(CLOSED) Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE and VILLAS Information Thread

I just found this site today and I have fallen in love I have read all the posts. This is the first time ever staying at a deluxe resort let alone club level. I absolutely love the Wilderness Lodge!!! We will be there the end of May, beginning of June for 10 glorious days. I'm so excited, my kids
DD15 and DS13, don't know where we are staying. I told them we are staying at a valve resort like before. I can't wait to see their faces when ME pulls up and we tell them to get off!!! We plan on a nice relaxing vacation, spending lots of time at the resort. It will be the kids 4th time at WDW, so they have done the rides plenty of times. I'm looking at renting the little speed boats. Can you do that from the WL marina? I will put in my request for North wing, inner courtyard. Put our names on the list for Flag family. What else is there for us to do? DD will be turning "sweet 16" while we are there. Thought about getting something delivered to the room. How do I go about doing something like that? Where do I call?

Just wanted to check in and say hello.... love the welcome basket from the OFC, you DD is just like me ... go right for the chocolate!!

And how sweet of TheLodgeLady to send you all those chocolate covered strawberries ... they look delish!!

Was going to say hope you all are having a great time, but I know of course you are!! You are "home" after all.

I am getting excited for my 3 day getaway on May 4th - I have requested one of the newly renovated rooms!... Hopefully I will get one and can post pictures.

wdwkook - did you have a bounceback card in your room?

Either request inner courtyard or off the main lobby. Be very aware that you can get a courtyard view that does not view the courtyard. There are a large number of courtyard views that actually over look a quiet pool. We were very disappointed to learn that the hard way.

It really is a nice location and the view can't be beat . As the pp said, there are alot of "courtyard" views that don't over look the inner courtyard. I know "inner courtyard" would be facing the main pool, but if it were me, I'd specify "overlooking the main pool". Have a great trip and I hope you get just the room/view you want .

Thanks you both so much. I am sure we will be pleased with any courtyard view but I will specify overlooking the main pool hoping to get that. I am going to enjoy this surprise!


Wanted to add that those River Country pics are so, so sad! What a waste.

My husband and I are staying at WLV in 2 weeks for our 15th anniversary. We are staying in a studio, can you make room requests at the villas and if so what should we request?

You are going to love the WL.....the location is great and the lobby/atmosphere is amazing......it's a great resort for relaxing . I'm not sure about where to rent the little boats, but we did that when we stayed at the Poly and it was awesome . I've never ordered anything for the room, but I have looked at Disney Florist online in the past and they have some very nice things. Hopefully someone else can give other suggestions for you . Have a great trip and enjoy the WL

I can't answer your question about requests with the villas, but just wanted to say have a great anniversary trip. The WL, IMO, is a great resort to spend a special occasion like an anniversary .

So I emailed my reservation requests to the WL IPO today. My ADR day isn't until April 29, but I wanted to make sure they had everything ready.

October seems so far away right now.

WDWKook - After reading that you are going back for 13 days, I began playing around with maybe a 3-4 day CL stay in December to take in the Lodge in all it's Christmas Splendor. The lodge really does have the best Christmas decor in all of WDW.

KOOK, sooooo excited for you that you made the switch to 13 days CL at the WL. You must be on cloud nine thinking about almost 2 weeks at your beloved WL. I said this before and will say it again, I think the WL is your "home" and other resorts might be nice, but the WL is where you belong!!!

Thank you for posting all the pictures while you have been on vacation. I am just sorry we are going to miss meeting each other by a week ...next time!!!

kook all of your posts are making me so excited for the VWL portion of my crazy split stay in October! Now the only thing I'm sad about is that I don't have more time there. And WOW for your summer trip .... 13 nights at WL CL!!!

I know you all know what it's like on your last day so I'll try and not make everyone sad along with me. I'm thrilled we have our next stay booked, but I still don't want to leave. Randy the manager, Loyda, Christine, Mike, Rob, Ana, Kirk, Jonnett our sweet mousekeeper... EVERYONE is just wonderful. Kash even made a brief appearance today. He is working elsewhere in the Lodge, but was on CL today. We'll all miss Bennett (front desk manager) very much. This was his last week and he is getting married this weekend. We might need to stop by AoA and visit him!

It's so hard to face reality (and the 14-hour drive home). We've already packed up the car because I hate doing it in the morning. I'm enjoying sitting in a comfy chair with a glass of cabernet listening to the wonderful WL music and the occasional, "WE NEED CATSUP!" and Happy Birthday song. It's almost time for our last cobbler...

BTW, for those of you wondering about a VWL rehab, I asked Christine who works on CL if she knew when the next VWL rehab is since she owns DVC. She said she hadn't heard of any rehab in the near future. In fact, she commented that it was almost 20 years before OKW had one.

Last summer, we stayed here 12 nights because we canceled our Poly/CL split one day into our stay we loved it so much (sorry, I know you love the Poly - no hard feelings I hope). Thank you for sharing my enthusiasm, I know you love the Lodge, too. Have you made a decision yet on whether you're keeping CR or changing to WL for New Years? I know there are so many great choices and there is a resort for every taste and budget.

It's extra cozy at Christmas and you'll forget you're in FL. The tree in the lobby is breathtaking:

I'm sorry that our trips won't overlap, but it sounds like you've got many DIS friends who will be at the GF with you so very soon. I hope that our trips will someday overlap. Our next stay will be 8/12 - 8/25.

WOW! It's almost time for your vacation! I thought there was more than one grill and picnic table, but I don't think it'll be very busy. It's a beautiful setting next to the lake and woods.

Have a safe trip home. So glad you enjoyed your stay.

I know what you mean by packing up the night before. We do that also. Try to get as much done as possible.

As many times as we stay there, it's still so hard to leave. I'm usually the last one out of the room. One last look off the balcony and then blow a kiss to the room.

Well, once you get home, you can start planning for August!
