I'm kind of wasting time right now. I of course have a ton of :laundy: to do that I am trying to ignore. And then I need to get started on dresses for my BFF's daughter and three nieces. I am dreading it! I hate making three of the same dresses for my girls let alone four of them! Oh well. I better get them done so I can start on Easter dresses for my girls (which I have ordered just in case I don't get any made!).

I just booked a studio at Saratoga Springs and flights too. Well the flights I just booked for DD and I, because hubby is not sure if he can get off. So even if I have to pay more for him later, I still got super cheap flights. Let me tell you, I cannot drive for what I got. Some aspects of a down economy are nice.

Anyway, we will be there April 28th through May 5th. I cannot wait to see the Flower Festival at Epcot. Any good custom ideas for that? Anyone going then that might like to meet up with a slightly deranged, but fun to be with lady and her feisty 4 year old?

WHat I have noticed it is doing is pulling more thread into the bobbin area, almost like it is getting stuck, so I took that part apart, pulled out the bobbin case/house whatever it is called and put it all back together, but it kept doing it. I think I am going to get machine oil and putting it on the hook and the bottom where the manual suggests you do. But any other feed back would be helpful, I have threaded and re-threaded a zillion times. . . Thanks so much!

When mine did this, I flipped the bobbin to spin the other way and it fixed it. Haven't had a problem since, and that was about a year ago.

Is it sacriliage to belong to these creative boards and only plan one custom outfit per day?

Our last trip, I got so bogged down in 2 or 3 customs a day, plus pettiskirts, and hairbows and bracelets and necklaces. Then I had "back up " outfits in case there was spillage. I'm trying to pare down a bit. So how many outfits do you plan a day while at Disney?

When I worked at a sewing machine dealership, we had people come in with problems like this ALLLLLL the time. Our recommendations were:

1) change your needle..70% of tension issues can be solved by replacing your needle.

2) use a long piece of dental floss and thread the machine as you would with thread. Tighten your tension and pull the piece of dental floss SLOWLY and COMPLETELY through the tension system. This will remove any dust or loose threads that may be caught in the tension system.

3) reset your tensions and rethread the machine and try again!

Good luck!

I'm no help. My solution would involve the purchase of a new machine, and the throwing out the window of the old. :rotfl2:
LOL!! You don't know how many times I wanted to do that!!! The machine is way to expensive and only 4 months old. . .

Check the thread you are using. Is it old? Then recheck the top tension. It looks like the top is not tight so it is not pulling the bottom. Take all the threads out, bobbin out and check each part. Even lint build up can jam the tension disk. Rethread and see if it helps.

As a last resort, take it in to the shop.

Back to applique pirate heads.

I am so sorry! That sucks!!! I would check the tension disks as well. Honestly it might be an issue with your bobbin case. I had a similar issue and took my machine in. Turned out it was nothing with the tension but all with the bobbin case. He told me to make sure to keep the lint clean and have my machine in for cleaning/service on a regular basis.

Mine does this every once in a while, only it will never sew forward again. It gets all tangled in a ball and usually will cause a hole in the shirt when I try to get it out. BUT it is always huge amounts of lint/dust in the bobbin area. It did this the monday before we left and I cleaned everything out real good and worked fine afterward. Hopefully that is your issue. I didn't even need to remove the bobbin casing this time, that kind of freaks me out.

Thanks so much everyone for your help!!

I had re-thread it and cleaned out the lint (last time it happened it was b/c of that. However, I read the manual through and saw it suggested oil on the hook and under the bobbin holder (the thing you put the bobbin in) so I went to the store and got some, did that and it worked PERFECTLY!! I was so frustrated, thanks for your help!!

Everyone posted LOTS and LOTS of great outfits!! :woohoo: Loved them all.

I had to shorten the top of the easy fit pants to fit DGD4. I had the same problem, they were midway up on her belly and then the legs were too short. I took an inch off the top and added it to the lenght of the legs. It fits her so much better.

Was the pattern upside down? :rolleyes1 (I will admit that I have done that!)

this shirt is really a labor of love::love:

MY MOTHER : MADE THE PATTERN FOR ME and
BETH (MOUSETRIPPER): SEND ME THE MICKEY FABRIC
and I did the sewing...

This came out great. As all your outfits do! I LOVE this fabric!!

2 Weeks and counting down.

I do have outfits finished but I want to post pictures of us wearing them. I am ready to give up on that idea.

Here is the matching yet different pirate outfits. I don't have a cheap gold hoop earring but plan to buy it and put it in the ear. So here is a dress earrring instead.

I think it looks great. :woohoo:

Here is a dress I made for my niece with a reversible head band.

I have shorts cut out of the blue for my nephew and now I need to find a white shirt to match and I may applique a patch of the pooh material on it.

Do you think the bucket hat of these 2 materials is too girlie for a 2 yr old boy???
IMG_0791.jpg

I LOVE this fabric everytime I see it! Now, if only I could find it and buy it myself! This is cute.
My vote would be for an all blue (or maybe 2 tone blue, with a deeper shade) and you could applique a pooh on the hat. 2 is border line- they are getting old enough to have opinions and I would guess he might be more partial to the primary colored pooh. Thats just my opinion and can be totally disregarded! I cant wait to see what you make!

Okay, Im off to upload photos!

I tried out my BIA yesterday. I wanted to do a test run before I did the real thing. It is going to be AWESOME! It took a few times for me to be able to figure out how to line things up after I cut the first page. But I figured it out, so it'll be great!

I bought my ATG from www.thetapedepot.com. I bought a 12 pack of tape refills at the same time. I've been watching the cricut board, and it looks like that site is highly recommended. Did I order from the right place? NOW, if only I can figure out where to buy patterned paper in bulk, I'll be good! I used to buy from CTMH, but they've discontinued their background and texture paper in the color packs like they used to carry. I want a pack of paper that has different patterns, but all in the exact same color. I'm not having much luck!

That's actually where I bought my ATG from as well, and I have ordered tape refills from there too, but I have another place I buy them from- the tape is 2 sided and acid free, and does not get all gummy like the 3M tape does, so I prefer this tape instead. It actually costs less then the 3M stuff too!

As for the paper, when you say patterned paper, do you mean texturized paper that is a solid color, that is like cardstock?

MAUREEN BITE YOUR TOUNGE!!!!

Don't forget about the smocked back ups to the back ups! :) You know if Daddy comes it will be easier because he can carry everything in his backpack. See there is a reason to bring him. That is why Brett comes. ;)

Snubie- the Flower and Garden Show at Epcot is my all time favorite event!!!
And I have not had a chance to post how much I love this idea.
Ill admit, Im not a fan of the Vida for some reason. But this dress just sold me!

I am going to a Flower and Garden Show here in Conneticut next weekend- could you whip me up one in a maternitiy top??? ;)

Photos....
Just cause they look so cute-
My kitties, Boaz (Bo) and Bella

he is 20lb and she is about 7 or 8lbs

Here is my first Simply Sweet. The top fits better without a shirt under it- This is the size 2. Easy Fit pants, size 3, with 1 inch added to the top and 1 inch subtracted from the bottom, before adding the cuff.

Here is the back

She wanted a picture with one of our dogs

She was getting into the idea of posing and is looking for my shoulder now to see herself

I just love the vida and the simply sweet!

MinnieVanMom! Your outfits are all great too!

I know there was more posted that I missed too.

And a little closer up of on specific page

You can see - they're all the same color, but different background patterns. They're not cardstock weight, more patterned paper weight.

I LOVED that I could get this in any color from CTMH. I need to find a place that I can purchase all of the different designs, but all in the same color, and not multi-colored. Make sense?

LOVE how this turned out. I had to go buy that fabric because everyone was talking about it. I've washed it, but not cut it out and started to sew anything yet.

I bought some similair to that at Costco a few years ago. It was a pack that had various prints for all the colours. I think it was like 500 sheets for around 15$? Maybe they still have something like that?

I am so sorry I am missing you. I just got a lovely PM from another Diser and I am missing her too. So sad really! I would love to CASE your flower idea, but I am not going to ask permission to. Here is why...I can't sew very well, and I definately can't applique, and NO WAY would I try a Vida...so you are safe. Now if you want to LOAN it to me...you know since we are missing each other...i"ll take it!

Aimee you bite your tongue right back. Last trip I was so obsessed I had at least 2 outfits per day, and then smocked back ups for every day, and then the pre -shirred Disney dresses too. It's just too much. Daddy has no patience with that stuff either. He actually had the nerve to say to me yesterday, "You have ruined her. I don't even try to get her dressed anymore. I just send her up to her room and put on whatever she picks out. What is wrong with a tee shirt and jeans?" I almost divorced him on the spot, but figured it was too much of a hassle. At least she knows better!!

hehehehe I know we brought so much stuff in September! LOL Remember how we even brought matching just in case smocked dresses. I do not think either of the girls ever wore those! OMG Brett is the same way he will not get them dressed. When we were away for the weekend I left Brett two outfits for Sophee each day organized with a little chart. Then I taught him how to put one bow in her hair. I clipped each bow to the smocked dress. He did pretty good. Brett HATES pettiskirts. I think it makes me want to buy more. :rotfl2:

CINDEE!!!
I was really just joking about stop posting terrible pictures of me! Sorry! I think all pictures of me are terrible. :rotfl: and I was really joking, I hope I'm not the reason the pictures are gone!

All Disboutique meeters, you may post photos of my kiddos, but if you post photos of me, please photoshop 50 pounds off, okay? But if not, that's okay too. post away.

Darling little Lily...that teeny tiny sprite of a thing is riding Tower of TERROR?!:scared1:

she is SO my kind of kid!!:thumbsup2 I can't believe she's grown up enough to ride the big kid rides!!!

one more thing...I find that Diet Coke first thing in the morning is a fabulous jolt of caffeine!! Never fails!!!:cool1:

Breakfast of champions! I can't believe she is growing up soooo fast! :sad2:

I just got back at 1:30 this morning and am doing nothing I should be (unpacking, laundry, taking Seth to basketball :rolleyes1 ) but I am uploading nearly 900 photos to the computer. I'm still trying to decide if I'll do a TR or not. I do have lots of customs I didn't have time to post photos of before I left though, so I'll try to get something into photobucket.
