I have a res. for the All star Sports from Jan 1-4...I am desprately trying to book Dec 31 at Sports but there is nothing available at any value for that night...I am calling Disney twice a day to see if anyone cancels. If I cannot get a room there on the 31st, I would like to get a hotel offsite as close to disney as I can get...any recommendations would be appreciated.

A motel that you may want to consider is the Howard Johnson Maingate East. My wife and I stay there exclusively when we don't stay on site. It is an older motel (probably built in the 1970's), but it is very clean and only about a three minute drive from the Disney gates on World Dr. The motel is located at 6051 W. Irlo Bronson Hwy (Hwy 192), just east of the Wide World of Sports Complex. The rooms are very inexpensive ($31.00/night for a King Bed room the last time we stayed there on 10/10-10/13/2008)and the motel is clean. They have a gift shop onsite, as well as an Orlando Attractions Ticket Outlet in the lobby. It has a lot of rooms, and we have never had ANY problems of ANY kind with booking, or while staying in the motel.

Thanks so much...I booked there just in case I couldnt get on-site. The rooms were 62.99, which is not so bad. I have until the day before to cancel if an onsite opens up.
thanks again, I appreciate it.

WOW....$62/night!! That is kinda high for that motel. If you don't mind my asking, what booking service did you use?

I just checked the booking service that I use (www.kayak.com) and they have the room at $60/night!! I guess with it being for New Years Eve, the prices are jacked up!! Any other time we have ever stayed there we have paid $31.00

Hope you enjoy your trip. We will be there 12/17-12/23 at AS-Movies and absolutely can't wait!!!!

I went straight on their website...and thats with the AAA discount. Im going to look around a little more...and try to get a better rate before I cancel this one. And yeah, Im thinking New Years Eve might be the reason its so much.
