We often stay offsite when going to Disney and I am pricing out condos for our Universal trip in January. I don't want to be spending 20-30m driving to/from, but all of the condos I am looking at on VRBO and Someway advertise how close they are to Disney!

What are some nice communities near Universal? I am trying to decide on a Family Suite at CBBR or an off site condo with a 1 night 'stay' at Royal Pacific for the EP benefits.

You could check out Floridays Resort and Point Orlando Resort both offer condo style rooms. Point Orlando is over by the old Wet and Wild.

I believe these are condo-style properties closed to Universal Orlando:
Note: The Point Orlando is different from The Pointe Orlando. The one with the "e" is a shopping area.

I've not stayed at any of these properties, so be sure to check online reviews. Also, keep in mind that traffic in the attractions corridor can be unpredictable. Although these properties are within 2 miles of Universal Orlando, International Drive and Universal Blvd can get very busy. Sometimes it can be quicker to use Kirkman Rd to Major Blvd. (Kirkman Rd is the north/south road to the right of Universal on the above map.)

We stayed at Vista Cay one year, and it was very close. Google maps is saying 9 to 13 minutes, and that sounds about right. I think SeaWorld was about 6 minutes away, and Univesal 10. We found it very easy to navigate between the resort and the parks. It is so close to SW and Uni that some of the higher floor condos along the lake offer firework views. There are a number of listings on VRBO.
