Thanks for the heads up, I may call reservations and see what they may know, and go from there.

FYI, that would be the last place I would go for this type of information. The phone CMs are either the very last to know about these things or are never informed at all. I would take the information posted here on the DIS over a phone CM any day.

Amen!!!!!!!!!

Who will be the first to contact Falcon on the Nile? I was just on their 'contact us' page, but chickened out:blush:

I sent a message through their website (I included the message below). Hopefully they will get back with me. I will share whatever info I get!

Pool rehab @ Disney World's Wilderness Lodge

It has come to our attention that your company has been contracted to do repair/rehab on the main swimming pool at The Wilderness Lodge @ Disney World. Is it possible for you to share information as to what will be done, when it is scheduled to begin, as well as the time it might take to complete? I am trying to gather information for a travel group. Thank you for any info you might have.

So, with the pool "rehab", if it was a big deal, would they not notify people with existing reservations or list it on their site? This way we could make the decision if we are going to switch resorts or not. For us the pool was a big draw, with the poly closed, we decided on WL as the kids will be in there daily. Hopefully it won't be a big disturbance, because otherwise we may switch resorts "sigh", was looking forward to this...

We received an email letter from the GM of the Poly 3 weeks ago to inform us of the extent of the refurb & pool closure during our stay with them the last week in August. I would hope that if there is a major closure at WL that same week, we would have already heard or will hear very very soon...

I love that we're all the travel group and that it has come to our attention:rotfl2:! That is gold:thumbsup2. Did you attach their permit?:rotfl:. Please keep us posted, you're much braver than I:worship:

Agreed... We had been on calls for the past few days asking about possible work to the pool and they were adamant about there being no work. When we told them last night we saw actual pictures posted on the DIS, for the first time ever, CMs got a bit snarky with us :(

And we were more than nice (albeit persistent), that yes there is work being done. Had us on hold over an hour and a half last just on one call last night and came back with yep, there is some "slight" scaffolding up, with plans to move toward the pool itself in August. Not a warm-and-fuzzy feel right now about the whole ordeal as it feels like things are kept under wraps on purpose. But hope to smooth my feathers and move on.

TRULY appreciate the work that everyone is doing here to keep us informed though. I don't care for surprises, just want to know what we may be encountering/ expecting.

I saved their permit as leverage :lmao: If they come back with "We don't know what you're talking about. We haven't been contracted by Disney World." , then I will send a copy of the permit as irrefutable proof. ;) I missed my calling as an investigative reporter.

You're good!! More guts than me :thumbsup2

Thanks to kook and heather for their persistence in getting info.

WDWKOOK! Thank you! Long Island Iced Tea, Cobbler, AND news giving us a reason to be optimistic. And all here at my kids' bedtime. Wonderful! Thanks.

I hate to be the pessimist, but how can the pool not be an "empty bucket" during refurb? I don't understand how (1) guests use the pool through 7 p.m. at night, (2) workers drain the pool, (3) workers work on the pool, and (4) worker refill the pool, all in time for guests to use the pool again the next morning? What kind of pool refurb doesn't require them to drain the pool, and if they are draining and refilling each night that will be one cold pool each day. Plus those with a CY view get to pay extra to hear work during the night? Something isn't adding up here.

Work on the surrounding cement structures, and any work requiring the pump systems to be shot off. Happens to my parents frequently at their house.

I think it's a pretty well accepted truth that WDW powers that be do not appreciate the pervasive nature of the DIS and other similar sites, as well as being completely apoplectic over any perceived "leak" of inside information that hasn't been officially released. I'm not surprised you got that response.

We were at WL 1-2 weeks ago, and I was very surprised to see all the pool construction. Our nice "Courtyard View" was a view of tarps and a dried up stream bed. The Lobby was "dry" too. Pool was open of course.

Still love the Lodge, of course. But I may not be able to stay there again for a long time, so I was a little bummed. "First World Problems", my DD would say, snapping me back to the reality that I am so lucky to be able to GO to WDW at all!

Going in August. I can deal with the construction (though not thrilled since it's been 8 years since we stayed at WL), but the pool being closed won't do for us. I'd have to switch and if I wait too long, there won't be anything decent left at decent prices and we'll probably end up in a mod, which isn't the end of the world, of course, lol, but I'd like to prepare for it if that's the case. Thanks for the info, such as it is. :)

Another one if those (almost famous) Long Island Iced Tea is yours if you call AND get a definitive answer. ;)

You know what this needs...:dancer:

All packed. Now time for one last:banana::cool1:party: and a:drinking1

Bedtime..... Like I'm really going to sleep tonight cuz........

I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!

Nice! Hopefully with some persistence form a few they will inform us! I am going to call them tomorrow.

Also, yes, for some this may be a first world problem, however, my son has a disability and the ability to go to the pool after the parks helps him calm down, and that is sometimes a key to us getting him settled for bed.

Fortunately there will be a pool for him to go to, as the hidden springs pool will be open either way.

Roaring Fork - I didn't realize the ordering procedure has changed (Haven't stayed here since 12/12). I am sure it is in this thread somewhere but thought I would mention. Now you get a tray pick up drinks and sides and then when you go to the counter and pay you order. They give you a number stand and bring your food when ready. Both times we ate there the food came really quick. This made it much nicer with small kids to not have to balance a bunch of food and then find a place to sit. There still seemed to be plenty of seating even with more people sitting waiting for food.

This reminds me of how Roaring Forks used to be. You would order at the normal ordering area, pay, and they gave you a number. There used to be a window from the kitchen into the dining room and they would call your number and hand you your food there. It made so much more sense, and you got to eat hot food instead of having to re-heat it in the microwave. Having them deliver it to your table is even better!

We checked in for the second part of our split stay last night. I was really excited, but after a check-in experience that was far less than magical, I'm feeling a little bummed this morning. But, hopefully once I get my coffee in and take in the sights of the lodge in daylight, things will start to look up again. :)

I am in awe of the detective work and persistence of the members here trying to get pool info. I would never even think to look for things like permits. Amazing job! :cheer2:
