I think some of the resorts are slower to put them out if they have a surplus of the older style. The Values seem to cycle through them quicker than the DVC resorts. I would imagine in 2 weeks they will be out though.

So anyone think it is possible to get the old ones at your resort when on a dinning plan and be able to not have the tag taken off so you can swap at one of the resorts that has the new ones?

why don't you just go to the resort that has them and buy them there? why buy one at your resort and exchange it?

ahhhh - i thought there was a credit put on the card that you could use anywhere.

well then - that's a good question and since the new ones are out at other resorts and we know this via pictures then they should know the answer at check in. i'd bring photos of the new mugs to "prove" the existance of new mugs since it's been posted that not all cm's know about them

Well you may be right on the credit thing. This is our first time on a DP that includes the mug. Have always purchased it on our own.

I'm pretty sure you use your KTTW to purchase the mug when you get it on the dining plan. It shows as a credit so you should be able to use it at any resort.

If that is true we will just head over to POP. Never seen it but heard the food court is quiet good.

We didn't get the ones last year since we stayed in a THV and it's too far of a walk to get refills. We have the ones from the previous year which have the same picture but are narrower and white half way up. I'm looking forward to the prettier ones.

Did I say we'll be there in 10 days? LOL

Do the Resort Mugs work well with hot drinks? If so, how long do drinks stay hot?

I use mine from 2010 at work for coffee. I have to have a lid on my drinks because I have a habit of frying computers!

I know that it doesn't keep things hit as long as my Sea World travel mug, but I would say my coffee stays hot for at least 30 minutes. Drinkable for an hour (I am okay with warm coffee). Around 10:00, it is cold, so 1.5-2 hours?

I have a harder time keeping ice in it! It seems to melt rather quickly!

At AKL-Kidani right now and the new mugs were put out today. I got the old ones on Saturday, but today went down and the new ones are there. They are really cute and colorful.

As of today, the Beach Club still has the old mugs out both in the quick service/gift shop area and in Beaches & Cream.

so, will they let you trade in the old ones for the new ones?

Hoping for the new ones are out at SSR next week. Oh, well , just being at Disney is enough! :cheer2:

But when I bought my mug they told me it was good forever? Was I lied to?

Maybe. Depends on when you bought your mug. General rule of thumb is that if you bought before 2000 or 1999 these may well be the ‘forever’ mugs. Otherwise, yeah, you were lied to. Look on the side of your mug for printing if you’re unsure.

Darg-nab-it, I was told I could bring them back and I’m gonna bring them back.. I didn’t see any sign when I bought mine that said I couldn’t! I spent thousands of dollars on this trip to Disney, do they really care if I bring the mug back a few times?

Ultimately.. it IS your vacation and you are free to do as you wish.

The policies as Disney has outlined them are above. You may be approached by a cast member if your mug is obviously very old or outdated. Or, in all likelihood, you might not be. Disney has definitely taken a very lazy approach to managing the policies relating to the mugs.

Whatever your refillable mug ‘world view’ , there’s no need to try and change people’s minds about this topic on this thread. That type of effort has proven over and over again to be a lot like trying to teach pigs to tango, nobody learns anything and everyone ends up covered in mud.

I don't wanna break the rules. But I don't want to shell out 60$ for new mugs for my family of 5? Can I re-use the mugs? PLEEEEASE?

Let your conscience be your guide. The rules are clear. You may do whatever you wish.

Is it still supposedly against the rules to re-use mugs? I only ask b/c we just got back from our first trip (last night :sad1:) and I knew that I had read that you couldn't re-use on future trips. However, our Magical Express bus driver on the way to the airport was very chatty and one of the things he said was "Hey, if you bought one of those refillable mugs, did you know that you can bring them back on future trips? Just pack the mugs away with your suitcase so when you're ready to come back, you'll know where your mug is." He's worked for WDW for over 20 years in all different positions - resorts, parks, photopass, etc. (he's only been a DME driver for a month) so it's not like he's new or anything. I was just wondering if they changed the rules?

There's no change to Disney's policy on refillable mugs. The first post on this sticky thread explains it all. :)
