Such adorable things posted today ladies!!! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on the new babies in the making!!! :lovestruc

T - I am going to do a TR this weekend. And I mean start and finish the whole thing! Just waiting on the "ok" from the moms at the dismeet to post pics of the kiddos in their adorable customs!

So I was thinking this morning that maybe instead of just posting a few random pics and post maybe I should let you guys get to know me:confused3... Hello! I'm Tina I am a stay-at-home mom to a 2 year old DD and a wifey. I currently live in Silvis IL. But was raised in Virginia beach Where I meet my hubby when I was working as a Hair Stylist. We ended up moving to Longveiw TX for a year before coming to IL. I would say I like it here but that would be a lie! I have not adjusted well with people or the area. Which has put a damper on my moods! It is very lonely not knowing anyone or having Family around. So I am very excited to be going to WDW in march with my family, parents, and my brother and his family! I have been sewing off and on since I was in middle school. I am not great by any means but my DH family is very impressed with my ability to look at something and then remake it. My family has always been crafty so to me its just another thing? I have a goal to work out and sew and keep my house spotless:lmao: and be the best mom and wife I can be but untill I figure out how to make my body do what my mind wants I am just here. Ok so neways! I just love that I found this board it keeps me excited and a place to feel at home. Thank you for letting me be a part of your group!

I just mailed my niece and nephew a box of clothes for WDW and thought dang why didn't I take pictures first? Well I will have lots of pics when we get back. Till then I have 2 girly pirate outfits to make, 1 pink minnie dress, lots off bows and stuff. Channel me some energy to get it done I have been fighting a cold and don't feel like doing anything! Ok well I think that is enough for one day.:surfweb:

It is so nice tro learn M ore about you!

I lost my multi-quote, darn computer locked up on me!!

Adi- CONGRATULAIONS!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Michelea- I love all the outfits!!! I was thinking of doing something like the cowboy Mickey shirts incase we go to Whispering Canyone again this year. I really love it there. I've always had a lot of fun when we go.

Misty- Those outfits and your nieces are adorable!!!

Beth- HOW do you burn youself on a sewing machine?? OUCH!!

Oh, I almost forgot!!!

KRISTINE!!!- If you DARE post pictures of my adorable niece and nephew with freaky swirly faces, I will hop in my van and drive over to bop you on the head!!!!

I won't...I swear!!! :rotfl:

I know that every child I have a picture of has been posted all over this thread but since it's not MY child...I figured that I better ask. I couldn't help but taking pics of them...they were so cute!!! And I have a great one of Dallas and Luke fighting over Tessa (it was the moment that Luke challenged Dallas with "what do you think you are doing???" when Dallas tried hugging Tessa :scared1:  )

I think stripwork would be your best bet. Here is my daughter's Valentines dress that I made in about 2 hours last night (very last minute) (watching american idol on and off). It came out pretty cute and she loves it. Today is her Valentines Day at school.

100_0579.jpg

My 8 year old went to Joanns with me last night and wanted something with the skunk valentines fabric that said "love stinks." She is not too much into skirts and dresses (like my other daughter) so she asked for a headband. I used Carla's Big beautiful Bows pattern, modified it a little (because I only bought 1/4 of a yard) and measured it for her head. I was kind of shocked, she really likes it!

100_0574.jpg
Awww she looks adorable!!! You did a great job!!! And that headband is so cute too!!!

I finally took some pictures of all the things I have finished in the last month or so. We head to Disney at the end of next month and I think I am finished sewing. I have some bows to make and maybe a tee or two for the adults in the group but the kids clothes are finished. Well, I may or may not embellished some shorts for my youngest with the same material used for his shirts. Here goes:

Here are my oldest son's array of shirts. He is 6.5 and seems to be really excited that I would do this for him. He is so cute!
IMG_0290.jpg

Next up is what I finally decided on for our dinner at the Wilderness Lodge. However after reading a few trip reports I sure hope our experience is better.
IMG_0291.jpg

