Closest to Park, aside from Park Vue

If you were not staying at one of the 3 Disneyland hotels, but wanted a hotel as close as possible, but not the Park Vue, where would you stay?

We have stayed at Park Vue and loved it, but I know some prefer others, so I'm wondering where else on either side within a few down, would you stay? (without wanting to walk as far down as HoJo's.... )

Best Western Park Place Inn (right next to Park Vue), Ramada Inn Maingate, Tropicana... I've stayed at them all in the last 3 years. All pretty comparable. Just pick one with the nicest price! Ramada has a more kid-friendly pool.

Do any of those offer dinners like Park Vue does? Breakfast at least? Thanks

As far as free meals, nobody will beat Park Vue Inn. Nobody else (of which I'm aware) offers anything other than breakfast, and those ones that I mentioned offer a "continental breakfast" that is really quite plain. Tropicana had pre-packaged pastries, red apples, oranges, two types of cereal, and bad juice/coffee. Ramada was a bit better because they had a toaster as part of their offerings. Nothing spectacular. Enough to hold you over until your first snack in the parks, but nobody really offers a hot breakfast like Park Vue within that very immediate vicinity. Camelot is a few doors down and is right next to McDonald's. I've stayed there as well.

We like the Candy Cane, nearby, has a direct shuttle, and a decent, but not hot, breakfast.

The rest of the ones on the strip usually have a breakfast (none hot) but nothing for the evening.

Residence Inn Maingate on Clementine has a hot breakfast, suites, and something in the evenings a couple nights a week. (Mondays are Nacho nights, I think Wed is BBQ night (hot dogs/hamburgers) and every other Friday they do something.) We stay here most of our trips.

We love Candy Cane Inn too. You can see my review with pictures in my sig link. We considered Park Vue and have heard good things about it but decided to go with CCI again since we know we like it. They also give you a return customer discount coupon of $10 a night if you go again within a year.

I still prefer Park Vue Inn. I have also stayed at Ramada Maingate, and I liked it only because it was cheaper and they had boiled eggs at the continental breakfast. XD I believe my sister stayed at the Best Western and liked it. The only one I would avoid is Del Sol Inn. Room was dirty, walls were thin, and our shower was freezing cold, and halfway through that teeth-chattering experience I vowed never to return.

DBF and I stayed at the Carousel Inn and Suites over our last trip and we found it fantastic for the money :thumbsup2. I managed to get it when it was at $70 per night so I jumped at the chance. It's not quite as close as Park Vue or the Best Western Park Place, but it's only a few yards farther away. The beds were very comfortable, there was plenty of space, free valet parking (but you have to spend $8 per day to park anyways :sad2:), free continental breakfast, refrigerator and friendly staff. We really enjoyed it so I wouldn't count that out!! :goodvibes
