We bought DVCresale & closed last week. We are waiting for Disney to recognize us in the system. But I'm DYING to make an Oct reservation!!! We already have our flights booked!!!
Can someone tell me their experience with how long it takes to "get in Disney's system" after closing?

Can't wait to be "Welcomed Home" at SSR for the first time!!!!

It took me 6 days... I'm a member though so I don't know if that sped up the process. All you have to do is call MS and give them your SS# and they'll look you up to see if you're there. I don't believe that you're notified in anyway. I wasn't, I just noticed on the member site that the points were there one day.....

I think it took a one or two weeks. I did not have to give them my social security number. They asked for it but I said "no thanks".

I just wanted to wish you luck with your October reservation. Hopefully you'll have better luck than other members here. There are many threads on October reservations where folks are not getting into a resort and are waitlisting. Hopefully you'll stay away from the Columbus Day weekend, which seems to be the common thread for no availability. Please have a back up reservation in case you have the same problem. BTW--October is a tough month to get a DVC reservation, along with early December. Keep us posted how you do.

No studios or 1 bedrooms anywhere the 18th - 21st. Hope those nights are not part of your plans.

Making reserv that close may be an issue, luckily SSR is one of the bigger resorts so you will likely get in. We own at BLT and if you are not calling at 9am on the 11mo day forget it and if you want a standard view you have to start a week early and push it (we always stay at the most busy times of the year)... If you are already a DVC member keep an eye on the members website for the new contract to appear under the "annual dues" tab. Once it appears see if it is also under the "vacation points" tab. If so then try to make a reservation. From closing to appearing on the dues tab it took us nearly 2-weeks and another 3 days for the points to appear but that was during the mad rush to beat the 3/20 deadline. Disney was super swamped.... So on average a week to two weeks maximum. If you are not already a member then it may take more time as they have to start from scratch. I would imagine for existing members they just add the contract but for new they need to actually create the accounts. I don't know that but it makes sense that it is possible. :confused3 Good luck.

We have never for a second regretted buying our two BLT contacts. ::yes:: I will say once you start to make reservations make sure you point out which points you want used. Current use year or banked points... They are supposed to use banked first but they use the wrong points quite often and sometimes it is hard to get them shifted around correctly. If you have two contracts at the same home resort you can transfer the later use year into the earlier use year and use them as one big group of points. Since you dumped the later use year into the earlier then you just bank everything according to the earlier use year. This way you never have to worry about missing the banking deadlines. If you only have a single contract then this is not an issue but if you are like most DVC'rs you will not be a single contract family for very long. Odds are you will add on with in a year....

Just wanted to say congrats and good luck with getting a reservation for October. If they have SSR or OKW - grab it and try the waiting list if you want to try a different resort. We have two studios at BCV and one at SSR and are waitlisted for the SSR one - only because we want to be all together.

My friend last year, also a DVC member, tried to get a reservation and had to stay at POP. They had nothing available even at the moderate resorts (of course ended up paying cash).

Good luck and keep us posted.

Great News!!! We're in the system!!! It seemed like it took FOREVER, but in all reality it only took 11 days (not business days either).
You all were right about the reservation situation. It is packed for Oct, especially Columbus Day weekend when we are there. We did make our reservation today! Thanks to a very smart & patient DVC representative who helped us make it happen! We are resort hopping to 3 different resorts, with one night wait-listed, but who cares!!!! It will be fun to see different resorts. Thanks for all your advise. It helped me pass the time.
Can't wait to be "Welcomed Home!"

Glad you were able to make it work