Here is the final outfit for Ainsley, I repurposed a pair of jeans that were too short and made them into capris and also did the skirt. She can wear whichever.
IMG_0294.jpg

My youngest son is 2 and doesn't really care what he wears but seems to get really excited when he sees his shirts. "Mine?, mine?"
IMG_0295.jpg

The Leo tee is the one I am most proud of, it was the most complicated applique I have done to date. I think it turned out great and the best thing is that Jack LOVES it!
IMG_0296.jpg

IMG_0298.jpg

And just because I had these overalls laying around I added Rocket to them. It got a little tricky at the top when I apparently didn't take into account the metal latch part. I ended up having to hand sew a bit at the top that I just couldn't get my machine to.
IMG_0299.jpg

And finally pics from this morning of Ainsley in one of her valentines dresses. This is the fabric she chose and is wearing to preschool today. I am almost done with the one with fabric that I chose. She will wear it to church and I think will be fine to wear at other times as well. Let's just say it doesn't have any candy hearts on it!

And because Jack had to get in on the action too...
IMG_0289.jpg

Ainsley is driving me crazy this morning. She just can't wait to go to her "balentimes party" and show off her new dress. We still have another 20 minutes before we can leave. On the other hand it is nice to know she appreciates my work.

Awww so glad to learn more about you. I know what you mean about missing family and feeling lonely sometimes. Glad you found thsi thread...I know I love it. Very addicting though! LOL.

Beth- HOW do you burn youself on a sewing machine?? OUCH!!
Seriously....I am not kidding!!! My new fingerprint can prove it. The needle was on fire...hotter than heck!!! It was soooo strange!!!!???? I have no clue!??

And I have a great one of Dallas and Luke fighting over Tessa (it was the moment that Luke challenged Dallas with "what do you think you are doing???" when Dallas tried hugging Tessa :scared1:  )
Oh I can't wait to see this one....hurry up!!! LOL.

Hello Hello!!!

I have a quick "What would you sew" question- We are only doing a few days at the parks on this trip and we have customs for everything except our day at Hollywood Studios....what characters or themes should we consider? I have been thinking Toy Story...or maybe Wall E....but I still love whoever did the original Pluto Poodle skirt too....so many choices! We have three kiddos- 2 boys and a girl and I would like them all to match in some way .

Also a big HELLO to the poster from Silvis, IL. I grew up in Geneseo, IL and went to Augie before moving out near Iowa City!:goodvibes

Here are a couple quick shots of my DD in her Valentine's Day outfit. The jumper top is a little too big on her but I guiess that is better than being too small, right? LOL.

:goodvibes

1shirt-1.jpg

Close up of her Portrait Peasant Shirt....LOVE this pattern from CarlaC!!!

1heartfront.jpg

I think I should have added the red piping right under the bodice too, oh well. LOL.

Close up of the embroidered hearts on the pants.....I added the word "LOVE" next to each one too. Hard to tell in this picture.

Hi Friends,

Today was not a good sewing day. I messed up the very small mickey head on the back of DS safari shirt. It looks bad. I didn't get the curves right and it doesn't look very round at all. If I find the new fabric I will make a new one and try again.

Also, is anyone going to be in Disney from March 4-11? I just wanted to say hi really quick as I don't get to meet many people. I think I will be leaving just as Aimee arrives.

I won't...I swear!!! :rotfl:

OH I NEEEEED to see this picture!! I have heard all about it, but to see a picture!!! OOH I'm so excited!! I'm sure their parents won't mind!!! Please post it!!!! I'll speak for Heather, we are almost the same person, you know!!

The way Mom and Heather both told that story, it sounded pretty funny!!!

Speaking of funny, I hear you have a very good sense of humor!! Not that I doubted it for a second!

I think this is just adorable Beth!!!!! How CUTE!!! Isn't that a great pattern! All of them! I think it looks great, but if you want the bodice tighter, you could add a sash. Carla even put up a great tutorial for one!

Thank you so much Teresa! Hmmm...a sash would be a great idea. That Carla is awesome, isn't she?? I better go check out her tutorial on that!!!

Thank you! Your daughter looks so cute! I Love the outfit and the hearts! I didn't have much of a selection because I went to joanns like 2 days before Valentines day. There was the bears (that I used), The skunk (that I used), and some lips on black. That was about it!

About the sash. I think that's the pattern I used for the headband, big beautiful bows. It was so easy to use and to modify for the amount of fabric I had. I noticed the jumper runs a bit big  so I downsized and have been using the halter top (in the simply sweet pattern) because of the elastic in the back. They seem to fit much nicer (for my tiny daughter). :cutie:

I really should be updating a spreadsheet right now for my rescue group, but I thought...Oh, Ill just see whats up on the Disboards first...BIG mistake! And yesterday seemed so quiet.

Thank you all so much. :)

Valentines004.jpg

I just LOVE Waughzee's bows!! I just ordered 2 pair from her yesterday. These are darling! I like that they are Mickey/Minnie with a hint of V Day.

Just got home.:sad1:

We had a wonderful time, except for one little problem on our last day that I won't go into detail with.

Everyone we met were very nice! All the kids got along great! Leighanna misses her new friends already!

Very windy here. Lots of turbulance on the landing, and Leighanna was having some ear issues too. Not fun!

I will try to post some pictures, or maybe even try to do a trip report.

We had so many magical things happen to us on this trip, I don't want to forget any of them!

No time to go back and get caught up!

Tom, welcome back! Now you have me wondering what happened. Hope Leighanna's ears are back to normal soon! Post some photos when you get a chance. I loved the ones you posted while you were there. So what's next on your sewing to do list?

!

Aww thank you so much for all the info. As I mentioned up above, I cheated and just cut my own hole and stitched around it. LOL. I "think" my machine is an auto-button holer...?? It comes with some button-hole foot???!! And I am sure this is a stupid question but I have no idea what you mean when you say bartack???? (Sorry....in-hiding now, hanging head in shame).???? LOL
check out Carla's free tutorial to understand bartacking. (its the top and bottom of the button hole) and its what will add stability to your buttonholes, and keep them from splitting open further with use. You might consider using fray check at least on the back of your handmade buttonholes
and dont feel ashamed!!! Im sure theres a ton I dont know about sewing too.

This is adorable- I love the lace edgeing- do you apply to the outter edge with a zigzag stitch?

What pattern and what size is this sweet 'lil thing wearing?

DmbFan Big Give

This Give is almost full, except for autograph books for the two kids. It would be great if we could get this one finished up real soon! The autograph books don't even need to be printed on the inside, just a cute cover! :thumbsup2

It just so happens that I have big Mickey heads cut out (from my Cricut!) that I cut planning to make autograph books. I've been wanting to get them off of my craft table. I went and signed up!

AND, speaking of Big Gives - I really need to say this. After having given in the big give for Becca and seeing that sweet girl's joy, and then her going in to the hospital in critical condition immediately following her trip, this whole Big Give thing has come into much clearer perspective for me. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to give this little girl even an ounce of joy. I will do whatever I can, whenever I can to contribute to these children in the future.

Well since you complimented me ;) (btw, I also apparently remind Heather and your mom of your relative Myrna????...still hoping that you guys LIKE that relative)

Here is a peek at my meet pics. The rest you will have to wait until I get everything loaded into Photobucket so I can start my TR

This is when things were going well...

And then it almost got ugly...but the boys decided to be gentlemen and share Tessa's love :lovestruc

boo hoo!! We will miss you by three days!

Sometimes you can go over your satin again in certain areas. I did that today when I made a wonky O and was able to save it. :)

Shannon, thank you.

I know what you mean about Becca. You know I KNEW that these were sick kids, but I didn't really believe that something was going to happen to any of them. You know? Becca is just sooo sooo sweet and wonderful. This is just killing me inside. I can honestly say that I love that little girl. I'm so glad I was able to contribute to her Give too.
