Oh, I have a quick question. What size squares do those of you use when you are making the fleece rag quilts? I stopped by Joanns today and they had a sale so I grabbed some. Thanks!

OK...should I leave the ruffles or just take them out and add just a band???

as usual lots of pages behind that I have to go read!!!

Linette

i think it looks great! And my 11 1/2 yo said she would love the ruffles on the pants!

Cute!

I am really tired lately too I wonder if it is this winter just dragging us down????

I'll blame the weather! I hate this weather!!! I hate winter, I hate the cold and the wind and I'm SICK SICK SICK of the snow!!!

Ok, here's what I just finished. I made it as a practice to get used to the pattern. I plan to use it to make Ava's Easter dress, this year. I got this beautiful brocade fabric to use, so I really want it to be perfect. No mistakes. That's why I'm practicing. This dress came out pretty cute, but it definitely has its imperfections. Not visible on camera, though, so I'll just keep it to myself where the imperfections lie :p

Linette, you crack me up!!! I can't believe you gave away the outfit then just whipped up another one!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I love the ruffles!!! This is really cute!

The last outfit that I posted I was not too sure about it as it looked like it needed more ... but when I was sewing the outfit on Sunday a friend of ours was in the house with his wife and two daughters, the older one is 9 yrs old , and as I was trying to decide what to do, I asked her to try it on, (big mistake!!) she wanted the outfit for her and I felt bad so I gave her to her, on the funny note I asked her what she thought about adding ruffles and she told me that no "cool" girl wears ruffles as they are for babies!!!!!!:confused3 :faint: :faint: :sad2:

I made another outfit and did add the ruffles:flower3: but I have this nagging feelings in the back of my head...

I made a headband to go with it but may be too big, It has elastic so maybe I can re do it ---can somebody give me the measures for a little girls head? this is for Noah's sister (she is 8yrs)

Linette, you are truly amazing! I don't know how you can make things off the top of your head, stay tuned for my butcher job. I love the outfit and I love the ruffles. I don't know about what girls think but I love everything you make. Amazing.

Has anyone made the a line for an older girl? How do I find out the measurements for the sizes? Does it fit snug or roomy? TIA for anyone's help.

Linette and all others who get ideas in your head and then try to bring them to life. I need help. I thought to make a sundress today from an idea. I know the sides must come in a bit and the back needs to be shirred down more, but why did the shirring come out so loose and weird on the top rows?

Is it because I didn't pull it tight enough onto the bobbin? Also, I messed up the facing when cutting out the first one. The I sewed the second one on to the wrong side but I left it.

I put the stitching in dk blue so I could see the mistakes more.

What do I need to do to fix this dress? Take in the sides, put in more shirring, but what else? Do you like the thin strap of the thick one?

I cut it out of a sheet sample we got at work last year and the fabric is very stiff. The bottom skirt part is a total of 6 pieces. Two big ones front and back and then two panels on each side front and back. The bodice is one piece and then the back. Easy on that.

Sorry about the bra. I see the back needs to come up some! Again, this is the stage to make adjustments so please help me out to fix this up.

I like the shirt! I think you did a lot of hard work on it and Madi seems to love it. I wouldn't fill it in. I think that that would make it too heavy. Love the petti that you got. I can never find a super deal like that.

This one is just as cute as the last one that you posted. I like the ruffles. YouCanMakeThis.com has a free headband pattern. It is super easy to do and it has the sizes in it for babies all the way up to adults.

What size squares did you use in your quilt? This may be a dumb question but I have never made one before and I was hoping for some tips. Thank you!

Hi - This was my first too!!!! I used the directions here, because I liked the look of the quilt - the large squares were 8 and a half inches and the small squares were 4 and three quarters inches........

I got the directions here -

I cant wait to see yours!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I have never made one with /fleece. You need a fabric that frays to get the effect.

So glad you finally decide to tackle a rag quilt. Please post pics when it is ready.

What size squares did you use in your quilt? This may be a dumb question but I have never made one before and I was hoping for some tips. Thank you!

I have done them in many different sizes. My DS has made 3 of them with six 20" x 20" squares. I have made a few with squares anywhere between 8 and 12 inches.

Oh, and Wendy, I am glad you got the scissors. Makes it much easier doesn't it? I wouldn't dream of trying to snip one without them.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me the link and answer my question. I can't wait to get started. I think I bought two different prints for my quilt so I don't know how detailed it will be. I was thinking just a small throw for the living room. I will post some pics when I am done. I hope yours comes out great too! Thanks again!

Quilts are just sooo cool!!!!

I got mine out of the dryer and put it right back in for another wash and dry - any tips for getting a great fray????

Here it is pre washing....

Looks great. Love the snowman material. I like lots of fuzzyness, so I tend to snip closer together, like about 1/4" apart.
