I find shipping your things before you arrive HUGE money saving idea. Delta airlines charges $25.00 per check-in luggage each way. We're a family of 4, so it would be $100.00 going and another $100.00 coming home.

So we thought of combining all ou rthings into ONE large suitcase, but I found the size limits and discovered our bag is 3 inches too big and it would cost $175.00 to ship there and another $175.00 to return home.

Forget that.

We sent off our food and snacks in a box to our resort and it only cost us $15.00 to ship it. Our clothes went out today and it's only $ 23.00 to ship there and another $23.00 to return home.

SUCH a HUGE savings.
I love your idea! I have bought groceries online at gardengrocers’ earlier, but sending groceries and clothes direct is a huge money saver.

Great information, I have used te post office the last 2 years to ship o Pop Century, not sure how that worked, maybe i just got lucky.

It works.. just very slowly and sometimes shipments can be at Disney but sitting at the central processing point longer than they should.

That's the nuts and bolts of it. Glad it all worked out for you!

Thank You CanadianGuy for this Thread especially the part about not using USPS, DH works or USPS and I know he would have fought me about using UPS etc but now he will have to listen to me :thumbsup2

PLUS..... by shipping through UPS, we get a tracking number to keep up with our box and not risk the airlines LOOSING our luggage.

See? Cheaper AND safer.

This may sound like a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway...
Do you just bring the suitcase to the UPS store as is or does it go in a box?:confused3 Also, does it go by weight or size? Sorry to ask so many question but this sounds like a GREAT idea. The thought of not having to take the suitcase to the airport is awesome.:thumbsup2
Thanks,
Laurie

We are staying at the coronado springs resort in august and want to order a couple of cases of water since we will not have a car.
Since this is a convention center(we will not be there on a convention)_ I assume I will have to pay a fee. Does anyone know the fee? Or is there a number where I can call to find out?
Another question. When I check in do I ask at that desk about my water or do I have to go to the convention center?
Sorry this is our first visit to this hotel. We have had water delivered to pop century and when we checked in someone gave us our water on the spot.
Thanks

We are staying Club Level at the Poly and are thinking about using Garden Grocer this trip for bottled water and diapers. How does that work with a CL room? Is it at the front desk, the CL checkin, or do they deliver it to your room? Do you have to be there when it arrives?

Has anyone got the link to a good grocery delivery store? How much do they charge to deliver to a Disney resort (i'll be staying at BC)?

Thanks

Florida has some very tight restrictions on alcohol shipping. It's possible, but the hoops aren't probably worth it. You'd do better either buying on site, or contacting a local distributor to deliver after you arrive.

Does your order usually get there at the time slot you requested? Or does it depend on how busy they are that day?

Last summer when we stayed at the Boardwalk we ordered from Garden Grocer. They actually my called my cell phone to see if we were in the room and then called back to say that it had to be left with the bellservices, who then brought it up after we called and said that we were there and waiting for the order. So we did have a delivery fee and tip added to our order and then had to tip the bell services person.

When we placed the order there were choices for delivery times that were available. And if I remember right they came a little after my time slot. And I think we were the first time slot in the morning.

How funny! My DH is a UPS driver and we talked about shipping to our resort....He said no way are we USPSing it. Nice to know I'm not the only one with a DH loyal to his company!:cool1:

Laurie,

It is cheaper to go to a UPS building instead of the UPS store.

Well I didn't read this thread that well before I shipped my packed but now that it's already shipped I just noticed that 1) I left off reservation numbers, 2) I put my name down instead of my husband's which is what the reservation is under. Ugh..... I'm such an idiot! Do you think if I call POFQ and give them a heads up or is it a lost cause because they are too big/too many people? It is going to arrive Friday, we will arrive on Monday.

You should be fine as long as your name is on it.. Just ask for it by your name on arrival.

We used Garden Grocer before and they were wonderful. We stayed at Disney's cabins and when we were at the pool, I got a call on my cell phone and said that our groceries had arrived. I asked the CM if I needed to go back to the cabin and they said not if I didn't want to, they would escort garden grocer in and put all the groceries away. I was fine with that, and by the time we got done with the pool and went back to the cabin, all of our groceries were put away, what a nice beginning to a great vacation. We will be using Garden Grocer twice in December as we staying in a rental house in the beginning of our vacation and then I will use them when we check into the Boardwalk.

What about shipping packages home? I know we are going to buy my DD the giant Mickey and Minnie this year, and I don't want to pay to get that stuff home on the plane. Can we have some one box up our purchases to get shipped home before we leave or would we have to find a box and tape somewhere and do it ourselves?

Also can you ship to Villa's?
