POOL UPDATE, ETC... FROM hstrickland/Heather:

Most wonderful Heather/hstrickland, who is currently at WL-CL, was kind enough to make another pool inquiry for us today. She spoke with a reliable source, whom I know, who told her that there is no definite start date for a WL pool rehab. However, the CM received an email stating that future pool work would be done at night, after 7:00 and would not involve a complete pool closure. This may be why many WL CMs and reservation personnel are claiming they know nothing about a pool closure because there is in fact no current plan to actually close the pool completely. So this is what (I think:confused3) we know for sure right now:

~ A permit was filed for pool work to be done at WL. The permit expires in January 2015.

~A reliable source believes any pool work will begin after Labor Day.

~Another reliable source believes any work will be done at night and the pool will only be closed after 7:00 PM.

~According to what SFunaro was told, the work will be completed by mid-October.

Just a friendly reminder that this information should not be taken as official in any way. Nothing has been publicly announced, so as the lawyers would say, "SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE." I'm sure that more information will become available soon and I will see what I can find out 6/25. I'll bring along lots of chocolate in case I need to bribe someone…

On the topic of the stream rehab which should be completed the first week of July...

I talked to Heather about it and she wants everyone to know that the indoor portion in the lobby isn't really that bad at all in person. The outdoor photos look grim, but she said it really isn't so bad in person. They have a CV room and still love the location and view. She said that it would of course be better if no tarps were up at all, but it really isn't that bad like the Poly is right now. She mentioned many areas of the MK where there are tarps up and ride rehabs, such as The PeopleMover. She also mentioned that the Poly rehab is pretty awful in person, but she doesn't want anyone worrying about their upcoming visits - WL is beautiful and her family is very happy with all aspects of their stay.

You guys have been very busy posting so I'm really behind in responding, but I hope this post allays some fears:grouphug:

Thank you for this update! Hoping that whatever is being done is wrapped up by October :)

I looked briefly on page 1, but didn't see an answer....does anyone know how long the courtyard refurb is going to take?

Tonight's CL hot apps were shepherds pie(awesome), crab rangoons and California rolls, and then an Asian beef salad and turkey roll ups on cold side.

While this might be encouraging, I agree with someone else who asked how loud they are going to be. Not sure I want to hear hammering or anything else all night long....that would cause us to re-book our room view.

:rotfl:
I still think it might have something to do with fencing and even though the contractor doesn't list fencing work, they do list "permitting" so maybe they sub-contract? Maybe they'll have a sound-proof bubble around the work at night:confused3. Hey, you live in FL, don't you know what's going on?:rotfl:

I did think it was the fence also. Yes, I live here but I work all day, lol. :surfweb: I try and catch up at lunch time. But sometimes I work that too.

I thought about that today that if I lived closer I would just go over and ask. I would still get six different answers, haha :rolleyes1

And like I said, they are "hoping" to have the renovation completed by Thanksgiving. I think I was given the worst case scenario as they did not want to disappoint anyone if this thing goes longer than expected.

I want to thank everyone who has been getting info on this.

I still want to visit at the end of October :worship: so here is hoping this thing is done very quickly!!!

Oh!! My DH loves Shepard's Pie! That is a new one for us. Looking forward to our next visit.

Wow their knocking it out of the park with tremendous offerings : ) We will not be staying CL at WL during our Nov. stay but staying 11 days and then 3 days CL at GF at the end of our trip. Looking forward : )

I remember all the above being awesome but I personally did not care for the Asian beef salad but DH did.

I think we all could use a little cobbler...

By looking back several posts it looks like the completion is scheduled by the end of October is the most current info. about the main pool and by beginning of July for the water stream. This is current info and it includes the possibility of the pool being open during the days until 7 pm and then it will be worked on in the evenings. I believe the info is coming from good sources so will see how it all comes to pass : )
Just read back several pages to see current info

Yikes! Missed the part about it being done by mid October! Well that's good, but just in case it goes longer, I am still worried about the noise at night.

Still hoping the Stream will be up and running when by the first week of July.

See the more I post about it, the more I stop worrying and the more I will DO this solo trip! :lmao:

So, with the pool "rehab", if it was a big deal, would they not notify people with existing reservations or list it on their site? This way we could make the decision if we are going to switch resorts or not.

For us the pool was a big draw, with the poly closed, we decided on WL as the kids will be in there daily. Hopefully it won't be a big disturbance, because otherwise we may switch resorts "sigh", was looking forward to this...

Maybe, maybe not. They have always been very inconsistent with letting guests know about these things. When they had the whole fridge recall, some people got letters in the mail some did not. Some found out not even at the check in desk but once they got in the room.

There have been other resort pool closures where people again didn't find out before arriving or at check in but once they got ready and headed to the pool.

Thank you to all the super sleuths!

This is the one time I am glad I have 2 little ones who are happy to just get wet (still not big enough to really enjoy the slides).

And I love the update about Roaring Forks. That sounds like quite a good system.

Thanks for the pool info. Bringing our almost 3 year old who loves to swim Sept 29-Oct-7. Her first visit!

Thanks for the heads up, I may call reservations and see what they may know, and go from there.
