That steamboat Mickey dress is up there in my all time favorite disboutique items!

I knew you guys with empathize with me...I got a PIN for $594 per adult AND a $500 giftcard...BUT the future of DH"s job is up in the air so no way....sigh.

I feel your pain. After my husband got laid off and his new job pays less we haven't been able to make any plans to go back yet....and I work for Disney!

Now we are looking into moving further away from Disney. He got a call from Stevens Point, Wisconsin. I really would love to move there. We will have to see what happens.

Flounce skirt-I feel so stupid. Apparently last night I was too tired to be sewing. I apparently never cut the shorts piece out. So what pieces did I sew together for the shorts you ask? Why the sleeves to the peasant top I also cut out of the same fabric. :crazy2: You all have my permission to laugh at me. :rotfl2:I know I am. Carla there isn't anything wrong with your pattern just the person sewing it together. :thumbsup2

Im so happy you figured it out!! YAY!!!!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thank goodness!!! I thought I was losing my mind!

I'm making a size 5 pleated one today, and you had me all scared that my own pattern wouldn't work! :crazy2:

Phew!

I love the pleated skirt pattern Carla!! Thanks for making those directions - I really appreciate your clear patterns and directions - so very helpful - I think I'd still be tracing regular sweat pants for a pattern and not making anything else!!! lol!!!!:rotfl2:

Ho Do you get codes? I've taken every survey, sign up for email, visit the website, ask for the DVD etc - and not once have I gotten a code or email!!!

Ok I need some opinions.

Can anyone think of a different character for in the date or do you like the McQueen?
You would think the boys would be easy since I have 2 of them!

Tracie

I like it as is - or what about Buzz and Woody?????? They are AWESOME!!!!

Crystal, that IS funny!!! I think we've all done something silly with a pattern a time or two!!! I know I have more times than I'd like to admit, even when I'm NOT tired!

But, now I've got the founce skirt pattern all cut out and taped together for the skirt I want to make Lydia, so thanks! :thumbsup2

You are making a 7? I printed mine out, checked it, double checked, then tripple checked with my tape measurer, and they are the same size for me. Are you sure your printer settings were set right? Did you cut everything on the fold that should be?

I can measure some of my pieces and then you can compare to what you have if you want.

(sorry if this was already resolved, I just saw the question and went and checked right away, I haven't got caught up yet!)
catch up and you will be laughing your butt off!!!:rotfl2:

Oh! In the midst of freaking out about my skort pattern, I totally forgot to let you all know that the sash tute is finished!

Thanks so much for all the great feedback! I ended up doing 3 bow sizes with 3 belt sizes each. The only thing that I didn't get in there that was requested was how to work the straps into the back of the bodice. I'll get that up there down the line, but I think Shannon explained it pretty well already :thumbsup2 . With this one, you'd just extend the blunt ends the needed amount.

Just downloaded mine. I am very excited to use it. Hopefully I will get some sewing done today!

Sorry about the job thing But considering I am in the part of IL that they call Lower WI where is Steven's point?

Awww thanks for being so sweet, ladies! And thanks for the great comments on the blog...I LOVE comments! :cool1:

No worries, Crystal! I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to my patterns, so I definitely want to know if something is off! I drive my DH crazy - I hyperfocus on the patterns while the household decomposes around me :scared: ! :rotfl2:

Bummer!

I ordered this really cute fabric with different colors of pink and green dots all over it - ready to try to make my first rag quilt for my friend's birthday - got it on ebay - sooo excited!

Well, I just got the fabric in the mail, and the dots are HUGE!! Like 5 inch dots! I dont think it will work at all! errrrrrrr,,,,The picture made it look like small quarter sized dots all over the fabric - I am so bummed!!!! Now what to do??? Plus its like a heavy material.....oh well, live and learn.....:sad2:

I am now done with the skirt and it is perfect. I can't wait till Jenna gets home so I can try it on her. I CASEd Stephanie's skirt that she made Megan. So I know it will be cute.:thumbsup2

Crystal, you are so sweet! I am glad you figured out your sleeves/shorts problem and I can't wait to see the skirt.

WENDY I am so sorry I meant to try to help you earlier and then got distracted. I have an almost 15 year old Kenmore and while I love it, it can cause some problems, especially like you are describing with the bottom thread bunching up like that. This is what I do when it happens, in this order.

1) Rethread the machine. Sometimes the thread comes out of the little holders. I also rethread the bobbin, sometimes the thread gets caught on it. If that doesn't fix it, go to #2

2) Replace the needle. Sometimes when the needle is dull it causes problems. If that isn't it, go on to #3

3) Take out the bobbin and shuttle case and clean and oil. Unscrew the face plate and clean and oil. Run some scrap fabric to make sure you get all the oil out.

Usually it's #1, but if I get to #3, it really needs it! I have had it since we first were married and I have never had to get it serviced (much to my mother's dismay, lol). If you need directions on how to take it apart, pm me and I will copy mine and send them to you. It's really easy once you do it a couple of times. I also have a page of troubleshooting I could copy for you too, but once I do those three things it always works fine. HTH!

This is exactly what I do with my Kenmore if the thread bunches up. Of course, there are tears and stomps and bad words, but eventually it all works out. My Kenmore was originally a gift to my mom 16 years ago, but she moved on to a bigger and better machine and gave me hers!

