Oh...my gosh!

I know bldgs 18 & 38 were former smoking bldgs. However, as I just said previously, we were in a former smoking room and there was absolutely, positively no scent of smoke whatsoever!!!Does anyone remember which building in POR had smoking? Want to make sure we are NOT put in that building!!
Thanks!!
Remember, nobody was required to smoke even in smoking rooms. It's entirely possible that a given smoking-optional room had not been smoked in, in long enough for the smell to disappear, or that the room had been cleaned well enough that any odor is long gone...
Okay, the trash cans are probably still there because as you noticed, people WILL still smoke wherever they please (until Disney starts emphasizing/enforcing the smoking rules) and at least this way, people - ideally - aren't using the ground as an ashtray. Why do they have those trash cans still there?
We did the dining plan this yr so we went to several other resorts for meals and were very surprised (almost annoyed but not really so) to see the difference in smoking areas at diff resorts. Seemed some of the nicer resorts had bunches of them.![]()

As for the number of smoking areas at each resort? Don't feel badly - Contemporary only has three; I think so does Wilderness Lodge; Animal Kingdom only has three or four. If you go back through this thread, I think I posted the counts at each resort, based on the great maps Canadian Guy and Trekker linked.
Hi all. Is there a no smoking policy in Florida like there is in California or is this WDW policy?
Thanks
Florida has a no smoking law very simular to California's. It only went into eefect a couple of years ago...I think California's was 1996, if I remember correctly
Other DSA locations were on 2nd and 3rd floors of some buildings, though I think it was the buildings without much land around them.

Not off the top of my head, but they were the ones closest to the luau grounds, I think.Do you know the names of the buildings that have these? It might be nicer for DH than hiking outside . . . Thanks so much!!!!
When I booked our upcoming September trip in May I did not know that resorts would be non-smoking in June. I didn't book a preferred view room 'cause I didn't want to spend the extra $, I did, however, request a smoking room. I checked WDW site weekly and my reservations did not note a preferred room, but now they do. I'm wondering if this is so I can be closer to the DSAs as there seem to be several around the preferred building?
