Closest Airport?

Which airport? We are waiting for our our packet from DVC to sign our papers on HHI. We are very exccited and would like to take a trip this fall. Because we just got back from OKW a week ago, airfare is an issue. I've found a great deal on rt airfare from KC to Tampa for 102.00, how close is tampa airport to Vero Beach. Sorry if I sound dumb, I just can't figure if it's to far to drive once we get there.

Which airports are closest to HHI? We'd like to save going there for this summer and book at our 11month window, but I'd like to know so when we decide to book I can check all airports.

Tampa to VB is probably about a 3-4 hour drive. You'll need to drive thru Orlando to get there.

HH has a small airport on the island. The closest major airport is in Savannah, GA- about a 45 minute drive to HH.

Tampa is on the West Coast....Vero is on the East Coast. It wouldn't be impossible but it's not the best choice. West Palm Beach, Orlando, Melbourne are all good airport choices for Vero.

Per my computer mapping software, the 1-way distance from the Tampa A/P to Disney's VB is 183 miles (using the fastest route) and projects 3hrs, 25 minutes. (There are shorter routes, but all on 2-lane roads, and have longer travel times).

You'll also have about $5 in tolls. Depending on when you get there, you can also have a lot of traffic on I-4 coming out of Tampa, and Orlando traffic can be bad at times.

For comparison, from the Orlando A/P to VB is 94 miles (1:52 projected travel time) Still some tolls, I forget about how much

Melbourne is 39 miles (1:05 travel time)


West Palm Beach is 93 miles (2:09 travel time)

Usually you can get good airfares to Orlando so you might want to try that. If Tampa is still your best bet. On the plus side here, you go right past the entrance to WDW. You could stop off there if you want and check out the Boardwalk, DD, or other attractions.
