Dolphin.

On our last trip, we stayed at CBR for the first time. The day we arrived, we headed in early and were woken up by LOUD bangs. We walked out of our room, turned the corner and were surprised to see Illuminations!! It was awesome! It was like the fireworks were there for us to see. I'd say that's pretty close! :thumbsup2

I'd seriously look at the DTD Hilton. The prices are usually between the rack rate of a value and moderate, you can walk across the street and get a bus from the Marketplace to the BW or BC and walk to Epcot from there. It's a LOT more bang for your buck--the rooms are quieter, have minifridges, coffee makers, robes, really nice bathrooms. Some have fireworks views. I would definitely look at that option, unless you are planning on using DME to the airport. (The Hilton particiaptes in EMH!)

All available at CSR except the robes. I always prefer on-site to off anyday.

CBR's property touches Epcot but you still have to drive around to the front of the resort and then to Epcot. With 7 stops within CBR, it's a bit longer than one would think.

One other thing...

The Hilton also has inside corridors, making it a safer choice for a female traveling alone. I would NOT want to stay in a room at one of the mods or values in the back 40 by myself. I would feel VERY uncomfortable going to my room alone at night.

I don't consider the bathrooms at any WDW value or mod as "nice." They are functional.

that is a lot of walking for just one night.

CBR and Pop are closer to Epcot.

POR and POFQ are closer to the entrance of Epcot. if the bus driver is allowed to go that way. sometimes they are not.

Pop has one bus stop. the buses go directly to the parks.

You can see the firework from Epcot at both CBR and POP.

at places in POR and POFQ - but definitely harder to find much less see.

I would generally recommend renting a reservation for BCV or BWV - but on a Friday night - that is not even a good idea.

go with Pop - it is definitely the best price.

POP was close, and I was even able to watch the fireworks at Epcot from our room each night.

No matter which Disney resort you stay at on property, you won't have that long of a ride. But the closest mod is Caribbean Beach and closest value is Pop.

As the crow flies, CBR and Pop are the closest Mod and Value to Epcot, respectively.

However, the Epcot main entrance is on the north side of the park, and CBR and Pop are both due south - so the bus has to drive all the way around Epcot.

MaxiesMom is correct, however, that the ride from POR is quite short and there are no interal stops at POR. CSR is also not a bad choice; it's alittle farther away, but because of the layout of the roads, the bus ride is quite short.

Here is the Local Live map of the Epcot area:
http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v...t=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=3950546&encType=1

Pan around a bit and see how the roads are laid out; you'll see that things you might think are close are not, and those you think are far away, not so much.

I agree and CSR also does not share transportation like POR/POFQ.

This might be too short of notice, but if you are staying during the week, you could get a Epcot-area DVC studio for cheap! You just ask a DVC member to book you either a BWV or BCV studio and at $10/pt, the most it'll be is $120, no tax. There is a DVC rent/trade board for more information.

At least this way you can just walk home. :thumbsup2

I've stayed CBR solo. I was in Trinidad South. I felt completely safe walking around the resort by myself including at night, so OP, don't take her opinion as the only one.