I've been perusing the applique section in the bookmarks - I'd love to find the mickey head applique pattern! :thumbsup2 Under Applique - How to - I clicked on DISboutiquers - Applique & it's asking me for a log-in/password? :scratchin Can someone help me out? LOL :goodvibes TIA!

Oh, I left out the cursing and crying, that is a given I think! :lmao:

I am stubbornly holding on to it; DH even offered to buy a new machine for Christmas. I hate to learn new things though!

I finished one more dress tonight. I have been slowing working on this one for three days. I have one more to make though. These are not exactly my favorite dresses to make but the outcome is totally worth it. :)

**** I resized the pictures. I have no idea why the are ginormus!!! Sorry!!!****

Beautiful dress Aimee! I love the pink on the ruffles!

I'm a little behind, so you've probably already made this, but the notches are the front and face up. I found this out the hard way when I was making a dozen for my DD's birthday party. Luckily I made a test one first or I'd have ended up with 12 names on the INSIDE of the hat! (and upside down too!) So... notches UP and that is the front.

I love these! My daughters fight over our one easy bake oven apron, chef's hat and mitt so I guess I had better make these for them. They would have been perfect for favors for Grace's b-day last year. Our fancy grocery store has a cooking area in the upstairs eating area and they do children's birthday parties there. So we did a princess theme and the kids made their own food. It was so much fun and I didn't have any mess (really the best part of the whole thing)! It was kind of expensive but we only invited 10 kids and they included the cake from their bakery so in the long run, not too bad. They did give the kids paper chef's hats (Carla, what is the real word for these - Toq's????) but real ones would have been fantastic! Great job on them, what a great Mom!

The Disney Outlet was at our mall for a few weeks and I bought Madilynn this shirt
th_SDC10533.jpg

because I wanted to make her a skirt based on this jumper

Do you think that's too much dots? Can you ever have too many dots?

This all is so hard for me. It's so much easier to have a pattern tell me exactly what I need and how to do it than to try to figure it all out.

Silly girl! You can never have too many dots! It looks to me like this might be Carla C's Simply Sweet dress with a patchwork skirt. I can never figure out how much fabric to buy when I do a stripwork or patchwork so I always end up with too much (that's better than not enough right?)

So what does a mom do on a friday morning at 2:17 am while waiting for her 11 yr old son's Fever to drop drastically so he does not have a seizure?

Beautiful outfits. And we'd all probably like to see bigger pictures!

Ughh. Doesn't that figure? Times are so scary right now so you are being so good and cautious. But I know how disappointing it is!

Wendy, I finally got a code in the mail about two weeks ago and it was for Disneyland. We always go to WDW so I was really disappointed. I guess it really doesn't matter since the next time we will go will be in about 14 months with my DH's family (God help me!) and we are staying off property. Until Lilly is down to one nap a day I don't want to go back since none of my kiddos has ever slept well in strollers and cranky kids aren't much fun! So hopefully it will be a great trip when she is about 19 months (even though the in-laws and everyone else will be there).

That stinks! I hate it when that happens! Look how brave you are though, trying a rag quilt!

We all love your very exact patterns Carla! They truly are the best. I just recommended the Simply Sweet dress pattern to a friend last night. It's one of my BFF's younger sisters. She is one of my friends on facebook. Anyway, the other day I noticed that my friend Jennifer commented on facebook to her sister Jill to look at my pictures at the clothes for WDW (and at the same time she sent me a message commenting on them). Come to find out they are going to WDW with their whole family (parents, 3 kids and spouses, 6 grandkids - 4 girls, two boys). Jill then sends me a message asking if I would "help" her make the Cinderella dresses I did for Amber Greenawalt's Big Give for their four girls. Yikes! And of course they leave in March. Now I know all of you fast sewers out there would have them done in no time but I am super slow! And I'm in the middle of making V-Day dresses for my girls and want to do St. Patty's Day too. And by "help" I think she means I make them! SO I told her I would do the applique on the bodice of the dresses but she could make the skirts (or have their Mom sew them since she is a wonderful seamstress and makes their babies bedding). Should I have agreed to just do the whole thing? I really wasn't sure if she wanted to learn how to sew herself (and what better way is there than using Carla's patterns?) or if she wanted me to do it all. Like I said her older sister is one of my BFF's and has been since we were 7 (so for those of you counting, 28 years). We were in each other's weddings and everything. I love her but FOUR DRESSES! And of course she picks the most complicated of the appliques. And now I'm feeling bad since I'm not making the boys anything so I am racking my brain trying to come up with something for the boys that won't be too time consuming. So I am kind of thinking either a simple shirt with an applique or the bowling shirt. I don't know. Ughh. I might stop posting my "creations" on facebook I think! It's causing a lot of work!

I hate it when I go over my "image" number! Sorry if I took out your picture or smilie!

Has anyone heard that Hancock's filed for bankruptcy?

Are you asking b/c you heard a rumor or are you wondering if we all had heard? Our Hancock's is kind of yucky but they have really good fabric so I don't want them to go under! And they have licensed fabric in something other than fleece (unlike Joann's). Do I need to make an emergency trip there?

Carla, thanks so much! you have always been extremely generous! I just wish you 'd make a step by step Aurora or Cinderella dress.
