I am thinking of going to the beach for the day. Can any body suggest a beach. I would be interested in the closest beach from WDW. thanks,,,Corvair

Oh, and about how far and long would they take?

I'm not sure if your intending to stay over night or just a day trip. There are several miles on Daytona Beach they let you still drive on. There is a ton of stuff to do. It's a couple bucks to park your car then you can grab a four wheeled buggy and cruise the beach and grab snacks at one of the many vendors there on the beach. They sell kites which is a fun activity. You and caught some rays, parasail deep sea fish or take a gambling cruise in the evening. A ton to do. If you are staying over night let me suggest the Hilton in the Daytona beach Shores area or Treasure Island Inn. Both are very nice and the food is good. Oh did i mention Adventure Landing just to the north side of the beach off of Atlantic Blvd north. and across the street beach side is a hugh Boarwalk to ride go karts and arcade games and many vendors there. Have fun. I love Daytona we go every year. It's a clean and beatiful place. Oh and you must stop by Steve's Diner on Atlantic Blvd. South it does'nt look like much but man you get a ton of wonderful food made to order and a bargain price, the muffins there are BIG and the bread is baked fresh by the hour! they sell a ton of bread!

Hi Corvair,

I reckon the nearest beach (in driving time) to WDW is Clearwater Beach, across Tampa Bay.

Our villa at Hampton Lakes is right in the middle of Florida between the two coasts. But we prefer the Gulf - its warmer!!

Just get on I4 and head south for Tampa, change to US 275, then SR 60 past Tampa Airport and just keep on going.

90 minutes will get you there on that beautiful white sand. I only wish I didn't have to wait until the end of June to be there myself!!!!!

Closest beach is Cocoa Beach, a little more than 60 miles East of WDW. Indialantic Beach is slightly further but takes a good bit longer to drive since there is no limited access highway that direction. Daytona Beach is about 75 miles.

Clearwater Beach is about 90 miles West.

I would recommend Sand Key (just south of Clearwater Beach) for a nice day at the beach.

mm42,,I think we decided we are going to the beach. Since Cocoa is the closest we decided to go there and we will be just doing a day trip from WDW. Is it an easy drive from WDW? Could you give me any other tips or advise for going to Cocoa Beach??? thanks,,corvair and how would you get there??

To get to Cocoa Beach from WDW is very easy - just go north on I-4 to the Bee Line Expressway (SR 528) and then East until you see the ocean. It's a very easy drive and limited access highway almost all the way. There are lots of public beaches to choose from once you get to Cocoa Beach.

... and don't forget to visit Ron Jon's surf shack, if only to say you've been there:D
