We are going to be getting in 1 night before our reservations. As much as I like Disney, I don't want to pay $125 for another night at Pop. We would like to be as close as possible, but still resonable, under $100, but closer to $60 would be nice.
We would love to be in Downtown Disney, but are wondering about Maingate East and West, we have never stayed at either, and are wondering if it is a safe clean part of town. Last year we stayed at Windsor Hills, and the drive in to WH was really questionable (where they have all of the places that will buy back your used tickets). I definantly would NOT want to stay there or anywhere similar.
Can anyone reccomend a location and/or hotel?

When we did this a couple of years ago, we stayed at the Travelodge Suites East Gate on 535 & 192. It less than 5 minutes to Disney and it cost us less than $50! It wasn't the best hotel around, but it was definitely nice enough that I would stay there again...and I'm very picky when it comes to hotels.

I like to stay at the Springhill Suites at the Marriott Villiage...I get that for under 100...but there is also a Fairfield Inn at the Villiage which is usually a few dollars cheaper. It's close and I can always count on the quality of a Marriott brand....free breaksfasts, too!

I just pricedlined yesterday for this Saturday April 18th and got Royal Plaza in WDW for $58.00!!!! I called after just to check rates for that night and it was $147. We check into ASMu on Sunday with the pasholder rate of $64.

Someone just posted on the budget board - Celebration Radission $47/night from Hotwire.

That was me!!

We arrive April 30, but can't check in at Kidani Village until the next day. I was so happy to get a real nice place at such a cheap price.

I've used Hotwire several times and have never been disappointed. Then again I only use 3 stars or up places.

We're doing one night at the Springhill Suites in the Marriott Village, as someone else recommended. Fairfield in the same Marriott Village is slightly cheaper for a standard room. Both include free breakfast. The best rate is with the Mousesavers code.

For Fairfield, it's $89 a night most nights at Fairfield, and you get a $25 per night resort credit on top of that which you can use in the food court there for dinner or snacks. Springhill ends up being $99 a night plus the resort credit.

Thanks everyone. We actually decided to do the first night in Daytona Beach so that the kids could play in the sand, they love the beach, we don't, so 1 night is perfect for everyone. We got La Playa Resort on Hotwire for $64.

Was it offered at that price or did you name your price? I have never tried that before. :confused3

Well, it is offered at that price, but you don't "really" know what you are getting until you pay, however there is a great website that pretty much tells you what each one is. It is betterbidding.com. Scroll down to the states forums, click on the state you want, either priceline or hotwire, and then it will tell you the possibilites based on amenites, location, and star rating. LOTS in orlando!

Butting in to ask a question:
We are thinking of going in May but flights are so expensive for Sunday when the cheap packages at the Disney Resorts start, that we were thinking of flying in Sat and staying at a non-Disney hotel.

My Question:
How will you get to the hotel that you are staying at since you won't be eligible for ME? then How will you get to your Disney Resort? This is my only problem. We have a party of 4 adults and 5 kids.

I would check with the hotel to see if they will pick you up from the airport and if they have free transportation to WDW. If so, you could see if they will drop you off at the resort or only to DTD or a park. If they only take you to a park or DTD, then you can catch the WDW transportation to get to your hotel. It could become a lot of steps...

The only other way to get to the 2 hotels is by taxi or renting a car.

You could bid for a hotel near the airport. Most of them have airport shuttles. Take the shuttle to the hotel, then the next AM take the shuttle back to the airport to get on ME. Lots of poeple do this.
