I know how spread out SSR is and am wondering if anyone has a good suggestion where we might request to get us close to a bus stop?

I would simply request "a room close to a bus stop". There are several throughout the property. The more general your request, the more likely it is to be granted.

There are five bus stops and I don't remember ever being too far away from one. Of course my idea of "far" might be different from someone else's.

I have heard stories about 15 minute jaunts to the bus. I would prefer a bit closer in the July heat.:cool2:

We may try that, not sure if we wanted to be near a pool or a room closer to DTD, but the main worry is the bus!::yes::

I can't think of anywhere at SSR where it ought to take fifteen minutes just to walk to a bus stop. I don't recall it taking any more than 5 and I have stayed in all the sections except Congress Park.

But when you check in, have them look on the map and they may be able to assign a room for you that is nearest a bus stop, if one is available. (They do this for me at OKW a lot)

We stayed in #5721 in the Paddock section. It was a short walk to the bus stop and a quiet pool. We also stayed in a GV in the Congress Park section. Can't remember the room number but it was Building 2101 - 2436. Bus stop was also a short walk. There was a quiet pool right in front of our room overlooking Downtown Disney. (Yes, it was very nice!!)

Keep in the mind that the Springs section is closest to check-in, main pool, and food court. But, it is also the last pick up for buses going to the theme parks. If you have young children and have to stand, it may be a problem. I stayed in the Paddock and walked throughout the resort and don't think that there would have been a 15-minute walk to any bus stop.

Thanks, we are staying in a studio this trip, not taking DS, just DH and I. I wonder if a studio is available in those sections? I'll check it out!:goodvibes

No children this trip, took DS the first of this month, I need a break so DH and I decided to go back for a grown-up trip. Not a single character meal planned! I must admit I'm feeling a little guilty at times, but it quickly goes away.....:rotfl: :rotfl:

We requested and were granted our request to stay in the Congress Park section on our first trip to SSR this past April. I'm not sure of the building number, but our room number was 1541. The location was wonderful for us! We literally were steps away from the bus stop and the quiet pool (and view of DD). At first I was a bit dissapointed to be on the ground level, but it turned out great, as we were able to walk out through the patio to the pool and didn't have to worry about walking around the building. Also the walk to the DD Marketplace is not bad at all. We actually walked there to get a bus to the Polynesian resort one evening for a reservation. The resort is wonderful, you'll have a great time!! ::yes::

Thanks for the info about walking to DTD for the bus we have dinner reservations at the Poly!

Be aware that if you walk to DTD and take the bus to the Polynesian, it will stop at Pleasure Island, at Typhoon Lagoon if it is open, and at the Contemporary before it gets to the Polynesian. Allow plenty of time before your reservation. If you get there early, have drinks at Tambu Lounge.

If time is important, I usually suggest taking the bus to the Magic Kingdom. You can then switch to the resort monorail or the motorboat launch to the Polynesian.
