Just out of curiosity, what are the online check-in choices? Just wondering if my requests will be something I can do myself or if I'll have to ask the owner to request for me.

I'm actually planning on requesting far from elevator -- since we'll be in a standard view 1 BR, I don't want to be near the front entrance and bothered with the noise. I figured that far from elevator (I don't mind stairs) would probably get me a quieter and nicer view in a standard view, but someone please correct me if that's not right.

We haven't done it ourselves, but that's exactly what people have said. For your first question, I would think far fom elevator would NOT be an online checkin option. I think for that, asking your owner to call or do the online chat would be the best bet.

Ps -- I did the online chat on DVCMEMBER.COM a few months ago and it was really easy. Took my room request with no hassles.

I asked previously but it was months ago and we're leaving in a week now and I can't find it. All this villa talk confuses me :)

We are just a standard 2 double beds room. Any suggestions on locations within the hotel to request? We'd love a view of fireworks but not sure any of the standard rooms look out that way. Also I know nothing about the layout of the hotel and would love suggestions on the best location to get to the bus stops.

Loving the stay so far! CL is great and Scott and Anita and the rest of the group are wonderful hosts. Ate supper at Yachtsman for the first time last night and it was one heck of a meal. The NY strip was cooked just how I like them, wifey's filet was charred just how she likes it and her sweet potato casserole was very good. However, the highlight of the night was the truffle mac and cheese. WOW:yay: Carrie was our server and she did a great job despite having one of them high maintenence tables that was overly demanding sitting behind us. They seemed to want her to be their very own server. They interupted her twice while she was taking our order! :confused3 But, in the end, I have to say that was the best dinner we have ever had on site! Wonderful evening. Oh, and can I say that while my home state has been slaughtered with yet another winter storm while I was here, the weather has been beautiful. Perfect evenings so far. Saw the end of Illuminations from our balcony last night after riding ToT on extra hours and strolling home from the studios. Great location. pirate:

Glad you're enjoying! Lately we've found Yachtsmen's to be the best signature in the Boardwalk area. I know years back it had lots of bad reviews, but they got a new executive chef a couple of years ago, and it really feels like true fine dining now.

Because we are renting points does anybody know if we'll have trouble linking our reservation to magic bands and using MDE since we don't technically "own" the reservation :confused3

Beautiful photo as usual, psac! We're just 11 days away from BWI CL for the Princess Half Marathon Weekend!

Back at home after a two weekend for baseball, middle of the week at the Boardwalk and somebody deposited a whole bunch of white stuff all over our state. Cold as heck too. Here are some quick thoughts.

1. The weather was great!
2. The boardwalk was beautiful
3. Club level was great
4. Not one problem with magic bands the whole trip!
5. I am picky eater and I loved Lefou's Brew.
6. Drank at a couple new bar's on the trip- Crews cup was a neat lil treat! Loved it.
7. As a Chicago Pizza lover, was glad that I enjoyed and liked Via Napoli. Had stayed away, but will go back
8. BOG for lunch worked fine, was fine, but will not be a must. We had fastpass for it and that helped.
9. As I said earlier, can't say enough about Yachtsman and the Truffle mac and cheese and NY strip.
10. All the CM's we ran into were great.

So, after three nights CL room 4230 just around the corner from the lounge, I will move the Boardwalk up to #2 on our favorite hotel list! Location! My wife and I talked about it on the ride up to SC to watch our son play baseball this weekend and we are both still Wilderness Lodge Lovers in more ways than one. We also loved the upgrade but would probably not spend the extra money. We probably used about $50 a day from the lounge with fruit for breakfast and a Bud Light or two every evening. The cost would definitely outweigh our use. Of course if we knew we were buying it we wouldn't have made all the lunch and dinner ressies that we did. Since it was a surprise to us, we didn't want to take too much advantage of it.

As always, it was a great getaway! Hole in the wall baby! pirate:

Standard view (on DVC points) are along the main drive, looking out towards the parking lot. You might be close to the elevator bank and you might not be. But with three reservations, you might want to just stick to being close to each other. That could be tough.

Thanks for the suggestion! I was hoping to minimize our walk with a stroller/toddler, but being close to each other is definitely most important!

I need my dates altered :worship:

As much as I wanted a trip over my birthday, my daughter came to me and asked if we would go with her and her husband over their anniversary in September.

How do you say no?! :cutie:

So we booked a 2BR villa from September 21-29
I'll get my magical erasing quill out and, of course you can't say no!

I hope my answer's the same:scratchin. The only view the Standard View rooms don't have is a direct BW View. For a possible Illuminations view, request a 5th floor Epcot view, but these rooms aren't very close to the bus stop. The bus stop is in the front of the resort and the Epcot views are on the east side overlooking the pool and garden areas. The closest rooms would be the ones overlooking the port cochere/parking lot. (You can ignore the red circled HESS.)

BTW, the beds are queens not doubles:)

That's great to read and we might just give it another try. A new EC can make a huge difference (good and bad). Thanks for posting your lovely photo, psac.

Thank for posting your after-action report, AKA...TR.

Just back from my third stay at the Boardwalk in a year - weather was mostly a bust, but the Boardwalk was lovely as usual and I had a fabulous trip with my youngest sister, who hadn't been to Disney in over 25 years. I wanted to add some information about the pull-out sleeper sofas in the Garden Suites (Garden Cottages, Garden Room Outside Building - whatever name Disney is calling them at the moment). They are NOT all gone, much to my surprise! I was in 1209 this time, and it still has the green sleeper sofa, at least as of 2/9/14. I'm not sure how many other garden rooms (if any) still have them as they were supposedly all replaced in Fall 2013.

All three of my Boardwalk stays have been in the Garden Suites. With the sleeper sofa, it works out well for two adults who want separate sleeping areas and club level amenities without paying for two rooms or a larger suite. Since I had last visited in late September, it didn't even occur to me that the room configuration had changed, so I didn't scrutinize when booking the same room type for this trip. Then a few weeks prior to the trip, I read about the removal of the sofas here on the boards and called the Boardwalk concierge to ask about it. They said yes, the sleeper sofas were gone, so I requested a rollaway bed as I wasn't sure if the new couches would be long enough for sleeping. Then when I checked in on Wednesday, 2/5, the (wonderful, awesome) Pete told me that he had noted the request for the rollaway on my folio and instead asked housekeeping to turn down the sofa for me - he said there's a nightly charge for rollaways and he wanted to save me a few bucks on that. I did a double-take and asked him if there was still a sleeper in that room as I'd heard they were removed. He said yes, he had confirmed that there was one in my room. Indeed there was, and I couldn't have been more pleased with his assistance since that's what I wanted in the first place.

And in other news, my sister I had a mostly smooth ride with our MagicBands. There's some kind of glitch with Boardwalk club level access and the Garden Suites. Pete had to reconfigure my band on arrival to give me access to the Innkeeper door. My sister arrived later, after the desk was closed, so I took her to the concierge desk the next morning to reconfigure her band and the guy working then couldn't figure it out - he ended up giving her a KTTW card that would work instead (we were always together, so it ultimately didn't matter). I also had a problem with our PIN on the first day and had to go to reset it at Town Hall in the MK. Other than that, access to rooms, parks, Magical Express transport, FP+ reservations and purchases on the band all worked as they should.

I guess I got lucky then.

Best of luck with your requests. We have never had one granted. We requested close to the elevator this past time, and we ended up in 5001....farthest room from elevator.:confused3

That's the problem we always have in three of the last four trips, we had 2003 twice and 5003 once.

Since themouseforless hasn't updated to the Feb. calendar yet, NicoleLarson was very thoughtful and sent me the link she just received:

You are welcome! Really not a big deal. This is our first stay at the Boardwalk and I am so excited. I guess I forgot to have you add this part of our stay to the log because I don't see it. Feb. 21-25 (2014), For PHM and DD 5th Bday!:yay:
