Due to building a new house, we can not use these points.

These have a Feb use year, and I can borrow or bank these points to use anywhere up to Feb '11.

Great to get that jump on the 11 month window at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort.

I have rented points to and from others in the past so have a bit of experience. I use a standard contract that I found here on the DISboards and have never had a problem.

For a transfer I would like more than 100 points since I can only do one transfer but that is negotiable.

Paypal would require an additional fee, but all my transactions in the past have been done via check. I live in Australia, but I have a bank account in NYC so there is no problem with the exchange rates. (If you live in Australia, even better!)

Sad to let these points go, but right now the new house comes first.

Enjoy the NEW Bay Lake Tower!

These points are at the NEW Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort.

Availability here is very difficult to get within the 7 month window (especially with a Magic Kingdom View) but because these are BLT points I can book at the 11 month window, thus having a better chance at that great view of the castle.

Wish I could use these points myself (had to cancel my January Magic Kingdom View 1 Bedroom) since we are in the process of building a new house here in Sydney. Let this be the chance for you to experience this new resort.

These points can be used at any resort in the next 7 months, but their real advantage is booking from 7 months to 11 months at BLT.

We are interested in staying at BLT next April 5th for 4 nights. Is there availability? I think it would be more points than that, but did you say you would borrow to cover it?

csjs1018 Looking for a 1-BR with any view 11/23/09 - 11/27/09.

- There is no availability anywhere for Thanksgiving night.

- Right now there is availability in all catagories at BLT for those dates, but that will not last. Let me know what type of room you are looking for and I can figure out if I can borrow enough points. The MKV Grand Villa is also available, but that would be over 600 points!

What about the other nights?

Will check first think in the morning when Member Services opens. At BLT I think there was only 1 of the nights available. Would you consider other resorts? I can also possibably get a chash reservation for Nov 26th and waitlist. As a DVC guest, there is a 25% discount on the cash night.

We would consider other resorts. The cash discount could definitely be a possibility. I'd like to know more. Would the cost of points be lower for other resorts since it wouldn't be at the BLT? That seems to be the case on quite a few threads. Also, at other resorts, we would need a 2-BR in most cases because we are a family of five. Let me know when you find out. Thanks!

I would like to keep the points at $12 / point since they CAN be used at BLT from 11 months out. That is the value of these points even though I have rented points at other resorts at the $12 rate as well. When you compare it to the cash rate for any of the resorts, the is still a substantial savings. Those looking for a further bargain, and can deal with the restriction of other points, should consider those. In your case, even at BLT since it is within 7 months, any home resort can book these, it doesn't need to be BLT points. If you can get someone to do it for $9 per point (and there may be someone with expiring points that is willing to do this) that is the way you should go. That is what I did last January. But be careful, once you start staying at DVC you will want to own..... I am a good example of that. LOL

I completely understand what you're saying. Could you please explain to me though what you were talking about when you said you could get a cash reservation for Thanksgiving night? It's the first time I heard that.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

A DVC Member can actually book DVC rooms at the cash price (Disney owns a percentage of DVC rooms which they rent out on a nightly basis through central reservations) As a DVC member I can book these rooms if they are available at a 25% discount. Any DVC member can. I originally thought it was only if the reservation was in my name, but I had that happen (actually for Thanksgiving with another renter) and confirmed that because they are my guest, it would be no problem with them getting the discount. I also at the same time waitlisted for that night, and fortunately the waitlist came through, so the cash night was automatically canceled and was charged in points. Worked out great for the person renting, now it has been consolidated to one long reservation for them (including Thanksgiving.) The studio (at SSR) for Thanksgiving was $234.45 plus taxes. It then went through at 13 points so they saved even more. I don't mind trying this for you, but any DVC member can do this and you can probably get the points for under $12/point.

Hope that helps.
