I posted a picture of the update on the pool as of AM this morning earlier, did it come through?

I did just get some neat information. Not sure if this was already listed but a CM told me that the playground area will have a brother bear theme. It also looks like something is happening with the pool bar.

Ill try to get more pics in the morning, any other picture requests?

Have the put the roof back on the Trout Pass Bar yet?

Thanks for the great reports. :goodvibes

DH & I checked out this morning and won't be back until 12/11-19/2015.
Bummer!!
Anyway, the Worker Bees on the pool are moving right along. Last week, I couldn't understand those little stumps placed about the splash area. They could be tripped over....this morning, it made more sense. There are poles being set in those stumps. They are brown, made to look like, so far, thin trees. So I thought, perhaps they are going to hold up a canopy for shade. Their placement made sense for that. But then, they placed this flat piece in the middle. It looks like the top of a drum. Perhaps water will flow on top of the drum and fall over the side????? Stumped......
We did hear that pool will re-open before the splash area is done,
but everyone you ask has a different date.
Already missing the wonderful OFC staff -Mike,Sam,Loyda,Rob, Christine,Jonnett,.....and hey,Christine will be in the Macys Thanksgiving Parade!!!!! She's going to be a clown (she's a graduate of clown college!). She's not sure of the costume, but she thinks she'll be wearing some type of box, like a toy box.Pretty exciting!
I'll continue my trip reports tomorrow. It was an exhausting 7 hours coming home.:wave2:

The stuff on the poles are buckets, so they can dump water on the kids in the play area :)

Hi All, We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge from Nov. 29th to Dec. 4th. We originally booked a Woods View room but due to adding an extra day to the reservation, we had to switch to a courtyard view. We have an infant and a toddler and would like a room with an exciting view but limited amount of noise in the evening. Do you guys have any recommendations for a room request? Thanks!

If you want quiet, I would ask for outer courtyard (facing the villas) or UPPER inner courtyard (facing the garden area above the pool furthest from the lake). Unfortunately the Electric Water Pageant is loud and the inner courtyard acoustics seem to amplify it. No matter where you are, it's much less noisy with your sliding door closed.

We left about 9:30 am, before anything was placed on the poles. All we saw were 4 poles and that flat drum top in the middle of the poles. But buckets sound like a fun idea. Sounds like they're working really fast!!!!

I should clarify noise as, people screaming at the pool, foot traffic, hearing people in the restaurant, the stairs/elevator, etc.

I'm ok with sounds of nature and disney produced noise :)

We won't have many late nights, if any, at the park so it would be great to see fireworks, water parade, etc. from the room.

My other concern was the enclosed balcony. I wouldn't want to have to hold the kids up so they could see.

I found the map of the resort online but don't know enough about the courtyard view to put any requests. Trying to make the trip perfect :)

There aren't a lot of courtyard view rooms that also have a view of the fireworks, but I think that the upper floors of the south wing inner courtyard and close to the lake might have a fireworks view. But it would also be the location that is farthest from the lobby, bus stop and Roaring Forks. It would have pool noise, too.

If you don't want an enclosed balcony then add open balcony to your request. That is what I do. The 5th floor and lower rooms have open balconies. :)

What Sue said. :)

To clarify a bit - you are going to have less restaurant and hallway noise at the ends of the wings (closer to the lake), but more pool noise. The quietest would probably be an outer courtyard at the end of the south wing which will have almost no pool noise and be furthest from the traffic. However, only inner courtyard in the south wing gets you a chance of fireworks, and that comes with more pool noise. Do request floor 5 and lower if you want that open balcony.

I'm wondering too if the life guards use them as their grids for their zones they keep watch on.
the pool is vinyl?? I'm pretty sure its gunite or concrete? but the other post is probably correct, its grids for the life guards
Now that you mention it I think it is concrete or gunite since you could see the exposed concrete a few weeks back when it was being resurfaced -- which means it is probably surfaced with epoxy or plaster, which means the lines aren't functional, so I think Angi is onto something :)

I have an upcoming stay and I'm booked for a Woods view. I'm not sure what to request. I'd love to see maybe the tops of the fireworks thru the trees, but I'd also like to avoid being down a long hallway. Is there a room with woods view, fireworks and lobby?
I just need a little advice on what to request since my trip is only 17 days away!

Thank you for your update!:)

I think after epcot tomorrow I'll still take bus to WL and let mom see the beautiful resort.

Then boat to cr and mono to poly. Easy peasy :cool1:

Still wish we could see that tree but at least we saw gingerbread house at gf:goodvibes

There are woods view rooms that are above the lobby. I really don't know if they have fireworks views. There are also woods view rooms with a views of the fireworks that are a little farther from the lobby, but convenient to Roaring Forks, the boats and pool. I would just request what you want the most and then add the other requests in order of importance. You have booked a woods view room so you don't have to list that as a request. The rooms on the upper floors on the north side have the best chance of having fireworks views.

We have stayed at the WL four times now. Once we had a fireworks view, and twice our room was close to the lobby but without the fireworks view. Although I missed not seeing the fireworks we really liked being close to the lobby. We just went down to the beach to watch them instead. It is a better view from the beach than from the upper floors. And most of the time we weren't in the room when the fireworks went off, anyway. I found out that the most important thing to me when making requests was to have an open balcony. Our fireworks view room had a dormer balcony and I really didn't like that at all. :sad2:

Here now. Still no tree as of 11/19 am.
It is cold here though! Really hoping it actually hits 60 today. Yesterday was supposed to be mid 50s but at most got to 49 while we were in AK. Brrrr...

Burr. We encountered temps like that on our trip in March 2013. It was just before the F&G opened and the overnight temps got to below freezing. They had to cover everything. All the shrub sculptures around out side of WL were covered in plastic too. Winds got so bad they had to shut down the boats. Add that along with clouds and the cold air and it was miserable on our day at HS. So cold you couldn't do anything outdoors. I'm hoping for better temps when we get there in a couple of weeks

Bah humbug! Checked weather today and on Dec 2, 80% chance of rain. Hoping it changes! But what do they do for MVMCP if it rains? Anything cancelled?
