that is SO bad!!! so, I wonder where in Africa you can smoke? they keep making DSAs go "poof" and people won't even TRY to obey the rules.
yes, I was irritated when the Dawa bar one got moved back into the dark, boring area. I liked hanging over the wall, looking at the water (looking for gators!). but, oh well. they moved us further out of the way. I can understand that.
maybe they have us climbing over the wall, following a thorny path, and sitting on a rock?:rotfl:
really, the new one way in the back wouldn't have bothered ANYONE, why "poof" it?:headache:

There is nowhere in Africa to smoke. When we were there last Sept, DH, DS, and I went to the back of beyond one that was behind the Dawa Bar only to find that it was gone entirely. We stopped 2 CMs coming out from "backstage" and asked them about it. They said that guests in the Tusker House were complaining about smelling smoke while they were eating, so WDW removed this smoking area.
Soooo, I asked her where we were supposed to smoke now and she pointed me to Camp MM (where we also encountered the "it's not open yet" thing). I was then told that we could go to the one over by EE. WHAT?
I am thinking that a good place for a DSA in Africa would be in the little out of the way spot by the bathrooms. That's where I keep seeing people smoking, anyway.
I haven't smoked there, but I have seriously considered it. Oh, how I wish it was easier to follow the rules...

Just got back from a short trip. We stayed one night at Pop Century and then at All Star Sports. 2 years ago after our stay at Sports, I wrote to guest relations (I think it was guest relations). I asked if they would consider putting a couple of umbrellas up by the smoking area for drizzly, wet days. At Pop Century - no umbrella - at All Star Sports - 2 umbrellas. Since there were several days of off and on rain, I really appreciated it!

I am writing a note of appreciation now!

I'm planning on going to Caribbean Beach in May, and if I base my room off of the resort maps with DSA's, it looks like there's a DSA for every building, which would be fantastic!!

However..... We know how WDW tends to change the DSA's all the time, sooooo is there anyone out there that has stayed at the Caribbean Beach recently that can let me know if there are still quite a few DSA's on property?

So how is CSR for the dsa's ? I am thinking CSR or CBR for our resort but which is better for dsa's? :confused3
Thanks!

Only a couple of smoking area to the entire resort. This is the design and implies a certain protection of animals feeding abandoned cigarette smoke inhalation, etc.

Are you speaking of AKL? I was there in August and couldn't find the old smoking area out the door before the pool.

That one was removed. There are only two now. One on the way to the bus stops and the other to the right of the pool as your entering the area just before the jacuzzis.

Yes, you may smoke anything legal there, and FYI there are no specific DSA's at Downtown Disney, you are free to smoke ( politely ) at any outside location. I enjoyed a cup of Cuban coffee at there outside cafe, with my smoke.

The most friendly smoking resort is GF, which offers smoking outside each building AND a beautiful veranda ( covered ) upstairs and downstairs at the resort.

I was there in December, and noticed too that the DSA's at Epcot had been moved. It was frustrating, as I had just been there in October, and found very few of the old spots left. It's hard when you absolutely need one, and don't want to break the ever changing rules.

The worst resort for smokers is WL. Stayed there in December and never will again.

We stay at the GF and I agree that they have good smoking areas, but I like the ones at Yacht Club as well. They have alot of covered smoking areas with rocking chairs which look out over the pool.

Does anyone know if you can buy cigarettes at Orlando Int'l Airport and how much they cost. If they are cheaper/same as here in CT I might just buy them when we arrive. TIA

They do sell them at the airport but they are a little more pricey. At the gas station on disney property I paid 5 and change for a pack. I live in CT also so I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!

You know what I do when I'm getting jittery from not smoking? I always take a fresh pack of Nicoret gum with me on vacation. It helps in the airport and on the plane, and I always have some in my purse. It isn't nearly as satisfying as having a cigarette, but at least it gets me through.
We always stay at The Poly, and I'm disappointed that they've done away with the DSA by the Volcano pool. That was my favorite. While my DH and DS are in the pool, I take my smokes and a drink and have so much fun just watching them have fun!
I remember having a cigarette in AK after breakfast at Tusker House. I thought it was a DSA. If it changed, I'm afraid I did the wrong thing.

That post you responded to is a spammer (see the link in the signature). I reported it.

checking in to POFQ on Sunday (:banana:)

Anyone know if the DSA that is a little dock out at the back of Bldg. 5 is still there?

It was so nice last time! Granted this resort seemed pretty smoker friendly to me.

Thank you!!

Anyone know of the DSA's at ASMusic? We are staying at the suites in Dec and I don't see any on the resort map. Thanks!

we stayed at FQ in April, and it was there. we went over to POR for 5 nights right after. when we came back to FQ, the DSA was still there.. but for some strange reason, the benches were gone!?:confused3
maybe this is just a refurbishment issue? cause the benches at the 50's DSA at pop disappeared for a while, then came back.

we stayed at Music 3 nights in July 2009; there was a DSA just outside the Calypso pool, . one near the piano pool (nearest the jazz section. one on the end of the Country section (kinda neat , a couple picnic tables.). that is all the map showed.

but, both this time AND the LAST time, a DSA that was not on the maps : there is a little fenced in park area in the Broadway section, and there is a DSA there. (I did not see any in the Rock area)

I don't know if this is the place to post this, but hubby Nebo and I are now 2 weeks and 2 days without smoking.! so maybe you wont' see me here on this board.

but I promise to be very caring and understanding for you guys who choose to smoke!!! wish us luck!

Congrats on the quitting! My DH quit after our last trip to WDW. I am going to attempt after this trip. Signed up to do the DLR 1/2 Marathon in September, and somehow smoking and running dont mix :lmao:

Ok smoking peeps. :) I'm still up in the air over where to spend the last three days of my solo trip in April. I'm looking for the most smoking friendly resort out of these:

POFQ - stayed here as a smoker
POR - stayed here as a non smoker
CBR - never stayed here

Help please! I'm really torn over this, and want to book sometime before I have to leave! :flower3:
