I hope you have a great trip. Maybe you'll get to watch them take the tree down. :)

If you have time, let us know if the scaffolding is still in front of the lobby windows or if it has moved. We will be there in 16 days and I'm hoping it is not too obtrusive. I can't wait to see how the new pool area improvements look.

Per the front desk, tree is coming down tonight.

Scaffolding is up covering the bear face area and to the left in the courtyard. Pool area looks nice and even had a few brave souls in the pool today!

Reading this thread has helped so much in my long wait. I look forward to every new post.

Only 13 more days to go until my 75yo MIL arrives in Florida for the very first time & 14 until we arrive at WDW. She knows we are staying at our favorite resort, but has no idea I am spoiling her with club level. My family has never stayed club level either. I'm worried that I'm unleashing a beast. We go almost every month and stay on property. I'm not sure my wallet could handle club level that much and it would be cutting into my Disney Cruise budget :rotfl:

We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time on February 28th until the 8th of March. We are now within the window for online check-in. I would really like to make a room request, but I'm not even sure what to request. We have a woods view room. I would definitely like to have a great view and be close to an elevator. Any help would be so great! Also, I know the online request does not have many options. How to do I make a request to the hotel?

Also, do we need to request a pack and play for the room, or will one already be there?
And does every room have a fridge?

Sorry for all the questions!!

Thank you!!!!!

A room request of high floor, north wing will give you the best chance of a good view. The best way to get it is to call in and have them add it to your reservation.

You will have to ask for a pack and play. They aren't in the room.

Yes, every room has a fridge. The fridges do not have a freezer compartment, though.

Thanks for the update. I hope you are having a good trip. :)

So, just checked NASAs schedule and there is supposed to be a nighttime rocket launch on Jan. 20th at Cape Canaveral. We will be at WL at the time. I have heard these rocket launches can be seen from the WL beach. Is this true? The launch is actually scheduled about the time we need to head down to the beach to catch the boat to FW for HDDR, so timing could work out pretty nicely (unless they scrub it for some reason)...Anyways, just curious.
Thanks for any help!

Very cool! We caught a missile launch from the Boardwalk once. It was definitely worth seeing. But I know they are constantly changes those launches, so it might be hard to actually get to see it. There was a space shuttle mission that was supposed to happen during one of our trips that got set back so often that we never did get to see it. :(

Woohoo, we just decided to head back to the world next month and while my wallet said to stay elsewhere my heart knew WL was the only place for us. We are "buying" down some of the cost by staying at AKL for the last 2 nights.

Anywho, we are staying In a one bedroom villa this time instead of the deluxe club level room that spoiled us last trip. We loved our view of bay lake last time and want to experience something similar this go around. I was going to request a high floor with a lake view. Should that do it or is there something else we should ask for?

The last family trip to Disney I took with both my parents in 1995 we drove out to Cape Canaveral to see a shuttle launch at 5 am. The smoke was billowing, could see the shuttle, everything looked great. Countdown started...10, 9, 8, 7, 7, 7, and nothing. It was quite the let down...Dad actually hasn't felt a need to go back now that the shuttle program is shuttered, and we used to go like every year...he says the shuttle launch was one of those things he wanted to see, and doesn't really see a point in going to Florida now...hoping to maybe talk him into it after my new husband and I have a kid or two...Mom and I had a nice trip to Disney in 2013 without him :P

I am fairly certain that most of the views at the villas are just trees. We requested top floor, dedicated 2BR, lake side on our last trip, but didn't get the lake side. I am sure someone who has stayed on that side can give you a better answer.

We saw a shuttle on our first mom and me trip back when dd was 11. We could see it from HS!!

We will be at WL about the same time as you! If see the happy mom with a college daughter, that's us:goodvibes

Started my packing after this cup of tea I'm having!!! Yippee, getting close!

Thanks. From the map it looks like there would be a lake view, but not sure how much "woods" is in the way

We will be arriving Jan. 30th!!! We have stayed at the WL several times. I have never made a room request but would like to this trip. We have a courtyard room booked, but I want to make sure we are in the inner courtyard. My DH really likes to be away from the lobby. What number should I call to make this request? Or is there someone to email?

I call this phone number: (407) 939-1936 and say that I want to modify an existing reservation. They will ask for your confirmation number. Then I ask the CM to add my request.

They don't take room requests via email.

Hi everyone,
I have learned so much reading this thread! We will be staying in a 2 bedroom villa at WL early Feb. First time at this resort with our 6 kids. We are bringing my mom (she makes our 9th person) so we are getting her her own room at the lodge. We have her booked for a Woods view room with 2 queens. My question is: Is this the most economical way to handle this? Our villa is full with DH, myself and 6 kids. We really want to stay at WL and dont want to change resorts. Some of the grands will probably stay with grandma a few nights. Her room alone is $2300 for 6 nights--yikes! I did check Orbitz--same prices. Any thoughts or is this the best pricing we will get to have her near us? Thanks!
Welcome to the WL/VWL thread, khanna!

Hi everyone! Very excited to be staying here for the first time January 30th-February 6th. My husband and I are celebrating our 6th anniversary (we were married at the Boardwalk in 2009). We are booked in a Courtyard room, I have yet to do online check-in, but was wondering are there any rooms in that category I should request? We're not picky about being close to anything, just didn't know if there were any suggestions. Thanks so much!!
Welcome and I'll put your dates in the Lodgers' Log. I would request an INNER or WL CV room so that you'll be facing toward Bay Lake and the geyser instead of VWL. You'll need to call that request in.

I thought I was on the Lodgers Log, but I guess I did not ask to be added after all.

We are traveling March 2-6, staying CL again for a belated birthday celebration for my son. He is in a school play which ends on March 1, or we would be going sooner.

And WDWKOOK, I will be asking for a similar add to the Boardwalk Inn thread. Just booked a SWW in early June!
Yippee! I'll be sure to add your dates and post anytime to the BWI thread. Are you staying CL there, too?

I'm so happy I figured out how to add my ticker:goodvibes I also learned today that several relatives have made their reservations and will be joining us at WL. if we end up on opposite sides of the resort will it be a long walk to meet up? Our only other trip to WDW we stayed at POR and meeting up took some time as that resort is so spread out.
Ticker looks great.

Who do I complain to about the lack of pinball or Ms. Pac-Man in the WL arcade?
I think we'd be your most receptive audience;). Have you tried CR? They have a great arcade and you can take either the Blue Flag boat right over or the MK bus, then just walk over to play pinball and PM. You can even win prizes with the tickets

Hi, we will be at WL May 1-7! I have a woods view room booked for my family of 4. After reading this thread I was thinking the bunk beds might be a good idea for us. May I request them with a woods view reservation or would I have to upgrade?

Thanks!
YAY! I'll log your dates. The bunks are only a Standard View request.

Booked a bounceback for our anniversary, july 23rd to August 1st woods view again! :)
Happy anniversary and I'll log your dates, too.

Arrived last night around midnight! Quiet lobby, fast check-in, and very (pleasantly) surprised to see the Christmas tree still up! Got our north side woods view request - but 2nd floor - maybe we'll have a small glimpse at some fireworks?
I hope you had/are having a magical vacation. Were you able to see any of Wishes? I think I've read of 3rd floor sightings.

This is where I would like to be right now! Even in my warm house, my feet are still cold. Hope everyone is keeping warm!
Ahhhh, so relaxing.

Per the front desk, tree is coming down tonight.

That tree was up a long time. Thank you for reporting about it not coming down till 1/8.

The OFC is wonderful and I know your MIL will be thrilled. Let us know about her reaction. Maybe she'll treat next time;)

We've seen them a couple of times from the beach at WL in front of the playground. They launch just "above and beyond FW" so just look toward the marina area of FW and you can't miss it.

Love the bolded:rotfl:

Unfortunately, there are no VWL views that come close to the 25 Deluxe room views. Your request is the closest, but as was posted, you can barely see the lake at all because of the tree line that runs the entire length of Bay Lake in front of the villas.

Started my packing after this cup of tea I'm having!!! Yippee, getting close!

Funny you should mention packing...just got back from buying dry goods (coffee (not a fan of the DW stuff), oatmeal, hot chocolate, tea, etc) for our trip :) I've also started setting clothes aside...right now it looks like it will be decently warm, and I definitely do NOT need the short sleeve shirts in the tundra of the Midwest, so might as well start packing them ;p

Packing your swimsuit? :)

Packing your swimsuit? :)

I have swam when it was 55F out...and I've swam when it was 55F in the water (Lake Superior is cold, pretty much all year)...now I was younger and stupider, but if it is anywhere near 70F, I will probably go for a swim...so yep, swimsuit will be packed :)
