(CLOSED) Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE and VILLAS Information Thread ~2012~

Sign me up! I'm very much enjoying all of the information on this thread - so thorough!
We check into WL on 10/21 for 5 nights and I can't wait! We'll be at AoA for three nights before with my sister and niece, but then my two girls and I check into a Woods View Bunk Room at WL. DH may or may not join us depending on his work schedule, but girls' only is just fine with me too!
Haven't stayed here before so we're very excited. My dinner at Artist's Point March of last year was my favorite and I loved the feel of the resort!
So do you all think I should request a Wishes view? I tend to prefer a higher floor, but the resort looks compact enough that any location *should* be fine.
I'm still holding out hope that a CL room with my bounceback rate comes available before we arrive... Wishing for some pixiedust:

Thanks for the photo. Are you able to close and lock the door? The locking mechanism protrudes into the safe and takes up some room, (and could also scratch what's in there, so make sure you have your devices covered.) I really LOVE those huge floor safes at the CR/BLT, Poly and GF - wish WL had those, too since they fit laptops, etc...

Where are you off to today?

This was a quiet morning with breakfast at Roarin Forks before heading out. We had planned on Epcot, but switched to MK and got our first small world trip of many to come. It is DD's favorite. Then we came back to the room for the afternoon and tonight we are heading to Trail's End. So far it is a great first day.

The safe is deep enough for the lock mechanism to fit, but it does stick inside a bit on the left side. I ended up putting the second iPad in its bag in there too.

If anyone has any questions or pic requests just let me know. I am taking LOTS of pictures. :)

Can someone direct me to info on who to make room requests to? I know I have seen it on here and have searched the thread and scrolled thru and can't find it. We check in Friday so I assume it may even be too late to make a request. Do I call reservations or someone else? anyone to email? We have a courtyard view and I really want to request a lake view and not get the view of the Villas pool hopefully. I know it is only a request but wanted to make it. We stopped making requests years ago because it was so much fun to show up and find out where you would be, we like all the views even the courtyard pool but my husband loved our room at the end of the hall facing the lake(last two times) got it by luck, that he asked that I try to request a lake view again.

We get there on Thursday and want a great view but I think. But being close to elevator has IRS appeal. Guess I hope for 5th or 4th floor. Any 1 bedroom villas you just love.. Send me the number.

Hi everyone---

I just booked a room at the Wilderness Lodge for July 2013 for me and my 2 boys. We are part of a big group reunion that will be there the last week of July. This will be our first time staying there and I can't wait! I think we might not even be going to the parks but just doing resort stuff--like watching stuff from the beach at night, going to Downtown Disney, etc. while we're not meeting up with our group.

Can't wait!

Can you tell I sent that from my phone????:rotfl2:
IRA was supposed to be its.. like staying near the elevator has its appeal!
Any room numbers or favorite floors???

Soon you will be here, and unless a whole lot more people show up you are going to absolutely love the lack of crowds.

Thank you so much Grand Californian!!!! Here's hoping for no crowds just like you're experiencing.

I am sooo thrilled about booking our next trip back to the WL CL!!!:cool1:
Congratulations and happy planning:goodvibes

I'll add you to the list.

If you request a Wishes view and get it, your room will be on a higher floor in the North Wing. Just keep in mind that some of the 6th floor rooms do have solid balcony railings.

Any non-club level room location requests need to made directly through the WDTC/CRO or via your TA. You'll need your reservation number and they can email to you a new confirmation, just remind them. The reservation will be dropped into WL about 4 days prior, so you still have time for the room assignor to see it if you do it today. Good luck!

Though I've not stayed at VWL, often guests request a high floor overlooking the pool/Bay Lake (through the woods) view. There is a VWL room number map on the first page that might help you decide.

Thanks for posting the SEP movies. I'll copy that to the first page, with credit to you!

I wish those crowds would stay home for Thanksgiving...but I guess that would be asking too much :rotfl2:
:rotfl:
I'd pay extra for no crowds.

:jumping1:7 days!!!:jumping1:
Until our first stay at Wilderness Lodge and we return to WDW!!! Just a little excited!!!

Congrats! Did you book the last full week of July (July 21-27). If so our trips may overlap!:rotfl:

Is your entire group staying at WL?

Will you be posting on vacation? We all love living vicariously through other Lodgers:surfweb:

We are having a ball. We loved Trails End last night, and today was an AK day so far. We just took this pic of WCC at 4:20:

A rare site - no children. I imagine you're only seeing mostly pre-school aged children like your DD?

I'm glad you liked TE - did you have a loaded tater? What's on the menu for dinner tonight?

Just wondering if anyone has been recently and can comment on the bus from WL to MK, and which resorts are shared if any? TIA!:goodvibes:goodvibes

The WL bus to the MK is non-stop and doesn't share with any other resorts. It takes about 5 minutes.

So it is 45 days until we leave and 46 days until our stay at WL OFC. So today I ask myself.... is it too early to start packing :rotfl:
