Thanks for everyone's congrats! His name is Cameron Scott. He was 7 lbs, 10ozs and 19 inches long. I feel great, much better than I did a few days ago! Around half time during the Superbowl, I started to feel uncomfortable and called the midwife to say I was coming in. Got to the hospital around 9pm, was 5cm and he was born at 11:05. Things moved fast and furious! I added his photo to my sig, we'll see if it works. I have a terrible time with photobucket.

Aww, he is cute and look at the hair. Welcome to the world Cameron Scott!

This is my dress that I was working on yesterday out of sheet. Today I made a few adjustments and cut in fabric. It is now a bit too tight and it squishes what little there is. I plan to release the darts a bit and see if it helps. Other than that I can't do much else. I am going to adjust the paper pieces to put back an itsy bitsy into the bodice. Urg, it is giving me problems but is my first design.

I need to learn more about how dress go together so I do better next time. Thanks for the support!

Wow! It looks GREAT!

I got 2 of these pillowcases on sale today, and now I don't know what to do with them. Has anyone made anything with them?
th_SSL21798.jpg

For those in Canada, they were 1.94 at the supercentre and mixed in with the new tink pillowcases. These were actually in a pile at the very back of the top shelf, and sort of hidden by all the other pillowcases.
What about a pillowcase dress!

I'm asking again.....
Help?
I wish I could help but I have no clue
:scratchin Found it :rolleyes2 Okay Tyler found it :rotfl: It was on top of my nightstand in a folded dish towel, I had beed doing laundry the other night and the basket was on the floor in front of the nightstand, I guess I was in a panic when I went through the clothes and I missed it :rotfl2:
SO GLAD you found it!!!!!

I thin it looks great!

thanks...but this isn't exactly what I need. The skirt I'm making has no train - I have to create a bustle and sew it into the waistband.
I was experimenting with napkins at lunch and I think I might have it...I'll just take a yard of fabric, double it, round the edges and sew them, fill it with fiberfill (like a small, thin, pillow), gather the top edge, and attach it to the waistband, then tack the bottom edges to the skirt so it doesn't flop around.

I can envision it...now to do it...

Wish me luck!

DD2 took her nap on me this afternoon and I wandered around online....
I found fabricworm.com and saw this set of fabrics that sooo reminds me of the "Be our guest" scene from Beauty and the Beast.
Thought I would share :)

Now I have that song stuck in my head ;)

This is so cute! What a great B&B outfit it would make. I love the fabrics.

I have been a long time lurker on this thread. I just finished my first skirt tonight:cheer2: I have no where near the talent you all have but I thought I could give it a try. I decided to stick with a "simpler" item first. Our first trip is in May so I thought I could try a few things. Here is a skirt for dd 14 mo. for AK.

001.jpg

I think it's adorable. You did a great job! Thanks for sharing.

I can't sleep - got a lot on my mind - so I'm sewing.

I'm working on that dress for Clara Schumann (several pages back- page 32 shows a picture of her).
I need to make a bustle on the skirt.

HELP!

I'm making a very full skirt and it should have a very full bustle. I don't even know how to start making a bustle. Any ideas?

I'm making a wench outfit for my neice that likes to go to Renfaires. It's not a bustle, but it bunches up. The pattern had me put ribbon ties inside, sewn to the waistband. Then I sewed little rings to the skirt. Tied the ribbon through the rings to bunch it up. Will that help?

Hi all! I think my mouse is killing over! I think Timmy slammed it last night when he got mad at a game...errrr! I think this may come out of his money!

Anyway...it snowed! Yipee! Okay...I know some of you are sick of snow...but we get excited the one or two days a year it actually shows up around here!:lmao:

SO...snow pictures for your enjoyment...

P1300289.jpg

Have a great day....

Oh! And here is the best part of snow days...anybody want some hot chocolate? :coffee:
P1300300.jpg

You have a beautiful home. I could have used a hot chocolate at 5am. My car door was frozen shut and I thought I was going to have to call out of work. But after 20 minutes of pulling and banging. I finally got it open.

OOOH... Did you guys watch Oprah yesterday? You need to check out www.couponmom.com !!! I need help w/ the coupon thing. Especially since some times are better than others to use a coupon (like when an item is already on sale!) I found a site called the grocery game a couple of years ago and was paying for membership only to never use the program b/c I was a busy working mom. Now staying at home I have been tempted to start back up but was worried that then I would be spending money I definitely don't have on the membership and not using it. THIS SITE IS FREE. She cross references coupons w/ store sales and even lets you know if you can split up BOGO items and the percentage of savings. It's not as detailed as the grocery game and the grocery store I shop at the most wasn't listed BUT it is still a pretty helpful site. Thought you'd all like to know.
...t.

Tberi, look at Ebates. I use that one. It's good for online shopping, even Ebay. Southwest is on it, and other airlines, for anyone wanting to book thier flight to Disney. You get a percent back every quarter and they show you coupons also.

Just needed to a wee bit of happy dance. Our trip is paid for. :):cheer2: :cheer2: Back to sewing!!!

We went to MK and met Tom and Angela and Leighanna!!!! Morgan and I went on a bunch of rides with them. The girls had so much fun together! I got some great pictures and (video LOL). I got to see Tom's Lady outfit in person-it is awesome!!!!!!!

Morgan calls Tom "Mr. T" and thinks he is wonderful! She wanted to ride all the rides with him and his family- she totally forgot about me

If it is ok with Tom I will share the pictures of his adorable daugther and Morgan.

Hi Everyone!

Welcome Cameron!!!! Woo Hoo!!:cool1:

MinnieVanMom - WOW - you are doing GREAT with that dress!!

Daniel now looks like a kiddo who has cancer - his hair is falling out alot and he asked his dad to shave his head for him.....hats seem to give him a headache right now so he hasnt been wearing them. They also got a call today that the job that his Dad was laid off from will no longer carry them on the insurance (the company is owned by Daniels mom's uncle - he didnt have the guts to call, had his secretary do it)....but they are waiting to hear from PA medicaid for Daniel,,,not sure what they are doing for themselves, but the other kids I think can get on CHIPS program...I told his dad he should get a job at the hospital...although I dont have kids, they offer free healthcare and prescriptions for the children of their employees!! His walking and balance are improving every time we see him - speech seemed a tiny bit better today! He is getting medication to keep his tummy calm, so he is hungry as a horse!! He hasnt been doing any school yet - he has been out of school since the beginning of Dec, so Im guessing he will have to repeat this year??? Really, until radiation is done, I dont see how he would squeeze school in - and his mind isnt totally clear for learning yet....any one have thought or experience with the educational part of a sick child's care????

I haven't posted in a really long time but I still follow the thread. I just love all the wonderful things you guys make. We're home.:sad1: The time flew by way too fast! We had a great time but some not so great weather-2 wonderful days but then cold and wet. We had lots and lots of magical moments-I really LOVED meeting Bolt-he was so cute-now I've to to see the movie! We had a very long day yesterday with a 4 hour flight delay-arrived at the airport after 11:30pm. I had a truly wonderful friend who picked us up at the airport-I've got to make her something nice!!!!

Lots of wonderful things were posted!!!!

All 3 of us. My mom also has Dumbo shirt like mine.
ThreeofusinDumbo.jpg
WOW!!!!! I LOVE those Dumbo outfits!!!!

$200 gift card question

Can it be used for anything? As in can we pay for meals with it? I believe the birthday one they have restrictions on but hadn't seen anything about this one. I know a couple have gone already so hope you'll have an answer.
This card isn't as restrictive as the b-day one. I charged everything back to the room and then put the $200 toward the room balance.

So it seems like there are several of us traveling to WDW in May. What are everyone's travel dates? Could there be another dismeet in the future?
We will be there May 9-16.

I'll be there 5/2 to 5/9.

I did a triple layer skirt with an appliqued tee. I was so frustrated with my applique last night I took my machine in again. The repair guy said there was a lot of little things wrong. Last week they told me to use better thread. I am skeptical that everything is fine. I have a pretty intricate Jaq and Gus I am starting tonight so we will see.

So cute! What thread did they say to use with your Viking? I noticed mine doesn't do well with Coats & Clark-I buy Gutterman-is that OK?

It does hurt when your hair is falling out. It feels like your head always felt when you had had your hair up in a pony tail for too long. It will be better if his dad shaves it off for him. My kids did mine, my husband was in Kuwait, and they videoed it so my husband could watch it later. I was sick of it falling out every time I ran my hand through it or worse at the dinner table. Once it came out I don't remember my head hurting anymore, but my head did get cold. Of course I was without hair during the winter months. I would put a stocking cap on just to take the dogs out to potty. I'm glad he's making progress.

Wendy,

Daniel remains in our prayers daily as does his family. I know that somewhere there will be something good to come of all this but honestly, I don't know what yet. I am so glad God is charge. It sounds like he is doing as best he can and I hope his speech improves. With time there will be so many great improvements.

I know that the kids here do have an aide come to where they are and teach them so they don't get to far behind. DS Godmother use to go all over teaching math and english. Perhaps it is something to look into.

Thank you Wendy for keeping us updated. Daniel is very dear to my heart.

Could someone please explain to me proper placement of a dart on the underside? How far up does the dart go to? Also, how do you know how much to take in on the wide part?

Sorry, I have released the darts and want to get it right this time.

When my cousin was sick with Leukemia he ended up two years behind in school. He was at St Jude and I don't think that they had anything in place for tutoring.

That is really cute. I love the placement of the Mickeys that is too cute.

Can anyone tell me the measurements for the largest size of the A Line top? I like the pattern, but my daughter is on the edge of the sizes and don't want to waste my money.

Thank you so much for sharing that info with me - that does make so much sense....it is very cold here right now, and i just feel so bad for him. His dad did try to shave it off with a buzzer, but Daniel wants him to take a razor to his head, but his dad is afraid he will cut his head! My DH was wondering if he should take his electric razor to them - that wouldnt cut it, right? but do you think it would sting? I have gone back and forth about the buket hat - because that could fit so loose, but right now, Im not sure I could do it through the tears - maybe I will wait to see if he asks for one? Not like I could turn him down, right??? I really appreciate you sharing your experiences with me - it helps sooo much....Thank you!

Thank you so much - I know you are always there for us! Your prayers mean alot! I am in a bit of a tough spot though, and not sure how to handle it. As you know, I am an Occupational Therapist at the same hospital where Daniel is receiving his treatment. Well, I am certified for a special type of modality called Interactive Metronome (did you do this in your therapy?). I think he should be doing it right now, and should have been doing it for a while now!! I am not his therapist though, and dont want to step on his OT's toes! Ugh - I was thinking of maybe giving his dad a brochure and having him ask about it???? I just think neurology wise, this would be so important to a speedy recovery. There is also research about kids and after chemo as they grow their myelin (stuff that insulates our nerves) doesnt grow as quickly due to damage - so their processing is slower. There is research that shows that doing Interactive Metronome increases the body's production of myelin - see where Im going with this???????????????????:confused3

Im a bit frustrated with my rag quilt - lol - after 2 washings, I noticed some, well alot, of spaces that needed repairing where I had nipped the threads!! UGH!! I think this took me as long as the quilt did - lol!!! Then, after thinking about it - I dont think I backstitched at all during the construction!!! What do you do at the intersections of the blocks???
